Billy Curtis Haire

Billy Curtis Haire of Hawthorne died Saturday in Shands at Alachua General Hospital. He was 56.

Mr. Haire was born in De Leon Springs and moved to Gainesville 15 years ago. He was a retired sheet metal journeyman and a member of Sheet Metal Local 435 of Jacksonville.

Mr. Haire was preceded in death by his daughter Tina Gayle Lewis of Trenton. Survivors include his wife, Carole Haire of Hawthorne; three daughters, Lanya Griggs of Hawthorne, Dolly Henley of Archer and Donna Haire of Trenton; three sons, James Haire of Gainesville, Mitchell Haire of Palatka and Aquilla Griggs of Hawthorne; one brother, Bennie Ray Haire of Newberry; one sister, Lela Mae Hamilton of Gainesville; 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Mary L. Saunders

Mary L. Saunders of Gainesville died Sunday in Ocala. She was 94.

Mrs. Saunders was born in Edgefield, S.C., and lived in Gainesville since 1988. She worked for the Internal Revenue Service and was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.

Survivors include one son, George M. Saunders of Ocala; one sister, Anabel S. Butler of Gainesville; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Elva F. Houser

TRENTON -- Elva F. Houser of Trenton died Monday at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. She was 81.

Mrs. Houser was a retired secretary for an insurance company.

Born in Muskegon, Mich., she moved from Pinellas Park to Trenton 16 years ago.

She was a Baptist.

Mrs. Houser enjoyed cooking, gardening and reading, and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, Gifford Houser of Trenton; a son, Martin A. Stidham of Whitehall, Mich.; a sister, Jean Oliver of Whitehall; and a brother, Laverne Godfrey of Whitehall.

Marie Ann McBride

Marie Ann McBride of Gainesville died Monday at Palm Gardens of Gainesville. She was 77.

Mrs. McBride formerly owned several businesses.

Born in Jersey City, N.J., she moved from New Jersey to Gainesville 17 years ago.

She was a Catholic.

Survivors include a son, Henry McBride of Gainesville; a brother, James Patrick OšMalley of Toms River, N.J.; one grandson; and four great-grandchildren.

Dorris Smith Mincey

GREEN COVE SPRINGS -- Dorris Smith Mincey of Green Cove Springs died Saturday at Orange Park Medical Center in Jacksonville after a long illness. She was 79.

Mrs. Mincey was a homemaker and a member of New Life Assembly of God Church in Kenai, Alaska.

Born in Hatchbend, she moved from Kenai to Green Cove Springs two years ago.

Survivors include her husband, Wilburn Mincey of Green Cove Springs; six daughters, Carol Roberts of Williston, Rosemary Colley of Kenai, Barbara Williams of Ider, Ala., Kay Justus of Green Cove Springs and Melba Justus of Middleburg and Vivian Parklin of Palatka; two sons, Albert Smith of Williston and Roscoe Smith of Bell; two sisters, Myrle Thomas of Bell and Flora Mae Jackson of Mayo; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Hildred Stanley Nicholson

WILLISTON -- Hildred Stanley Nicholson of Williston died Monday at Nature Coast Regional Hospital after a long illness. He was 79.

Mr. Nicholson was a retired master mechanic at Chrysler Corp.

Born in Hickory Point, Tenn., he moved from Chicago to Williston 16 years ago.

He was a Baptist.

Survivors include three daughters, Marilyn Johnson of Hueytown, Ala., Betty Stevens of Williston and Carolyn Brown of Clarksville, Tenn.; a stepson, Thomas Wall of Clarksville; a brother, William G. Nicholson of Clarksville; a sister, Pauline Buchannan of Paris, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren. Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to Hospice of North Central Florida.

Pearl Wilson Weeks

Pearl Wilson Weeks of Gainesville died Sunday at her home after a long illness. She was 77.

Mrs. Weeks was a homemaker and a member of Santa Fe Baptist Church.

Born in Green Cove Springs, she lived most of her life in Alachua County before moving to

Gainesville seven years ago.

Survivors include two daughters, Sylvia J. Williams of Gainesville and Arvilla V. Largacci of Palatka; a son, Lambert F. Sweat of Morganton, Ga.; a brother, Herbert W. Wilson of Jacksonville; four grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren.

Lewis Daniel Williams Jr.

Lewis Daniel Williams Jr. of Gainesville died Sunday in Gainesville after a long illness. He was 83.

Mr. Williams owned Archimica, formerly PCR Corp., from 1965 to 1980. He was a catalog sales manager and advertising manager at PCR and was a former adviser for Futures Golf Tour Inc.

Born in Elizabeth, N.J., he moved from Elkhart, Ind., to Gainesville 34 years ago. He graduated from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va.

Mr. Williams served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a Methodist.

Survivors include a niece and a nephew.

Billy Curtis Haire

Billy Curtis Haire of Hawthorne, who died Saturday, moved from Gainesville to Hawthorne 15 years ago. Additional survivors include a stepfather, J.D. Bonnell.

Jack Austin

Jack Austin of Gainesville died Monday in Gainesville. He was 75.

Mr. Austin owned and operated Austin Aluminum. He also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Born in Sylacauga, Ala., he moved from Sylacauga to Gainesville 25 years ago.

Mr. Austin was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene Austin of Gainesville; a daughter, Jackie Lynn Austin of Gainesville; three sons, David Meyer of High Springs, Robert Meyer of Palatka and Raymond Thibault of Gainesville; two brothers, Frank Austin Jr. of Sylacauga and Howard Austin of Gainesville; two sisters, Edna Smith of Anniston, Ala., and Dorothy Perdue of Georgia; and three grandchildren.

Martha June Bullard

LAKE CITY -- Martha June Bullard of Lake City died Sunday at Shands at Lake Shore Hospital in Lake City after a long illness. She was 66.

Mrs. Bullard was a homemaker.

She was a lifelong resident of Lake City.

Mrs. Bullard was a member of Lake City Church of God and attended Christ Central Ministries Church of Lake City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Clyde Bullard.

Survivors include a son, J. Douglas Bullard of Lake City; four sisters, Glenda Huggins of Lake City, Raye Williams of Crescent City, Bonnie Justice of Monticello and Judy Mathis of Lakeland, Ga.; and a grandson.

Phyllis Jane Burnett

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS -- Phyllis Jane Burnett of Keystone Heights died Monday at Shands at AGH in Gainesville. She was 70.

Mrs. Burnett was a homemaker.

Born in Saxtons River, Vt., she moved from Haddam, Conn., to Keystone Heights 10 years ago.

She was a member of Keystone Golf and Country Club and was a past member of the Rebeccas and the Elkettes.

Survivors include her husband, Norman A. Burnett of Keystone Heights; two daughters, Linda Epestein of West Hartford, Conn., and Mary Burke of West Haven, Conn.; two brothers, Carl Unwin of Brattleboro, Vt., and Donald Unwin of Rockland, Mass.; seven sisters, Eleanor Lyons of Camdon, Mass., Bunnie Bombard of Wester, Mass., Anna Rogers of Putney, Vt., Helen Cross of Vernon, Vt., Shirley Eddy of Brattleboro, Catherine Wright of Grafton, Vt., and Constance Gomes of Thompson, Conn.; and four grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to North Central Florida Hospice.
