Alfred Heringer

LIVE OAK - Alfred Heringer of Live Oak died Tuesday at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville, N.C., due to injuries suffered in an auto accident. He was 39.

Mr. Heringer was a former truck driver for S&D; Trucking in Madison. He also was retired from the U.S. Air Force.

He was born in Lexington, Ky., and moved to Live Oak 12 years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Regina Heringer of Live Oak; a daughter, Rachel Heringer of Live Oak; three sons, David Heringer, Joshua Heringer and Jason Heringer, all of Live Oak; his parents, Alfred and Ruby Heringer of South Lebanon, Ohio; two sisters, Ruth Ann Griffin of Michigan and Irene Milby of Raleigh, N.C.; and a brother, Roy Heringer of Mississippi.

Lottie Tucker Hogan

Lottie Tucker Hogan of Gainesville died Monday in Gainesville. She was 97.

Mrs. Hogan was a homemaker.

Born in Pine Level, she moved from Nocatee to Gainesville 19 years ago.

Mrs. Hogan was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons in Melrose, the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary in Arcadia, United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 52, American Legion Auxiliary No. 230 and the Older Americans Council, all in Hawthorne.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Steven E. Hogan.

Survivors include two daughters, Myra Shaw of Hawthorne and Pauline Cowart of Gainesville; two sons, William E. Tibbits of Youngstown and Lloy E. White of Nocatee; a stepson, Robert S. Hogan of Sarasota; 19 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Henrietta Dorothy Karge

FORT WHITE - Henrietta Dorothy Karge of Fort White died Wednesday at her home. She was 87.

Mrs. Karge was a homemaker.

She was born in Philadelphia and moved from Melbourne to Fort White nine years ago.

Mrs. Karge was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Melbourne and the Women of the Moose.

Survivors include her caregiver, Henrietta McCrea of Fort White; a brother, Nathaniel Smith of Elizabethtown, N.C.; a sister, Mary Schliaish of Chicago; two grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great-grandchildren.

Phebe D. Lynn

Phebe D. Lynn of Gainesville died Thursday at Shands at AGH. She was 65.

Mrs. Lynn was a homemaker.

Born in Lawtey, she moved to Gainesville 40 years ago.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Lynn.

Survivors include four daughters, Teresa D. Crosby, Debra W. Sykes and Shirley A. Lynn, all of Gainesville, and Theda Stewart of Alachua; four brothers, Paul Dixon of Orlando, J.C. Dixon and Simon Dixon, both of Florahome, and Sherman L. Dixon of Jacksonville; two sisters, Onita Beville of High Springs and Esther Thomas of Green Cove Springs; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Frances Boots Baker

HAWTHORNE - Frances Boots Baker of Hawthorne died Wednesday at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala.

She was 82.

Mrs. Baker was a retired school teacher and a homemaker.

She was born in Beaver Falls, Pa., and moved from Candler to Hawthorne 55 years ago. She graduated from Florida State College for Women, now Florida State University,

Mrs. Baker was a member of the Hawthorne Women's Club, the First United Methodist Church of Hawthorne and the United Methodist Women.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William P. Baker Sr.

Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Baker Forrest of Ocala; a son, William P. "Pat" Baker Jr. of Hawthorne; a brother, John Raymond Boots of Candler; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to First United Methodist Church in Hawthorne.

Joseph Folks

TRENTON - Joseph "Ted" Folks of Trenton died Wednesday at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala after a brief illness. He was 66.

Mr. Folks was a self-employed salesman.

Born in Tampa, he moved from Fort Lauderdale to Trenton 30 years ago.

Mr. Folks was a Baptist.

Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Brown of Trenton and Julie Hilton of Goose Creek, S.C.; two sons, Roger Folks and Michael Folks, both of Fort Lauderdale; three brothers, Bill Folks of Lakeland, Calvin Folks of Tampa and Paul Folks of Florida; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to American Diabetes Association in Maitland.

Dorothy Newby Futch

Dorothy Newby Futch of Gainesville died Wednesday at North Florida Rehab and Specialty Center.

She was 84.

Mrs. Futch was retired from the personnel department of the U.S. Postal Service.

Born in Wrightsville, Ga., she moved from Thomson, Ga., to Gainesville 60 years ago.

Mrs. Futch was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, the Advanced Sunday school class, the United Methodist Women, the American Association of Retired Persons, the Retired Federal Employees and the Homemakers' Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Whaley Futch.

Survivors include her caregiver, June Martin of Gainesville.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to the Wesley Youth Fellowship in Gainesville.

Edwin Gibson

ORMOND BEACH - Edwin Gibson of Ormond Beach died Saturday in Ormond Beach. He was 80.

Mr. Gibson was a technical writer for Martin-Marietta in Orlando.

He was born in La Crosse and moved to Ormond Beach nine years ago. He graduated from Gainesville High School and served in the Army Air Force during World War II.

Mr. Gibson was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Bailey Gibson.

Survivors include a son; a daughter; three brothers, including Harry Gibson of Gainesville and Frank Gibson of Palatka; and five grandchildren.

Roy Gene Hicks

CROSS CITY - Roy Gene Hicks of Cross City died unexpectedly Monday in Old Town. He was 63.

Mr. Hicks was a retired correctional officer.

He was a Baptist and a lifelong resident of Cross City.

Mr. Hicks enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen Mattson of Lake City; two brothers, Frank Hicks of Jacksonville and Zack Richard Hicks of Tallahassee; three sisters, Lillie Chesnutt of Ocklawaha, Beulah Davis of Land o' Lakes and Betty VanZant of Hamlin, Texas; and one granddaughter.

Edna Boyd Young

BELLE GLADE - Edna Boyd Young of Belle Glade died Tuesday at Hospice Center in West Palm Beach. She was 81.

Mrs. Young was born in Valdosta, Ga., and lived in Micanopy for 18 years before moving from Bushnell to Belle Glade two years ago.

She was a Baptist.

Survivors include a son; two sisters, including Rosa Cook of Interlachen; two brothers, Mitchell Boyd and Thomas Boyd, both of Micanopy; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
