He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, an Army veteran of World War II and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; two daughters, Carol Langley of Miami and Cathy Schleman of Tampa; two brothers, Robert of Gainesville and James of Rochester, N.H.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. HAROLD " RAY" BOOKER SR., 73, of Gadsen, Ala. died Sunday in Talladega, Ala. A native of Gadsen, he returned in 1991 from Tampa. He was a truck driver for Gateway Trucking, Army veteran of World War II and member of the Teamsters Union. He is survived by his wife, Ruby; a son, Harold Ray Jr. of Lutz; three daughters, Becky Diaz and Sheila Hubbard of Tampa and Diane La Plante of Thonotosassa; a stepson, Burt Everhart of St. Petersburg; his mother, Kate of Gadsen; a brother, Frank of Gadsen; two sisters, Audrey Lothridge and Patricia of Gadsen; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
