Evelyn Louise Epps

Evelyn Louise Epps of Philadelphia died Sunday at Einstein Hospital in Philadelphia after a brief illness. She was 62.

Mrs. Epps was an employee of the Temple University Medical and Dental School in Philadelphia.

She attended Lincoln High School and moved from Gainesville to Philadelphia more than 20 years ago.

Mrs. Epps was a Baptist and a member of the Martin Luther King Jr. Seniors Club.

Survivors include her stepmother; her grandmother; and three brothers.

Albert Joseph Jurecko

Albert Joseph Jurecko of Gainesville died Monday. He was 88.

Mr. Jurecko was a former sheet metal worker and shop foreman.

He was born in Pittsburgh and moved to Gainesville eight years ago.

Survivors include a son, Dr. Kevin Jurecko of Gainesville; a brother, Edward Jurecko of Corpus Christi, Texas; two sisters, Helen Larkin and Fez Taylor, both of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Sharon K. Dennis

BRANFORD - Sharon K. Dennis of Branford died Tuesday at her home after a long illness. She was 53.

Mrs. Dennis was a homemaker and member of the North Florida Road Riders Club of Lake City.

Born in Miami, she moved from Lake City to the Branford area four years ago.

Survivors include her husband, James A. Dennis Sr. of Branford; her foster parents, Bob and Stella Southerland of Nashville, Tenn.; a daughter, Jeanne Rene Kemper of Miami; a stepdaughter, Pamela Marie Dennis of Branford; two stepsons, James A. Dennis Jr. of Mayo and Travis B. Dennis of Branford; and two grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to Hospice of North Central Florida in Gainesville.

Lillie Bell Fagan Luckey

Lillie Bell Fagan Luckey of Gainesville died Monday at Shands at AGH after a brief illness. She was 74.

Mrs. Luckey was a homemaker and a volunteer for the Salvation Army in Gainesville.

Born in Perry, she moved from Perry to Gainesville 73 years ago.

Mrs. Luckey was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie H. Luckey.

Survivors include a daughter, Pauletta Davis-Sanders of Gainesville; two sisters, Sallie Hollis and Mildred Perry, both of Gainesville; a brother, Charlie Fagan of Washington, D.C.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Clabe Mitchell

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS - Clabe Mitchell of Keystone Heights died Tuesday at Shands at Lake Shore in Lake City after a long illness. He was 81.

Mr. Mitchell was a landscaper and a deacon at the Holy Temple of God.

He was a lifelong resident of Bradford County.

Survivors include two daughters, Ann Nelson of Hawthorne and Liz Henderson of Ocala; two sons, Leonard Mitchell of Keystone Heights and Earnest Mitchell of Citra; two sisters, Annie Maude Simmons of Edgar and Zelma Watson of Earleton; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Bloxham O. Polk

Bloxham O. Polk of Gainesville died Saturday at his daughter's home in Gainesville after a long illness. He was 96.

Mr. Polk was a retired truck driver and a lifelong resident of Gainesville.

He was a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Mount Carmel Baptist Church.

Mr. Polk was preceded in death by his wife, Essie Mae Polk.

Survivors include two daughters, Edith Wheaton of Gainesville and Ann Miller of Titusville; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Leah Grimes Morrell

LAKE CITY - Leah Grimes Morrell of Lake City died Tuesday at Palm Gardens Nursing Home in Lake City after a long illness. She was 94.

Mrs. Morrell was born in Sopchoppy and lived in Wellborn for 40 years before moving to Lake City 28 years ago.

She was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses.

Mrs. Morrell was a seamstress and enjoyed gardening.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Judson Morrell; and a son, Warren Melvin Morrell.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathryn Butler of Gainesville and Dorothy Helen Charles of Lake City; two sons, Leroy J. "L.J." Morrell of Lake City and Clayton R. Morrell of Asheville, N.C.; two sisters, Mildred Spears of Crawfordville and Montie Quigg of Sopchoppy; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Sammie Rivers Sr.

Sammie "S.M." Rivers Sr. of Gainesville died Friday at his home after a brief illness. He was 89.

Mr. Rivers was a retired construction worker.

Born in Georgia, he lived in Gainesville during the 1920s and moved from Jacksonville back to Gainesville three yeas ago.

Mr. Rivers was a deacon at the West Saint Mark Baptist Church of Jacksonville.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Coffee Rivers of Gainesville; six sons, Sammie Rivers Jr. of Alachua, Eddie Rivers of Jacksonville and Mark Rowe, John Rowe, Heartly Rowe and Gene Rowe, all of Gainesville; eight daughters, Ollie M. Harris of Jacksonville, Gloria D. Morris, Lola Ramsey, Shirley Williams, Martha McGill and Patricia Gainey, all of Gainesville, Betty Brown of Alachua and Deloris Williams of Newberry; a brother, Charlie Rivers of Jacksonville; a sister, Marie Howard of Jacksonville; 100 grandchildren; and 150 great-grandchildren.

Estelle Bryant Sands

Estelle Bryant Sands of Gainesville died Tuesday at Shands at AGH after a brief illness. She was 92.

Mrs. Sands was a homemaker and a member of the Trinity Missionary Baptist Church.

Born in Gainesville, she moved from Apopka back to Gainesville more than 40 years ago.

Survivors include a son, Lee Sands of Gainesville; two sisters, Audrey Wright and Louvenia McPherson, both of Gainesville; and two grandchildren.

John Sidney Stacy

BRONSON - John Sidney Stacy of Bronson died March 11 in Bronson. He was 39.

Mr. Stacy was a retired farmer and a lifelong resident of Bronson.

He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his caretaker, Louise M. Stacy of Bronson; his father, R.J. Mitchem of Chiefland; eight brothers, Russell Mitchem, Jackie Mitchem, Richard Mitchem and Leroy Mitchem, all of Bronson, Duane Mitchem and Robert Crowley, both of Gainesville, Shawn Greenlee of Chiefland and Willie Crowley;dk location five sisters, Gloria M. Rivers and Nancy M. Ivery, both of Gainesville, Annette Crowley of Williston, Alice Pinkley of Bronson and Lisa Mitchem of Trenton.

Allene Green Tadlock

MADISON - Allene Green Tadlock of Madison died Tuesday at the Masonic Home in St. Petersburg. She was 88.

Mrs. Tadlock was a teacher in the Madison County school system for 50 years.

Born in Jasper, she graduated from the University of Florida with honors and lived most of her life in Madison.

Mrs. Tadlock was a past Grand Esther of the Grand Chapter of Florida and past matron of the Madison Chapter No. 109, Order of the Eastern Star, and was a member of the Madison Women's Club, the Madison Country Club, the Madison Garden Club, Kappa Delta Gamma National Honor Society and the First Baptist Church in Madison

Survivors include a brother, Alonzo Frank Green of Gainesville; and two sisters, Lucille Selman of Madison and Rosa V. Zipperer of Gainesville.
