Hazel Leona Mulligan

Hazel Leona Mulligan of Gainesville died Friday at Oaks Rehabilitation and Care Center in Gainesville. She was 95.

Mrs. Mulligan was a retired registered nurse.

She was born in Porterwood, W. Va., and moved from Pittsburgh to Gainesville 27 years ago.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Mulligan Jr.

Survivors include her two sons, William N. Mulligan of Kent, Wash.; a brother, John Uber of Venice; a sister, Mildred Baker of Greenville, Pa.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1831 NW 13th St.

Mamie Dotha Amsler

WALDO - Mamie Dotha Amsler of Waldo died Monday at the Oaks Residential and Rehab Center in Gainesville. She was 75.

Mrs. Amsler was a homemaker and a Baptist.

She was born in Alapaha, Ga., and moved from Georgia to Waldo 35 years ago.

Survivors include her husband, LaRue E. "Bud" Amsler of Waldo; a son, Raymond McMillan of Waldo; four sisters, Mattie Pitts of Helena, Ga., Elma Hutto of Macon, Ga., Alice Yaughn of Ocilla, Ga., and Myra Johns of Jacksonville; and one granddaughter.

Martha J. Hill Connell

INTERLACHEN - Martha J. Hill Connell of Interlachen died Friday at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville after a long illness. She was 63.

Mrs. Connell ran several bait stores in Putnam County.

She was born in Anthony and moved from Lake City to Interlachen 26 years ago.

Mrs. Connell was a 1954 graduate of Palatka High School.

She was a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence Connell of Interlachen; two sons, Bryan Connell of San Mateo and Larry Connell of Hilton Head, S.C.; three daughters, Gail Hunt of Jacksonville, Wanda Weatherington of Bluffton, S.C., and Gwen Henry Connell of Statesboro, Ga.; a sister, Nina Griffis of Starke; a brother, Theodore Francis Hill of Hastings; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

John W. Evered

John W. Evered of Gainesville died Sunday at his home. He was 71.

Mr. Evered was a retired meat salesman. He later raised quarter horses in Alachua.

He was born in Wellsville, Mo., served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and lived in Alachua County most of the last 22 years.

Mr. Evered was a member of the Abiding Savior Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Betty June Evered of Gainesville; a son, John Thomas Evered of New York City; a daughter, Sherry Larson of Gainesville; and a grandson.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America in Chicago.

Howard Bradley Jack

Howard Bradley Jack of Gainesville died Monday at his home after a short illness. He was 74.

Mr. Jack owned and operated NRM Wholesale Radio, a radio and TV parts store in Ridgefield Park, N.J., and Guardian Electronics in Ramsey, N.J. He later became a commercial real estate agent.

Born in Camden, N.J., he grew up in Tenafly, N.J., and moved from Ramsey to Gainesville 16 years ago.

Mr. Jack was an amateur ham radio operator and assisted in emergency disaster work.

He was a charter member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Gainesville.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy P. Jack of Gainesville; two sons, Galen Jack of Clermont and Brandon Jack of McIntosh; a daughter, Jeannine Kelley of Alachua; and three grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to Covenant Presbyterian Church in Gainesville.

Harold E. Crews

FORT McCOY - Harold E. Crews of Fort McCoy died Monday at his home. He was 67.

Mr. Crews was a retired road construction worker. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was born in Baker County and moved to Marion County 34 years ago.

Mr. Crews was a member of the Church of God By Faith.

Survivors include his wife, Redith Godwin Crews of Fort McCoy; two daughters, Pamela Kaye Williams of Bryson City, N.C., and Mary Ann Crews of Green Cove Springs; four sons, Gary Lamar Crews of Sparr, Ronald Sidney Crews of Anthony, Timothy Harold Crews of Ocala and Roger Eugene Crews of Fort McCoy; a brother, Ernest Crews of Raiford; two sisters, Zelia Bell Bowman of Olustee and Bertie Mae Godwin of Lake Butler; 22 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

John Fleck

John Fleck of Gainesville died Monday at North Florida Rehab and Specialty Care Center. He was 85.

Mr. Fleck was a private investigator. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was born in Vienna, Austria, and moved from New York City to Gainesville four year ago.

Mr. Fleck was Jewish.

Survivors include two nephews, including Geoffrey Fleck of Gainesville; and a brother, Walter Fleck of Gainesville.

Irene Lopucki

Irene Lopucki of Gainesville died Jan. 22 at her home. She was 78.

Mrs. Lopucki was a home designer and a sculptor.

Born in Detroit, she moved from Ann Arbor, Mich., to Gainesville 25 years ago.

Mrs. Lopucki received a fine arts degree from the University of Eastern Michigan in Ypsilanti.

She was a Catholic.

Survivors include four sons, Tony Lopucki and Reece Lopucki, both of Gainesville, Lynn Lopucki of Los Angeles and Bruce Lopucki of Cupertino, Calif.; three sisters, Beverly Scott of Chandler, Ariz., Victoria Ridge of Romulus, Mich., and Faye Maretka of Belleville, Mich.; and three grandchildren.

Ona I. Garrison McGriff

STARKE - Ona I. Garrison McGriff of Starke died Tuesday at Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville after a long illness. She was 84.

Mrs. McGriff was a retired nurse.

She was born in Cullman, Ala., and moved from Auburndale to Starke five years ago.

Mrs. McGriff was a Protestant.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Lee McGriff of Starke; a daughter, Dorene "Dodie" Botkins of Covington, Va.; and one granddaughter.

Heywood Michael McLeod

LAKE BUTLER - Heywood Michael McLeod of Lake Butler died unexpectedly Monday at Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville. He was 47.

Mr. McLeod was an engineering supervisor for the PRIDE Metal Furniture Factory in Raiford.

He was born in Clearwater and moved from Largo to Lake Butler 25 years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Louise Jones McLeod of Lake Butler; his mother, Loca McLeod of Worthington Springs; and two sisters, Alice Parrish and Melba Nettles, both of Lake Butler.
