Carolyn Elise Powers Traylor
Carolyn Elise Powers Traylor of Gainesville died Tuesday at Palm Gardens of Gainesville. She was 87.
Mrs. Traylor was a homemaker and a member of Summerville Baptist Church in Summerville, S.C.
Born in Atlanta, she moved from Summerville to Gainesville 12 years ago.
Survivors include a son, Dr. R. Allen Traylor of Summerville; two daughters, Ann T. Stone of Valdosta, Ga., and Carol T. Woodall of Gainesville; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Wilbur E. Van Ausdale
Wilbur E. Van Ausdale of Gainesville died Tuesday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was 77.
Mr. Van Ausdale was a retired fire chief. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Born in Oberlin, Ohio, he lived there most of his life, retired to Fort Myers, and moved to Gainesville nine years ago.
Mr. Van Ausdale was a journeyman carpenter and past president of North Central Fireman's Association in Ohio.
He was a member of the International Fire Chiefs' Association, the Ohio Fire Chiefs' Association, the Masonic Blue Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star in Ohio.
Survivors include his wife, Peg Van Ausdale of Gainesville; a son, William A. Van Ausdale of Savannah, Ga.; a daughter, Susan Vickers of Pineville, N.C.; and three grandchildren.
Sallie Norman Crawford
STARKE - Sallie Norman Crawford of Starke died Monday at Whispering Pines Care Center in Starke after a brief illness. She was 97.
Mrs. Crawford was a homemaker.
She filled out her husband's term as Bradford County commissioner after her husband died in 1960.
Born in Starke, she moved from Jacksonville back to Bradford County 56 years ago.
Mrs. Crawford was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Starke.
She was preceded in death by her husband, E. Lawton Crawford; and two sons, Thomas Crawford and Herbert Crawford.
Survivors include a sister, Louise Edwards of Glen St. Mary; a granddaughter; and three great-grandchildren.
Betty Washbourne Mitchell
Betty Washbourne Mitchell of Gainesville died Friday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. She was 72.
Mrs. Mitchell was a registered nurse. She served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Born in Prairie Home, Mo., she was raised in Jay, Okla., and moved from Panama City to Gainesville 14 years ago.
Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. John Potter Mitchell Jr.
Survivors include three sons, John Mitchell, George Mitchell and Michael Mitchell, all of Gainesville; a daughter, Lynn Jennings of Gainesville; her mother, Georgia Lacy Stewart of Helena, Mont.; two brothers, Larry Washbourne of Tulsa, Okla., and William Washbourne of Montana; a sister, June Mackin of Helena; and five grandchildren.

Louise Willman Daniels
Louise Willman Daniels of Gainesville died Tuesday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. She was 92.
Mrs. Daniels was a retired service representative for Southern Bell for 45 years.
Born in Bridgeport, Conn., she moved from Hollywood to Gainesville 19 years ago.
Mrs. Daniels was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis P. Daniels.
Survivors include a son, Wayne Daniels of Gainesville; and a sister, Virginia Boyette of Jackson, Miss.
Ralph L. Fontana
Ralph "Raffaele" L. Fontana of Gainesville died Sunday in Gainesville.
He was 81.
Mr. Fontana was formerly employed by the Veterans Administration and later retired as an administrator for the Social Security Administration. He also served in the U.S. Army and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy one week after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, serving in the battles of the Marshall Islands, Leyte Gulf, Midway and Iwo Jima.
Born in Hackensack, N.J., he graduated from the Merchants and Bankers School of Business Administration, and moved from Charleston, S.C., to Gainesville 33 years ago.
Mr. Fontana was a third-degree grand knight in the Knights of Columbus and a member of St. Patrick's Church.
He enjoyed woodworking and creating glider swings, cradles and coats of arms.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Nina Gaines Fontana of Gainesville; a daughter, Carol F. Williams of Sacramento, Calif.; two sons, Ralph G. Fontana of Atlanta and Larry M. Fontana of Fort Lauderdale; two sisters, Clara Alvaro and Mary Galante, both of Hackensack; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Jack Frey Willis
BRONSON - Jack Frey Willis of Bronson died Sunday at Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville after a brief illness. He was 77.
Mr. Willis was an architect.
Born in York, Pa., he moved from Miami to Bronson eight years ago.
Mr. Willis was a member of the American Legion Posts 5625 and 200, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Moose Lodge No. 325 and the American Association of Retired People. He enjoyed traveling.
He was a Lutheran.
Survivors include three daughters, Jauiana Vallario of Gainesville, Dee Jay Hall of Elizabethtown, Ky., and Marsha McNitt of Walkersville, Md.; a son, Wesley Bomfa of Miami; a half-brother, Stephen Willis of Tallahassee; and a half-sister, Billie Laughland of Frederick, Md.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Donald H. Taylor
WILLISTON - Donald H. Taylor of Williston died unexpectedly Monday at Nature Coast Regional Hospital. He was 63.
Mr. Taylor was a printing equipment installer.
Born in La Grange, Ga., he moved from Maryland to Williston one year ago.
Survivors include two sons, Dale Taylor of Williston and Dean Taylor of San Antonio, Texas; a daughter, Donna Taylor of Williston; a sister, Peggy Wyatt of La Grange; and nine grandchildren.
Garnet Sarah Wilder
CEDAR KEY - Garnet Sarah Wilder of Cedar Key died Tuesday at Ayers Health and Rehabilitation Center in Trenton. She was 86.
Mrs. Wilder was a nurse and retired postal clerk for the Cedar Key post office.
Born in Springhill, Ohio, she moved to Cedar Key 65 years ago.
Mrs. Wilder was a member of the Cedar Key Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Steve Fehmerling of Cedar Key and Bobby Joe Wilder of Dunnellon; three daughters, Shirley Beckham of Cedar Key, Jannie Lee Williams of Arcadia and Kay Hallman of Chiefland; a brother, Kenneth Clark of Grove City, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Estelle Bailey
LIVE OAK - Estelle Bailey of Live Oak died Friday at the Lake City Medical Center in Lake City following a short illness. She was 92.
Mrs. Bailey was born in Live Oak and was a lifelong resident. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include one son, Edward Bailey of Live Oak; one half-brother, Ervin Thompkins of Live Oak; one grandson and one great-granddaughter.
