Marion Britten

BRONSON - Marion Britten of Bronson died Thursday at Florida Hospital in Orlando after a short illness. She was 71.

Mrs. Britten was a homemaker.

She was born in Fort Erie, Ontario, and moved to Bronson from Hollywood, Fla., 16 years ago.

Her survivors include her husband, Henry Britten of Bronson; a son, Robert Britten of Johnson City, Tenn.; two daughters, Elaine Ware of Cumming, Ga., and Denise Cross of Hollywood, Fla.; two sisters, Florence Wootton of Bronson and Bobbie Fairbairn of Trenton, Ontario; and five grandchildren.

Barbara J. Davis

HIGH SPRINGS - Barbara J. Davis of High Springs died Wednesday in High Springs after a long illness. She was 77.

Ms. Davis was a retired civil service worker.

She was born in Danville, Va., and lived in Gainesville 19 years before moving to High Springs four months ago.

She was a Presbyterian.

Survivors include a son, Charles H. Davis.

Ellis G. "Dick" Hardee

CHIEFLAND - Ellis G. "Dick" Hardee of Chiefland died at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville on Thursday after a long illness. He was 82.

Mr. Hardee was a retired truck driver.

He was born in Chiefland and lived there most of his life.

Mr. Hardee was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Green Cove Springs.

Survivors include his wife, Ennis M. Hardee of Chiefland; five sons, Ellison Hardee and Harold Hardee, both of Chiefland, Don Hardee and Mike Hardee, both of Jacksonville, and Gordon Hardee of Green Cove Springs; two brothers, Willard Hardee and Wayne Hardee, both of Chiefland; a sister, Betty Hair of Tallahassee; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Rena Greene Dunnam

LIVE OAK - Rena Greene Dunnam of Live Oak died Thursday at her home after a brief illness. She was 79.

Mrs. Dunnam was a homemaker.

She was born in McAlpin, and lived most of her life in Suwannee County.

She was a member of the McAlpin Advent Christian Church.

Mrs. Dunnam was preceded in death by her husband, Leo W. Dunnam.

Survivors include a daughter, Connie Townsend of Dowling Park; a grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

Lulu Viola Hoover

Lulu Viola Hoover of Gainesville died at her home on Friday. She was 96.

Mrs. Hoover was a homemaker.

She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and moved from Mishawaka, Ind., to Gainesville 20 years ago.

Mrs. Hoover was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mishawaka, Ind., where she was a member of the Women's Society, the Helping Hand Shimron and Kings Daughters Sunday school classes.

She served as president of the Mishawaka Visiting Nurses Association and the Women's Civil Club.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Hoover.

Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Johnson of Gainesville; two sons, Robert F. Hoover of Gainesville and Norman L. Hoover of High Springs; three granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren.

Sandra Lu Larsen

Sandra Lu Larsen of Gainesville died Wednesday at Hospice House in Gainesville. She was 52.

Mrs. Larsen was a physician's assistant.

She was born in Rockford, Ill., and moved from Minneapolis to Gainesville 20 years ago.

Mrs. Larsen was a member of the United Church of Gainesville and the Willis Bodine Chorale.

Survivors include her husband, Rolf Larsen of Gainesville; a son, Matthew Larsen of Gainesville; a daughter, Jessica Larsen of Gainesville; her mother, Lucille Kleinhaus of Rockford, Ill; a brother, Ronald Kleinhaus of Hemet, Calif.; and two sisters, Kay Karr of Rochelle, Ill., and Karen Muality of Stillman Valley, Ill.

Vernon Lilliston Linton

Vernon Lilliston Linton of Gainesville died Feb. 27 at her home. She was 98.

Ms. Linton was a homemaker.

She was born in Newport News, Va.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Sparky" Linton.

Survivors include a son, David Huber of Gainesville; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

S. Charles Maurice

S. Charles Maurice of Gainesville died at Integrated Health Services of Gainesville on Thursday after a long illness. He was 67.

Dr. Maurice was a retired professor of economics at Texas A&M; University. He wrote several economic books and articles. He enjoyed keeping in touch with former doctoral students, who now live all over the world.

Dr. Maurice was born in Huntington, W.Va., and moved from San Antonio, Texas, to Gainesville two years ago.

He was a member of the Southern Economics Association and the American Economics Association.

Survivors include his wife, Niccie McKay of Gainesville; a daughter, Anne Cragin of Seabrook, Texas; two sons, Charles Maurice of Woodlands, Texas, and Mike Maurice of Mansfield, Texas; a sister Sandy McKissick of Elderton, Penn.; and eight grandchildren.

Fred R. Schei

Fred R. Schei of Gainesville died at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville on Thursday after a short illness. He was 80.

Mr. Schei was a retired lithographer for Local Amalgamated Lithographers of America.

He was born in New York City and moved from Long Island to Gainesville 19 years ago.

Mr. Schei was a Methodist.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathryn Rumford and a son, Richard Schei.

Survivors include his wife, Pearlie Mae C. Schei of Gainesville; a brother, Gustave Schei of Ocala; a sister, Anne Weismandel of Gainesville; and one grandson.

William R. Winkel

William R. Winkel of Gainesville died Wednesday at his home after a long illness. He was 77.

Mr. Winkel was a restaurant manager. He also was a technical sergeant for the U.S. Air Force.

Born in New York City, he moved from Spring Hill to Gainesville two years ago.

Survivors include a son, Wayne Winkel of Gainesville; a daughter, Wanda Dawson of Fort Myers; a brother, Clifford Winkel of Sarasota; a sister, Alice Ormsbee of Little Rock, Ark.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to Hospice of North Central Florida.

Fons Hathaway Crosby

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS - Fons Hathaway Crosby of Keystone Heights died Thursday at his home. He was 71.

Mr. Crosby was a retired corrections officer. He also was retired from the U.S. Navy and had served in World War II.

Born in Newberry, he moved from Raiford to Keystone Heights 15 years ago.

Mr. Crosby was a member of the Fleet Reserve.

Survivors include two daughters, Judith E. Bason of Cedar Key and Melanie J. Kos of Kings Mountain, N.C.; two sons, Fons Carl Crosby of Chiefland and Gary L. Crosby of Kings Mountain; a brother, Jessie Crosby of Gainesville; a sister, Molly Clevenger of Gainesville; and nine grandchildren.
