Linda Sue Dupree

JACKSONVILLE - Linda Sue Dupree of Jacksonville died Tuesday at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Jacksonville after a brief illness. She was 51.

Ms. Dupree was born in Lake Butler and moved to Jacksonville nine years ago.

She was a Baptist.

Survivors include two sisters, including Thelma Clemons of Lake Butler, and three brothers.

Lottie Mae Foster

ARCHER - Lottie Mae Foster of Archer died April 1 at Oakview Rehabilitation Care Center in Williston. She was 89.

Mrs. Foster was a homemaker and a member of Archer Church of God By Faith.

Born in Meredith, she moved from Gainesville to Archer 26 years ago.

Survivors include a son, Ulyesses Whitehead of Sopchoppy; and several step-grandchildren.

Lonnie Gordon Sr.

HAWTHORNE - Lonnie Gordon Sr. of Hawthorne died Tuesday at his home after a brief illness. He was 73.

Mr. Gordon retired as a sanitation worker from the city of Gainesville.

He was a lifelong resident of Hawthorne and a member of the C.B. Club of Peace in Hawthorne.

Survivors include his wife, Fannie M. Gordon of Hawthorne; a son, Lonnie Turner of Starke; a daughter, Carolyn Turner of Gainesville; two brothers, Otis Gordon of Hawthorne and Ernest Gordon of Anthony; a stepsister, Bertha White of Gainesville; and four grandchildren.

Thomas Edward Griffen II

MORRISTON - Thomas Edward Griffen II of Morriston died Saturday at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lake City. He was 82.

Mr. Griffen was a dragline operator.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Born in Crawford, Neb., he moved from Okeechobee to Morriston seven years ago.

Mr. Griffen was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was a Methodist.

Mr. Griffen enjoyed woodcrafting and every holiday season he decorated his yard with different seasonal woodcrafts.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Dorothy Griffen; and a daughter, Carol Marie Griffen.

Survivors include two sons, Earl Griffen of Okeechobee and Thomas Edward Griffen III of Ames, Neb.; two daughters, Judith Nordstrom of Blair, Neb., and Irene "Snookie" Griffen of Morriston; a sister, Mary Jane Donaldson of Tekamah, Neb.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Robert Hook

Robert "Doc" Hook of Gainesville died March 28 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center after a brief illness. He was 48.

Mr. Hook was a cook at the Clubhouse Grille in Gainesville.

He was born in New York.

Survivors include two brothers, Thomas Hook of Fort Lauderdale and Harold Hook of San Francisco.

Esther Antes Huch

LAKE CITY - Esther Antes Huch of Lake City died Monday at Lake City Medical Center. She was 84.

Mrs. Huch was a retired licensed practical nurse and had served on the Florida State Board of Nursing.

Born in Penfield, N.Y., she lived in Old Town for 16 years before moving to Lake City three years ago.

She was a member of the Old Town United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star .

She graduated from Rochester Business Institute.

Mrs. Huch was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Huch.

Survivors include two nephews, including Art Hosley of Columbia City, and two nieces.

Charlie Evans Langford

TRENTON - Charlie Evans "Unk" Langford of Trenton died Wednesday at his home. He was 80.

Mr. Langford was a retired farmer and former truck driver for Parker Brothers Limerock Co.

He was a lifelong resident of Trenton and a member of the Sand Fly Hunting Club and Union Baptist Church.

Mr. Langford enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Langford of Trenton; a daughter, Barbara Ann Rain of Gainesville; a son, Charles E. Langford of Trenton; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mattie McKenzie

ORLANDO - Mattie McKenzie of Orlando died Saturday in Orlando after a brief illness. She was 77.

Mrs. McKenzie was a retired homemaker.

Born in Hawthorne, she moved to Orlando 30 years ago.

Mrs. McKenzie was a member of the Mount Olive A.M.E. Church in Orlando.

Survivors include two sons; a daughter; two brothers, Otis Gordon of Hawthorne and Ernest Gordon of Anthony; a stepsister, Bertha White of Gainesville; and six grandchildren.

Ruby Williams Sandlin

Ruby Williams Sandlin of Searcy, Ark., died March 30 in Searcy after a long illness. She was 87.

Mrs. Sandlin was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ in High Springs.

Born in Mayo, she moved from Lake City to Searcy seven years ago.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Sandlin.

Survivors include five sons, including Carl Sandlin of Lake City; three daughters, including Francis Cannon of Branford and Jimmie Swilley of Alachua; 24 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Peg Taylor

Peg Taylor of Jackson, Tenn., died Monday at Methodist LeBonheur Healthcare in Jackson. She was 69.

Mrs. Taylor was a former congressional aid to U.S. Rep. John Cavanaugh in Nebraska.

Born in McKeesport, Pa., she moved from Gainesville to Jackson one year ago.

She received a bachelors degree in political science from Lake Erie Women's College.

Mrs. Taylor was past president of the Omaha League of Women Voters and was a member of the United Church of Gainesville.

Survivors include two sons, Jack Garlock of Jackson and Chuck Garlock of Baltimore; a brother, George F. Young of Pittsburgh; a sister, Marion Mueller of Pittsburgh; and six grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to the National Psoriasis Foundation in Portland, Ore.
