WEST PALM BEACH -- Mamie L. White of West Palm Beach died Monday in West Palm Beach after a short illness. She was 58.

Mrs. White was a former assembly operator at Energizer.

Born in Alachua, she moved from Gainesville to West Palm Beach six months ago.

She was a member of St. Mary's Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Chester Lundy of Jacksonville, N.C., and Michael Lundy of Cross City; two daughters, Tracey Lundy of Gainesville and Dora Smith of West Palm Beach; four brothers, Henry Jones, Percy Jasper and Edgar Jones, all of Alachua, and Jimmy Jasper of Gainesville; four sisters, Susie Atkins of Alachua, and Nellie Johnson, Marilyn Jones and Cornelia Jones, all of Gainesville; and six grandchildren.

Robert E. Thomas Sr.

O'BRIEN -- Robert E. Thomas Sr. of O'Brien died Tuesday in Live Oak after a long illness. He was 70.

Mr. Thomas owned and operated a lawn service. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Born in Clearwater, he moved from Chiefland to O'Brien six years ago.

He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in McAlpin and American Legion Post 63.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Thomas of O'Brien; two daughters, Rosemary Barnes of Trenton and Carol Thomas of Clearwater; two sons, Carl Thomas and Robert Thomas Jr., both of Chiefland; a stepdaughter, Linda Sue Hunter of St. Petersburg; three stepsons, David Goings of St. Petersburg, Thomas Goings of Clearwater and Teddy Goings of Portland, Ore.; four sisters, Beverly Hemphill of Dunnellon, Eloise Williams of Hallhill, LaVonia Angelburk of Clearwater and Patricia Lewis of Etowah, Tenn.; two brothers, Raleigh Thomas of Safety Harbor and Dewey Thomas of Santa Cruz, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Lila Rae Caldwell Yawn

STARKE -- Lila Rae Caldwell Yawn of Starke died Tuesday at her home after a long illness. She was 70.

Mrs. Yawn was a retired administrative assistant at Santa Fe Community College and was a former employee at Bradford County Clerk's Office.

She was a lifelong resident of Bradford County.

Mrs. Yawn received the Bradford County Chamber of Commerce Humanitarian Award and the Alachua/Bradford County Santa Fe Community College Women of Distinction Award in 1994.

She worked with the Bradford/Union Girl Scouts for more than 20 years and was a member of Matthews Museum Associates and First Presbyterian Church in Starke, where she was a former elder and treasurer.

Survivors include two sons, Terry Yawn of Starke and Jimmy Yawn of Alachua; two daughters, Dianne Mullins of Orlando and Lila Elizabeth Yawn of Rome, Italy; four sisters, Mary Jo Anderson of Giddings, Texas, June Edwards of Starke, Peggie Garcia of Camarillo, Calif., and Frances Belche of Lake Butler; and two grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to SFCC Altrusa Scholarship Fund, SFCC Endowment Corp. in Gainesville.

Albert J. Stanley

Albert J. Stanley of Gainesville died Wednesday at Hospice House. He was 78.

Mr. Stanley was retired from the U.S. Army. He had served during World War II and the Korean War.

Born in Mountain Park, N.C., he moved from Salisbury, N.C., to Gainesville 34 years ago.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Stanley of Gainesville; three daughters, Debra Brueker of Caracas, Venezuela, Elizabeth Morrow of Ocala and Catherine Fletcher of Gainesville; two sons, Jack Stanley of Houston and Donald Stanley of Valdosta, Ga.; a brother, Gilbert Stanley of Winston-Salem, N.C.; two sisters, Pauline Hayworth of Flagler Beach and Opel Nixon of Thurmond, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to Hospice of North Central Florida in Gainesville.

Mary Frances Williams

TRENTON -- Mary Frances Williams of Trenton died Wednesday at Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville from injuries received in an automobile accident. She was 71.

Mrs. Williams was a retired school bus driver. She also formerly owned a photography business.

Born in Tampa, she was a lifelong resident of the area.

She was a member of United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Williams enjoyed music, sculpting and painting.

Survivors include two sons, Larry W. Williams and John K. Williams, both of Chiefland; three daughters, Patricia Ann Williams of Cross City, Lisa Johnson-Robinson of Trenton and Frances Gail Williams of Gainesville; three sisters, Dorothy Ferrer, Erline Chafin and Libby Womack, all of Tampa; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Lynette Stewart Ryan

BELL -- Lynette Stewart Ryan of Bell died Wednesday at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville after a long illness. She was 66.

Mrs. Ryan was a retired assembly operator for General Electric.

She was a lifelong resident of Bell.

Mrs. Ryan was a member of Bell Church of God.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Raleigh L. Stewart and Robert Ryan; and two sons, James R. Stewart and Ricky L. Stewart.

Survivors include a son, Dewitt Stewart of Bell; two daughters, Geraldine Douglas of High Springs and Janet Jenkins of Bell; a sister, Ellen Fuente of Largo; nine grandchildren; and 16 great- grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to Hospice of North Central Florida in Gainesville.

Voncile Hilton Williard

BRONSON -- Voncile Hilton Williard of Bronson died Wednesday at Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville. She was 74.

Mrs. Williard was a retired certified nursing assistant.

Born in Bronson, she moved from Chiefland back to Bronson five years ago.

She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Mrs. Williard was a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, Don H. Williard of Bronson; a son, Frank Calhoun of Brandon; two daughters, Carlie Patton of Northport, Ala., and Terry Hamilton of Trenton; a stepdaughter, Crystal Singletary of Englewood; three stepsons, Daniel Williard of Okeechobee, Mark Williard of Sebring and Matthew Williard of Englewood; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Robert Eugene Karlin

Robert Eugene Karlin of Gainesville died Thursday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was 68.

Mr. Karlin was a teacher and a composer. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Born in Manitowoc, Wis., he moved from New York City to Gainesville one year ago.

He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Gainesville.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra L. Karlin of Gainesville; and two brothers, Thomas Karlin and Eugene Karlin, both of Manitowoc.

Carroll Jackson Key

CHIEFLAND -- Carroll Jackson Key of Chiefland died Thursday at Shands at AGH in Gainesville. He was 58.

Mr. Key was a retired heavy-equipment operator. He was a lifelong resident of Chiefland and a member of Mount Zion Church of Jesus Christ. Mr. Key enjoyed reading, word search puzzles and bowling.

Survivors include his mother, Flauda Key of Chiefland; two daughters, Brenda Key and Tammy McElveen, both of Chiefland; four brothers, Wilbur Key of Milledgeville, Ga., Dennis Key of Phenex City, Ala., Ted Key of Sebring and Paul Key of Chiefland; and two grandchildren.

Robert James Meredith

HAWTHORNE -- Robert James Meredith of Hawthorne died Thursday at his home. He was 77.

Mr. Meredith was a retired dairy and grain farmer.

Born in Federalsburg, Md., he moved to Hawthorne five years ago. He was a member of the Caroline County Farm Bureau, Tidewater Dairy Herd Improvement Association and the Oddfellows.

Survivors include his wife, Clara Elizabeth Hallowell Meredith of Hawthorne; five daughters, Joanne Greenage of Preston, Md., Carolyn Mercer of Hawthorne, Beverly Adams of Denton, Md., and Barbara Coleman and Debbie Booze, both of Federalsburg; a son, R.J. Meredith of Federalsburg; a sister, Louise Lane of Preston; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
