Verna Elizabeth Clement

Verna Elizabeth Clement of Live Oak died Saturday in Gainesville at Shands at UF after a lengthy illness. She was 89.

Mrs. Clement was born in High Springs and moved to Live Oak in 1992 from Homestead.

She was retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a postal clerk in Naranja.

She was very active in the Anna Miller Circle in Homestead and loved crocheting and crafts.

She was a member of the Silver Palm Methodist Church.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Marguerite Harris Reed

TULSA, Okla. - Marguerite Harris Reed of Tulsa, a native of LaCrosse, died Friday. She was 82.

Mrs. Reed was a registered nurse who was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, surgeon and retired Army Col. Paul A. Reed.

She and her husband worked in many training bases during World War II. She later worked and volunteered as a nurse at University Hospital in Oklahoma City.

She is survived by her brother; three daughters; and six grand- children. D.D. McCloud

D.D. McCloud of Gainesville died Monday at Shands at AGH after a brief illness. He was 90.

Mr. McCloud was born in Augusta, Ga., and moved to Gainesville from Perry in 1951.

He retired from the Department of Agriculture after 18 years.

He graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor of science degree in agriculture.

He was a member of Grace United Presbyterian Church.

Survivors are his wife, Gladys Dobbins McCloud of Gainesville; three sons, T.W. McCloud of Dothan, Ala., Daniel Earnest McCloud of Princeton, N.C., and D.F. McCloud of Melrose; one daughter, Virginia Chaffin Olson of Orange Springs; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Patrick Thomas McPherson

Patrick Thomas McPherson of Gainesville died Sunday at Shands at AGH after a brief illness. He was 42.

Mr. McPherson lived in Gainesville for the past 19 years and was employed at Aware Communications.

He graduated from Northshore High School in West Palm Beach in 1974, where he excelled in sports and art.

He is survived by his parents, Hubert and Joan McPherson of Stuart; his grandfather, Hubert L. McPherson of Traverse City, Mich.; one brother, Michael McPherson of West Palm Beach; two sisters, Pegi McPherson-Gleason and Nancy Maniotis, both of Palm Beach Gardens; and his fiancee, Cherié Arias of Gainesville.

Leah Norene Riddle

Leah Norene Riddle of Gainesville died Monday in Putnam County in a car crash. She was 24.

Ms. Riddle was born in Gainesville and was a lifetime resident. She was a bookkeeper and a Baptist.

Survivors are her parents, Dale and Ray Nell Guynn of Hawthorne; one son, Cody Garrett Riddle of Gainesville; and two brothers, Robert Allen Guynn of Waycross and Troy L. McMichen Jr. of Hawthorne.

James Ramer Scott

James Ramer Scott of Gainesville died Saturday at the VA hospital after a brief illness.

He was 77.

He was born in West Virginia and moved to Gainesville from St. Augustine 35 years ago.

He was retired from the U.S. Navy, where he served 28 years.

He was Presbyterian.

Survivors are two daughters, Renee Feagle of Hawthorne and Terri Flake of Waldo; one son, Mike Hampton of Phoenix; and seven grandchildren.

Eugenia C. Townsend

Eugenia C. Townsend of Gainesville died Sunday at IHS nursing home after an extended illness. She was 89.

Mrs. Townsend was born in Battle Creek, Mich., and moved to Gainesville from Lake City in 1941.

She was a homemaker. She was a cashier at Camp Blanding during World War II and later worked at Wilson's Department Store in Gainesville.

She was also a former ceramics instructor.

She was a Church of Christ member and worked with the elderly at church. She volunteered with RSVP at Integrated Health Services.

Survivors are one daughter, Juanita T. Frazier of Gainesville; one son, Virgil L. Townsend of Windsor; two sisters, Harriett Parrott Salyer and Josephine Bass, both of Jacksonville; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Harold Watson

NAPLES - Harold Watson of Naples died Saturday in Naples Community Hospital after a brief illness. He was 68.

Mr. Watson was born in Logansport, Ind., and had lived in Live Oak about 12 years.

He was a computer salesman for Lake City Office Supply and a member of Melody Christian Center in Live Oak.

Survivors include his wife, Hedi Watson of Naples and two stepsons, John Brown and Andy Brown, both of Live Oak.

Francis "Frank" M. Bryant

Francis "Frank" M. Bryant of Gainesville died Saturday at Oak View Nursing Home in Williston following an extended illness. He was 78.

Mr. Bryant was born in the Bronx, N.Y., and moved to Gainesville 26 years ago from Massachusetts. He worked in real estate. Mr. Bryant served in the Army Air Corps in World War II and was a member of Moose Lodge 1140 and St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He had worked for the Medford, Mass., Police Department and owned a private investigation firm in Medford. Mr. Bryant also owned convenience stores in Massachusetts and Gainesville.

Survivors include his former wife, Barbara M. Bryant of Gainesville; one daughter, Michele Bryant of Gainesville; five sons, Robert J. Bryant, James T. Bryant, Richard J. Bryant and John T. Bryant, all of Gainesville, and Joseph T. Bryant of West Palm Beach; two brothers, Antonio Bolognese of Hyannisport, Mass., and Ralph Bolognese of Medford; one sister, Jeanette Orlando of Woburn, Mass.; and 10 grandchildren.

Alfred "Bird" Frazier Levins

Alfred "Bird" Frazier Levins of Windsor died Saturday at the Palm Garden Nursing Center. He was 71.

Mr. Levins was a retired plant assigner for BellSouth.

He was born in Wewahitchka and came to Windsor 50 years ago.

Mr. Levins served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force.

He was a Baptist.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Levins of Gainesville and Douglas Levins of Tampa; a brother, Hardy Gordon Levins of Homosassa Springs; a sister, Mildred Levins Fitzpatrick of Panama City; and one grandchild.

Michael Seth Robinson

STARKE - Michael Seth Robinson of Starke died Friday at Shands at the University of Florida following a sudden illness. He was 15 months.

Master Robinson was born in Gainesville. He was a lifetime resident of Starke. He was a Baptist.

Master Robinson is survived by his parents, Bobby and Angela Robinson of Starke; a maternal grandmother, Penny Smith of Lake Butler, a paternal grandmother, Penny Langrum of Starke, a maternal great-grandmother, Lilly Ann Gibson of Lake Butler; and several aunts and uncles.

Donna McDermont Hardin

LAKE BUTLER - Donna McDermont Hardin of Lake Butler died Friday at her home after a long illness. She was 51.

Mrs. Hardin was a retired florist.

She was born in Rome, Ga., and lived most of her life in Lake Butler.

Mrs. Hardin was a member of the Church of God in Lake Butler.

Survivors include her husband, Gene Hardin of Lake Butler; three daughters, Lynette Kinner, Selena Dobbs and Celeste Lobenthal, all of Lake Butler; a son, Eric Hardin of Lake Butler; a brother, Stephen McDermont of Hollister; two sisters, Connie Hodges of East Palatka and Sharon LePage of Hollister; and eight grandchildren.
