Lillian Baker Arvin

OLD TOWN - Lillian Baker Arvin of Old Town died Sunday at her home. She was 71.

Mrs. Arvin was a homemaker and a Protestant.

Born in Springfield, Mo., she moved from Colorado to Old Town one year ago.

Survivors include her husband, John Arvin of Lake Port; three sons, Bruce H. Talley of Hawaii, Robert G. Talley of Cannon City, Colo., and Lionel Garcia of Chiefland; a daughter, Elizabeth Garcia Hall of Old Town; a brother, J.C. Baker of Springfield; five grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.

Zilpha Jones Bullard

ARCHER - Zilpha Jones Bullard of Archer died Monday in Gainesville. She was 98.

Mrs. Bullard was a retired seamstress.

Born in Baxley, Ga., she moved from Gainesville to Archer 14 years ago.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Archer.

Mrs. Bullard was preceded in death by her husband, Milton L. Bullard.

Survivors include two daughters, Estelle Hawkins and Evelyn Durden, both of Archer; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one great- great-grandchild.

Ellis Dean

O'BRIEN - Ellis Dean of O'Brien died Monday at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville after a short illness. He was 72.

Mr. Dean was a retired leaderman for Occidental Chemical in White Springs. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Born in Quitman, Ga., he moved from Pavo, Ga., to O'Brien nine years ago.

Mr. Dean attended Branford Church of God and was a member of American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Eunice Dean of O'Brien; three daughters, Gail Payne of Steinhatchee, Donna Weeks of Norman Park, Ga., and Kathlene Edge of Doran, Ga.; a sister, Minnie Williams of Quitman; a brother, Luther B. Dean of Pavo; six grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.

Elizabeth L. Hassan

Elizabeth L. Hassan of Hawthorne died Saturday at Integrated Health Services in Gainesville after a long illness. She was 77.

Mrs. Hassan was a registered nurse and a member of the North Presbyterian Church in Kalamazoo, Mich.

Born in Kemptville, Ontario, Canada, she moved from Kalamazoo to Hawthorne three years ago.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold N. Hassan.

Survivors include four daughters, Pat Born and Miquelyn Fennel, both of Augusta, Mich., Kerrann Adams of Hawthorne and Nancy Waddington of Geelong, Australia ; two sisters, Etta Heyler of Canton, N.Y., and Doris Leavens of Bloomfield, Ontario, Canada; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to Hospice or Integrated Health Services Activity Fund in Gainesville.

Denise Christine Holley

Denise Christine "Christy" Holley of Hendersonville, N.C., died Sunday in Hendersonville from injuries suffered in an auto accident. She was 28.

Mrs. Holley was a nurse.

Born in Gainesville, she moved from Jacksonville to Hendersonville two years ago.

She attended Florida Community College in Jacksonville and Blue Ridge Community College in Hendersonville, N.C.

She was a member of the Mud Creek Baptist Church in Flat Rock, N.C.

Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Barbara B. and George D. Moore of Waldo; her father; and her maternal grand- parents.

Christopher Paul Jones

Christopher Paul Jones of Gainesville died Saturday in Pascagoula, Miss. He was 22.

Mr. Jones was an operations specialist 3rd Class E-4 in the U.S. Navy.

He was a lifelong resident of Gainesville and a member of the Highlands Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Jones graduated from Gainesville High School in 1995 after lettering in football and wrestling.

He was an organ donor.

Survivors include his parents, Robert and Linda Jones of Gainesville; a brother, Michael Brian Jones of Gainesville; his grandparents, James E. and Betty Edwards of Gainesville; and his grandmother, Viola Jones of Gainesville.

H.W. Meserve

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS - H.W. "Bill" Meserve of Keystone Heights died Sunday at Shands at AGH in Gainesville after a long illness. He was 77.

Mr. Meserve was retired from Georgia Pacific. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War.

Born in Albany, N.Y., he moved from Jacksonville to Keystone Heights 37 years ago.

Mr. Meserve attended Keystone Heights Community Church and was a member of the Keystone Heights Golf and Country Club.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Meserve of Keystone Heights; five daughters, Donna Hice, Irene Dowling and Sandra Park, all of Keystone Heights, Linda Terrell of Palatka and Lora Bunce of Middleburg; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great- grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to Keystone Heights Community Church Building Fund.

Robert H. Murphy

Robert H. Murphy of Gainesville died Sunday at North Florida Regional Medical Center after a short illness. He was 82.

Mr. Murphy was a retired food service manager for Servomation Corp. at the University of Florida and Santa Fe Community College. He also retired as a senior master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and had served in World War II.

Born in Indianola, Miss., he moved from Tampa to Gainesville 38 years ago.

Mr. Murphy was a member of the North Central Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Virgie D. Murphy of Gainesville; a son, Robert B. Murphy of Gainesville; and a brother, Burke Campbell Murphy of Fayette, Miss.

Nina C. Quinn

WILLISTON - Nina C. "Clarice" Quinn of Williston died Sunday in Gainesville. She was 80.

Mrs. Quinn was a beautician.

Born in Deland, she moved from Chiefland to Williston 58 years ago.

Survivors include a son, Louis Pogue of Lake City; a daughter, Beverly Talbert of Miami; a brother, Luther White of Chiefland; three sisters, Hazel Clarke and Norma Schossler, both of Bronson, and Wilda Lane of Deltona; three grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren.

Jessie Lee Steadman

FORT WHITE - Jessie Lee Steadman of Fort White died Monday at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. She was 94.

Mrs. Steadman was a retired farmer and a homemaker.

She was a lifelong resident of Fort White and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Mrs. Steadman was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Steadman.

Survivors include a son, Norman Steadman of Fort White; and two grandchildren, Joe Steadman and Chontelle Steadman, both of Fort White.
