Grover Talmadge Durden
Grover Talmadge Durden of Trenton died Thursday at North Florida Regional Medical Center after a short illness. He was 77.
Mr. Durden was a retired farmer and inspector for the state Department of Agriculture. He also served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Durden was born in Goshen, Ala., and moved to Trenton from White Springs 55 years ago.
Mr. Durden was a member of the First Baptist Church in Trenton. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Maude Durden of Trenton; a sister, Voncille Sumner of Trenton; a brother, Doc Durden Jr. of North Carolina; four sons, James Durden, Roy Durden, David Durden and Randy Durden, all of Trenton; two daughters, Betty Chesterfield of Gainesville and Judy Longfellow of Savannah, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Hugh Lamar Hurse
JACKSONVILLE - Hugh Lamar Hurse of Jacksonville died Friday at a Jacksonville hospital after a long illness. He was 66.
Mr. Hurse was a retired trucking dispatcher and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean conflict.
Mr. Hurse was born in Columbia, S.C., and grew up in Gainesville. He graduated from Gainesville High School and attended the University of Florida.
He moved from Gainesville to Jacksonville 45 years ago.
Mr. Hurse was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Jacksonville.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Jane Richter Hurse of Jacksonville; three sons, Brian H. Hurse and Timothy D. Hurse, both of Jacksonville, and Ronald K. Hurse of Tampa; two brothers, the Rev. Jack W. Hurse of Gainesville and William D. Hurse Jr. of Kingsley Lake; and six grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Carol J. Dees
BRANFORD - Carol J. Dees of Branford died in her home Saturday following a long illness. She was 60.
Mrs. Dees was born in Hennessey, Okla., and moved to Branfordthe Hatchbend community 22 years ago from Elizabeth City, N.C. She was a postal clerk at the Branford Post Office, and she was a member of Hatchbend Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Billy George Dees of Branford; one daughter, Sherry Neu of Tallahassee; one son, Douglas Dees of Tallahassee; one sister, Alice Tinsman of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii; one brother, Bryan Gundlach of Bradenton; and two grandchildren.
Ruth NesSmith Jamerson
WORTHINGTON SPRINGS - Ruth NesSmith Jamerson of Worthington Springs died Sunday morning in her home after a long illness. She was 91.
Mrs. Jamerson was a lifelong resident of Union County. She was a homemaker and a member of Providence Village Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Lorie Elixson of Worthington Springs; two sons, Willis Seay of Worthington Springs and Pat Seay of Starke; 17 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Joan Libardi Jannotti
Joan Libardi Jannotti of Gainesville died Saturday in Gainesville. She was 64.
Mrs. Jannotti was born in New York City and moved to Gainesville from there in 1977. She was a secretary at the Santa Fe Community College health science building, where she was involved in the Health Science Learning Lab. A "Joan Appreciation Day" was held in her behalf by students Thursday.
Mrs. Jannotti was a lifetime member and past officer for the Florida Association of Community Colleges and was a past officer of the Gainesville chapter of the National Federation of the Blind. She was a Catholic.
Mrs. Jannotti was preceded in death by two husbands, Michael Libardi and Angelo Jannotti. Survivors include one daughter, Marianne Bjorklund of Gainesville; two sons, Michael Libardi of Manassas, Va., and Richard Libardi of Marietta, Ga.; and one grand- daughter.
Clarissa Jeannette Pike Lee
Clarissa Jeannette Pike Lee of Gainesville died Saturday of a sudden illness. She was 104.
Mrs. Lee was born in Easton, Pa., and moved to Gainesville from Minneapolis in 1959. She was a homemaker and attended First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include one son, Sheldon B. Lee of Watervliet, Mich., two half brothers, Dr. Donald Pike of Traverse City, Mich., and Edward Pike of Gaylord, Mich.; three grand- children and five great- grandchildren.
Murrell Lee Pressley
Murrell Lee Pressley of Alachua died Sunday in the Ayers Health and Rehabilitation Center in Trenton following an extended illness. He was 76.
Mr. Pressley was born in Tampa. He lived in Alachua and Palatka before moving back to Alachua in 1965. He was a truck driver for Seaboard Coastline Railroad Co. for 23 years until his retirement in 1983. Mr. Pressley was a member of the New Oak Grove Baptist Church in Bland and a member of the Transportation Union in Jacksonville. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Eva L. Pressley of Alachua; one daughter, Sharon D. Malphurs of Alachua; two sons, Donald L. Pressley of Port St. Lucie and Glenn L. Pressley of Valdosta, Ga.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Maria Antonia Sanchez
Maria Antonia Sanchez of Gainesville died Saturday at Shands at Alachua General Hospital. She was 73.
Mrs. Sanchez was born in Cidra, Puerto Rico, and moved to Gainesville from Carolina, Puerto Rico, in 1995. She attended Iglesia Evangelica Bautista.
Survivors include two sisters, Ana Sanchez and Victoria Martinez, both of Gainesville; and several nephews and nieces.; two nephews, Edgar Martinez of Gainesville and Irving Martinez of Emerald Isle, N.C.; and two nieces, Idelisa Martinez of Atlanta, Ga., and Ilsa Martinez of Gainesville.

Woodrow Ottis Beauchamp Sr.
CHIEFLAND - Woodrow Ottis Beauchamp Sr. died Friday at his home after a long illness. He was 84.
Mr. Beauchamp was the founder and former owner of Beauchamp Hardware. He was also one of the founders of Drummond Community Bank in Chiefland and was a longtime board member.
Mr. Beauchamp was born in Judson and was a lifelong resident of Levy County.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chiefland.
Mr. Beauchamp was preceded in death by his wife, Macey Callaway Beauchamp.
Survivors include two sons, W.O. and Luther Beauchamp, both of Chiefland; three daughters, Ovieda Bishop, Frances Parnell and Susan Billings, all of Chiefland; 13 grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren.
Myrla M. Bishop
ARCHER - Myrla M. Bishop of Archer died Saturday at Shands at AGH. She was 78.
Mrs. Bishop was the retired postmaster of Archer.
She was born in Lakeland and moved to Archer 60 years ago. A member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church of Archer, Mrs. Bishop was a member and leader of the choir, a church organist and pianist, Sunday school teacher and leader of the Community Wide Prayer Partners.
Survivors include her husband, Berton M. Bishop of Archer; a son, B. Mell Bishop of Alcoa, Tenn.; a brother, M. Ellis Raulerson of Lakeland; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
James B. Gouger Jr.
James B. Gouger Jr. of Gainesville died Friday at his home after a short illness. He was 88.
Mr. Gouger was a retired contractor. He was born in Blairstown, N.J., and moved from Sebring to Gainesville about six years ago.
Mr. Gouger was a Presbyterian. He was also a Mason and an avid gardener and mineral collector.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cora E. Gouger.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. Richard J. Gouger of Gainesville and Dr. James B. Gouger III of Frederickburg, Va.; two granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter.
William Arthur Russell
William Arthur Russell of Gainesville died Thursday at Shands at AGH after a short illness. He was 72.
Mr. Russell was a builder and cabinet maker. He also served in the U.S. Army and taught at Job Corps in Gainesville.
Mr. Russell was born in Corning, N.Y., and moved to Gainesville 29 years ago from Binghamton, N.Y.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Alachua. He also belonged the American Legion Post 1645 in Binghamton and was a Boy Scout leader in Conklin, N.Y., for several years.
Survivors include his wife, Marion B. Russell of Gainesville; three daughters, Diana M. Drum of Gainesville, Kathy M. Russell of Alachua and Wendy F. Carver of Gainesville; three sisters, Beverly Jean Williams of Arcadia, Jacqueline I. Baker of Avon, N.Y., and Suzanne B. Williams of Troy, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Jeanne Schessler
Jeanne Schessler of Gainesville died Wednesday at Integrated Health Services in Gainesville. She was 73.
Ms. Schessler was a homemaker.
She was born in Conneautville, Pa., and moved to Gainesville 10 years ago. She was a Catholic.
Survivors include a son, David Biggs of Clearwater; two daughters, Kathy Felt of Gainesville and Mari Lu Grant Desjardins of High Springs; a brother, Russell Trout of Cleveland; a sister, Virginia Trout of Ohio; and one grandson.
