Millie C. Rhodes

Millie C. Rhodes of Gainesville died Saturday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. She was 86.

Mrs. Rhodes was born in St. Augustine and moved to Gainesville from Hastings 11 years ago.

She graduated from Ketterlinus High School in St. Augustine and was a retired farmer.

Mrs. Rhodes was a member of Wesleyan Methodist Church in Hastings.

Mrs. Rhodes was preceded in death by her first husband, John Lucas Smith, and her second husband, Jody Rhodes.

Survivors include one daughter, Marie S. Ayerbe of Gainesville; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Bertha Ida Brueggemann

Bertha Ida Brueggemann of Gainesville died Wednesday at Shands at the University of Florida. She was 84.

Born in Neillsville, Wis., she moved from Milwaukee to Florida two years ago.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing.

Mrs. Brueggemann was preceded in death by her husband, Ernst Herman Robert Brueggemann; and a son, Matthew Brueggemann.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Brueggemann of Appleton, Wis., and John Brueggemann of Gainesville; a daughter, Linda Brueggemann Brill Snipes of Jacksonville; a brother, Herman Gloff of Bloomingdale, Ill.; a sister, Ann Scarles of Milwaukee; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Edna Burnette

FORT MILL, S.C. -- Edna Burnette of Fort Mill, S.C., died Sunday at Mercy South Hospital in Pineville, N.C. She was 82.

Mrs. Burnette was a homemaker and child caregiver. She also formerly owned Wacassassa Marina and was a foster grandparent at Archer Elementary School.

Born in Hamilton County, she lived in Archer for 25 years before moving to Fort Mill nine months ago.

She was a member of Archer United Methodist Church and was a former member of Archer United Methodist Women.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace R. Burnette.

Survivors include a son, Dr. H.J. Burnette of Fort Myers; two daughters, Bonnie Burnette of Fort Mill, S.C., and Patsy Trainham of Archer; a sister, Veda Bergadine of Gainesville; a brother, Carey Hurst of Tallahassee; seven grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren.

Paul R. Martin

LAKE BUTLER -- Paul R. Martin of Lake Butler died Sunday at Brookwood Nursing Center in Starke after a long illness. He was 84.

Mr. Martin was a retired carpenter, millwright and cabinetmaker.

Born in Cecil, Ohio, he moved to Lake Butler 15 years ago.

He was a Lutheran.

Mr. Martin was a chief steward of United Auto Workers Congress of Industrial Organization Union.

Survivors include his wife, Helen McGee Martin of Lake Butler; a daughter, Mary Anne Pawlicki of Temperance, Mich.; four sons, William Martin and Phillip Martin, both of Graham, Paul Martin of Erie, Mich., and Alan L. Martin of Lake, Mich.; a brother, Harry E. Martin of Lake Placid; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Margaret McCraven Parker

WILLISTON -- Margaret McCraven Parker of Williston died June 20 at Nature Coast Regional Hospital in Williston. She was 90.

Mrs. Parker was a retired waitress.

Born in Levy County, she moved from Hollywood to Williston nine years ago.

She was a Methodist.

Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Parker.

Survivors include a brother, Cecil A. McCraven of Hawkinsville, Ga.; a sister, Maxine Beville of Williston; and several nieces and nephews.

H. Emory Peacock

LAKE CITY -- H. Emory Peacock of Lake City died Monday at his home. He was 79.

Mr. Peacock was a former machinist for Metal Products and later founded Metal Masters and Aztec Plastics in Lake City. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Born in Lake Wales, he moved from Lake Wales to Lake City 62 years ago.

He was an elder at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Third Ward in Lake City.

He enjoyed traveling, fishing and gardening.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Claris Douberley Peacock of Lake City; a daughter, Camille Russell of Lake City; and a step-grandson, Adam Russell of Lake City.

Charles Herbert Sutton

HAWTHORNE -- Charles Herbert Sutton of Hawthorne died Sunday at Shands at AGH in Gainesville after a short illness. He was 62.

Mr. Sutton was an automobile mechanic and a lifelong resident of Hawthorne.

He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing.

Mr. Sutton was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Sutton of Hawthorne; four daughters, Shirley Ann Sullivan of St. Augustine, Denise Reiss of Alpharetta, Ga., and Linda Myrick and Susan Ciccarone, both of Hawthorne; two sons, Charles Nathan Sutton and Timothy Wayne Sutton, both of Hawthorne; four sisters, Jean Sapp of Middleburg, Carolyn Urig of Starke, Hazel Tillman of Jacksonville and Shirley Martin of Sanford; and nine grandchildren.

Virgie Elizabeth Carlton

Virgie Elizabeth Carlton of Gainesville died Tuesday in Gainesville. She was 78.

Mrs. Carlton was a homemaker and a seamstress.

Born in Sevierville, Tenn., she moved from Knoxville, Tenn., to Gainesville 46 years ago.

She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Woodmen of the World, and National Association of Letter Carriers Association Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, Alton C. Carlton of Gainesville; two sons, Charles B. Carlton of Raleigh, N.C., and Gary E. Carlton of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and four grandchildren.

Emmoran Benjamin Cobb

Emmoran Benjamin Cobb of Gainesville died Saturday at his home after suffering the effects of a stroke four years ago. He was 84.

Mr. Cobb worked for the federal government as a personnel psychologist in the Civil Service Commission, the U.S. Army, the U.S. Air Force and the Marine Corps. He also had served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Born in Ballston Spa, N.Y., he grew up in the Albany, N.Y. area, and moved from Silver Spring, Md., to Gainesville 24 years ago. He received a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

Survivors include his wife, Eugenia Hill Cobb of Gainesville; a son, Jonathan Hill Cobb of Gainesville; and a daughter, Helen Grant Cobb of Gainesville.

Mark Tadeusz Jaroszewicz

Memorial services for Mark Tadeusz Jaroszewicz of Gainesville, founding dean of the College of Architecture at the University of Florida from 1976-86, will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 2, at Holy Faith Catholic Church, 700 NW 39th Road.

Mr. Jaroszewicz died June 16 while visiting Warsaw, in his native Poland. He was 78.

Mr. Jaroszewicz, who watched the College of Architecture grow into the nation's third-largest architecture college, formerly was head of the Department of Architecture at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater and also was a private architect. He moved to Gainesville 23 years ago from Oklahoma. Mr. Jaroszewicz was a member of the American Institute of Architects and was an architectural fellow.

Survivors include his wife, Christine Jaroszewicz of Gainesville; three sons, Stefan Jaroszewi of Austin, Texas, Jash Jaroszewicz of Boca Raton and Matthew Jaroszewicz of New York City; a daughter, Anne Jaroszewicz of New York City; and three grandchildren.

Patricia Anne LaRock

WILLISTON -- Patricia Anne LaRock of Williston died Sunday in Williston. She was 52.

Mrs. LaRock was a certified nurse's aide for Timber Ridge Nursing Home in Ocala. Born in St. Petersburg, she moved from Hernando to Williston six months ago

She was a Catholic.

Survivors include her husband, William A. LaRock Sr.; his son, William A. LaRock Jr. of Williston; three daughters, Sharon LaRock and Adrienne Painter, both of St. Petersburg, and Kelly LaRock of Hernando; her mother, Elizabeth Pieciak of Chicopee, Mass.; a brother, Stanley J. Pieciak of Hollywood, Calif.; two sisters, Winnie Hrapek of Stanford, Ky., and Sharon Zeilman of Williston; and 11 grandchildren.
