Jimmie Morris Reid

Jimmie Morris Reid of Gainesville died Tuesday at Oaks Rehab Center in Gainesville. She was 85.

Mrs. Reid was a homemaker and a member of Parkview Baptist Church, where she was in the senior Sunday school class.

Born in Fitzgerald, Ga., she moved from Tallahassee to Gainesville 47 years ago.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Reid Sr.

Survivors include five sons, John L. Reid Jr. of Jacksonville, James Reid, Robert L. Reid and William E. "Ned" Reid, all of Gainesville, and Jack Travis Reid of Sneads; a brother, Damon Morris of Tallahassee; a sister, Eve Hayhurst of Orlando; 19 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Shirley Riggs

Shirley B. Riggs of Gainesville died Tuesday at Hospice House in Gainesville. She was 56.

Mrs. Riggs was a lifelong resident of Gainesville.

She was a member of Bethel Temple Worship Center.

Mrs. Riggs enjoyed gardening and fishing.

Survivors include her husband, Lernerd Riggs of Gainesville; two daughters, Brenda Buxton and Cheryl Riggs, both of Jacksonville; a son, Jimmy Dean Buxton of Jacksonville; a brother, Ed Bryant of Windsor; three sisters, Lois Baggs, Mary A. Haltiwanger and Irma Jean Duncan, all of Gainesville; and two grandchildren.

Paul B. Roberts Jr.

ALACHUA -- Paul B. Roberts Jr. of Alachua died Tuesday at his home after a long illness. He was 60.

Mr. Roberts was a machine tester at Driltech.

He also was a mechanic in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.

Born in Little Rock, Ark., he moved to Alachua 20 years ago.

He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Diann Roberts of Alachua; a son, Roy Roberts of Alachua; two daughters, Jackie Adams and Karen S. Roberts, both of Alachua; and five grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to Hospice of North Central Florida in Gainesville.

Rudolph Sams

WILLISTON -- Rudolph Sams of Williston died unexpectedly Friday at Shands at the University of Florida. He was 58.

Mr. Sams was a retired truck driver for Lorraine Stanton Vans in Ocala.

Born in Fairfield, he moved from Fairfield to Williston 10 years ago. He was educated in the Marion County school system.

He was a member of Mount Herman Methodist Church of Fairfield.

Survivors include his wife, Ophelia McNeil Sams of Williston; five daughters, Juanita West, Ida Hamilton and Carla Sams, all of Sarasota, and Angeline Sams and Lena Walker, both of Miami; two sons, Conrad Sams and Tracy Curtis, both of Archer; a stepdaughter, Tamara McNeil of Williston; three stepsons, Barry McNeil of Williston, Phillip McNeil of Atlanta and Geno McNeil of St. Petersburg; three sisters, Etta L. Martin of Fairfield, Barbara J. Petty of Louisville, Ky., and Cathalene Kinsler of Brandon; 14 grandchildren; and 11 step-grandchildren.

David Anthony Shockley

TAMPA -- David Anthony Shockley of Tampa died Sunday at Bayfront Medical Center in Tampa due to injuries suffered in an auto wreck. He was 24.

Mr. Shockley was a lab technician at Bryn-Alan Studios in Tampa and owned Rockstar Videos in Gainesville and Tampa.

Born in Dallas, Ore., he lived in Gainesville for 17 years before moving to Tampa two months ago. He was a 1993 graduate of Eastside High School.

Survivors include his parents, Ed and Cathy Shockley of Alachua; a brother, Justin Shockley of Gainesville; his companion, Diana Hackett of Tampa; and his maternal grandmother, Marie Barrone of Monmouth, Ore.

Destini Shantel Slocum

STARKE -- Destini Shantel Slocum of Starke died Monday at Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville due to injuries suffered after the car she was a passenger in hit a train. She was 8.

Destini was a student at Southside Elementary School.

She was a lifelong resident of Starke.

Destini was a member of Mount Pisgah A.M.E. Church of Starke, where she was a member of the youth choir.

Survivors include her mother, Peggy Petteway of Starke; three sisters, LatriceSlocum, Quaneal Slocum and Shania Petteway, all of Starke; and her grandparents, Isaiah and Mildred Petteway and Ron and Martha Porters, all of Starke; and her great-grandparents, Everett and Leola Morris of Starke.

Gertie Evelyn Spivey

ORLANDO -- Gertie Evelyn Spivey of Orlando died Monday in Orlando. She was 84.

Mrs. Spivey was born in Carbur, Taylor County, and moved to Orlando 50 years ago.

She was a member of Baptist Purity Church of Cross City.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Julian Spivey; and a daughter, Dawn Bell.

Survivors include three sons, including Jack Spivey of Horseshoe Beach; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Freddie Zorovich

HIGH SPRINGS -- Freddie Zorovich of High Springs died Tuesday at his home. He was 86.

Mr. Zorovich was a cement plant supervisor.

Born in Nerezine, Yugoslavia, he lived in Miami for 30 years before moving from Ocala to High Springs five years ago.

He was a member of St. Madeleine Catholic Church in High Springs.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Zorovich of High Springs; two sons, Larry Zorovich of High Springs and Paul Zorovich of Glendale, Ariz.; a daughter, Adrienne Key of Asheville, N.C.; three brothers, Richard Zorovich of Miami, Jack Zorovich of Long Island, N.Y., and Tony Zorovich of Yugoslavia; a sister, Zita Zorovich of Yugoslavia; and five grandchildren.

Gladys Godwin Adcock Bull

CHIEFLAND -- Gladys Godwin Adcock Bull of Chiefland died Thursday at Ayers Health and Rehab Center in Trenton after a long illness.

She was 79.

Mrs. Bull was a retired baker for Pinellas County schools.

Born in Climax, Ga., she moved from Dunedin to Chiefland 25 years ago.

She was a member of Otter Springs Full Gospel Church of Trenton.

Survivors include five sons, Jerry Adcock of Crystal River, Junior Adcock of Chiefland, Jimmy Adcock of Clearwater, Ray Adcock of Trenton and Jackie Adcock of Old Town; four daughters, Janette Cofield of Chiefland, Mildred Sinnard of Ontario, Calif., Patricia Riley of Old Town and Judy Spinelli of St. Petersburg; four brothers, Buford Godwin of Thomasville, Ga., Bill Godwin and Junior Godwin, both of Cairo, Ga., and Johnny Godwin of Tallahassee; four sisters, Grace Torres of Nuevo, Calif., Dora Lee Chargolis of Vidor, Texas, and Audrey Mae Godwin and Gloria Jean Hawthorne, both of Cairo; 27 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Nellie Harrelson

BOYNTON BEACH -- Nellie Harrelson of Boynton Beach died Thursday in Lake Worth.

She was 77.

Mrs. Harrelson was a homemaker.

Born in Pensacola, she lived in Hawthorne for seven years before moving to Lake Worth five years ago.

She enjoyed quilting.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Ann Weatherford of Davie and Janet Armeta Norris of Lake Worth; and three grandchildren.
