Richard Faircloth
INTERLACHEN - Richard Faircloth of Interlachen died Wednesday at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Gainesville. He was 66.
Mr. Faircloth was a businessman. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Born in Fort Lauderdale, he lived in the Gainesville area for 40 years before moving to Interlachen two years ago.
Survivors include his wife, Lise Faircloth of Interlachen; two sons, George Winstead of Interlachen and Richard Lee Faircloth of Atlanta; and a sister, Shirley Ann Ritch of Gresham, Wis.
Rebecca Ann Harned
Rebecca Ann Harned of Gainesville died Wednesday in Gainesville. She was 50.
Mrs. Harned was a physical therapist at Tacachale.
She was born in Hamilton, Ohio, and moved from Steubenville, Ohio, to Gainesville 10 years ago.
Mrs. Harned was a member of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.
Survivors include her husband, Roger Harned of Gainesville; a daughter, Rachel Harned of Gainesville; her parents, Earl and Marianna Rice of Bradenton; and a brother, Tom Rice of Pittsburgh.
Cleon Griffis
STARKE - Cleon "Bones" Griffis of Starke died Wednesday at Hospice House of North Central Florida in Gainesville after a long illness. He was 56.
Mr. Griffis was a heavy-duty equipment operator for Clay Electric Co-op.
He was a lifelong resident of Bradford County.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Law Griffis of Starke; a son, John Cleon "Sam" Griffis of Worthington Springs; a daughter, Danette Ann Wimpy of Starke; seven brothers, including his twin, Leon Griffis of Starke, Woodrow Griffis Sr., Leroy Griffis, James Griffis and Riley Griffis, all of Starke, Monroe Griffis of Jacksonville and Billy Griffis of Lawtey; four sisters, Doris King of Lawtey, Wanda Corbett, Diane Moody and Rosemary Vanzant, all of Starke; and six grandchildren.
Jerome Gordon Leiter
Jerome Gordon "Jerry" Leiter of Gainesville died Tuesday at his home. He was 68.
Mr. Leiter was a pharmaceutical representative. He also served in the U.S. Navy.
He was born in Chicago and moved from Miami to Gainesville two months ago.
Mr. Leiter was Jewish.
He was a Mason.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Bell Leiter of Gainesville; two daughters, Lauri Evans of Gainesville and Cathy Feld of Phoenix; a son, Phil Leiter of Conyers, Ga.; a brother, Larry Leiter of Los Angeles; and six grandchildren.
Lenora Marion Streete
McINTOSH - Lenora Marion Streete of McIntosh died Monday at her daughter's home in Williston. She was 66.
Mrs. Streete was born in Orange Springs and was a lifelong resident of McIntosh.
She was a Baptist.
Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Smith of Columbia, S.C., Cynthia Streete of Williston and Sylvia Harrison of Gainesville; three sons, Ellis Streete of Miami, Sheldrick Streete of McIntosh and Reginald Streete of Jacksonville; her mother, Ola Mae McDonald of Orange Springs; two brothers, Ernest McDonald of Sparta and Edward McDonald of Hawthorne; and 13 grandchildren.
Clarence Ratliff
LIVE OAK - Clarence Ratliff of Live Oak died Tuesday at Shands at Live Oak after a long illness. He was 84.
Mr. Ratliff owned and operated Ratliff Ford Co., now Walt's Ford-Mercury, in Live Oak. He also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Born in Bakers Mill, he moved from Jacksonville to Live Oak 48 years ago.
Mr. Ratliff was a member of the Elks Lodge No. 1130, the Rotary Club and the First Methodist Church of Live Oak.
He sponsored 4-H Club banquets, the Future Farmers of America Awards, Boys Ranch and the Advent Christian Village.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Ratliff of Live Oak; two daughters, Jackie Kent of Bonita Springs and Linda Ratliff of Live Oak; a son, Hank Ratliff of Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Marie Roberts of Groveland; a brother, Eugene F. Ratliff of Naples; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Homer P. Hassell
BELLEVIEW - Homer P. Hassell of Belleview died Wednesday at Ocala Regional Medical Center. He was 80.
Mr. Hassell was retired from Ocala Lumber Co. and Southern General Fireproofing.
He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War.
Born in Quitman, Ga., he moved from Jonesboro, Ga., to Belleview 25 years ago.
Mr. Hassell was a member of the First Baptist Church of Belleview.
Survivors include his wife, Estelle Hassell of Belleview; two daughters, Jennifer Dorsey and Joanne Hassell, both of Gainesville; a son, Douglas Hassell of Cleveland, Ga.; a brother, Grady Hassell of Conyers, Ga.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Gerald G. Jones
Geraldcq G. Jones of Wildomar,cq Calif., died unexpectedly Feb. 3 in Wildomar. He was 32.
Mr. Jones was a long-distance truck driver. He also served in the U.S. Army.
Born in Gainesville, he moved from Gainesville to California three years ago.
Mr. Jones participated in the Upward Bound Program at the University of Florida and graduated from Gainesville High School in 1984.
He later attended Florida A&M; University.
He was a member of Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church.
Survivors include his mother, Beverleycq Johnson-Williams of Gainesville; his stepfather, Frederickcq L. Williams of Gainesville; five brothers, Frederick L. Williams Jr., Dwaynecq D. Williams and Raynardcq Jones, all of Gainesville, and Clint Jones and David Jones III, both of Atlanta; and a sister, Maxine Durrantcq of Gainesville.
Joseph Camps Sr.
Joseph Camps Sr. of Gainesville died Wednesday at his home. He was 68.
Elder Camps was a pastor at Newnan's Lake Church of God By Faith for 33 years and previously pastored at several other Church of God By Faith churches in the Gainesville area.
Elder Camps also was a retired maintenance superintendent.
Born in Jonesville, he was a lifelong resident of the Gainesville area.
Elder Camps was a chairman of the National Examining Board of Ministers Church of God By Faith Inc.
He served on the Department of Corrections Prison Ministry and the Santa Fe Corrections Advisory Board.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah E. McKnight Camps of Gainesville; four sons, Joseph Camps Jr. of Tallahassee and Calvin Camps, Waldon Camps and Steven Camps, all of Gainesville; five daughters, Carolyn Cowan of Venice, Cheryl Green and Karen Alford, both of Gainesville, Judith Matthews of Birmingham, Ala., and Jaueline Lewis of Hampton, Va.; two brothers, Bishop Walter Camps and John Camps, both of Gainesville; three sisters, Jessie McKnight, Pearl Sanders and Janie Sanford, all of Gainesville; and 22 grandchildren.
The funeral for Elder Joseph Camps Sr. will be at 9 a.m. Sunday at the Performing Arts Center at the University of Florida.
A burial service will immediately follow at Newnan's Lake cemetery off NE 39th Avenue in Gainesville.
Selma Diane Dawson
Selma Diane Dawson of Gainesville died Thursday at her home. She was 74.
Mrs. Dawson was a retired bookkeeper.
She was born in New York City and moved to Gainesville 12 years ago.
Mrs. Dawson was a member of the German Club in Miami.
Survivors include her husband, Harold Dawson of Gainesville; a stepdaughter, Schuyler McLaine of Glassboro, N.J.; and a granddaughter.
