Mae Elizabeth Myrex

ARCHER -- Mae Elizabeth Myrex of Archer died Tuesday in Trenton. She was 85.

Mrs. Myrex was a homemaker.

Born in Campbell, Tenn., she moved from Lake Charles, La., to Archer 30 years ago.

She was a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, Allen M. Myrex of Archer; two daughters, Betty Cason of Baltimore and Peggy Parrott of Stuart; two sons, T.J. Anderson and Drexel Davis, both of Baltimore; two sisters, Lucy Housley of La Follette, Tenn., and Bertha Hardenburg of Los Angeles; 18 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Dominic Pensoben

Dominic Pensoben of Syracuse, N.Y., died Tuesday in Syracuse. He was 78.

Mr. Pensoben was a retired estimator for Zirilli Paint Co. He also was at the Battle of the Bulge in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a prisoner of war. He received a Purple Heart.

Born in Italy, he moved to Syracuse 70 years ago.

He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and the Carpenters Union.

Survivors include a brother, Saverio F. Pensebene of Gainesville; and two sisters.

Michael James Splain

HIGH SPRINGS -- Michael James Splain of High Springs died Tuesday at his home after a long illness. He was 43.

Mr. Splain was an automobile salesman at M&S; Auto in High Springs.

Born in Manhattan, N.Y., he moved from Christianburg, Va., to High Springs 19 years ago.

He attended Campus Church of Christ in Gainesville.

Survivors include his mother, Catherine Splain of Beacon, N.Y.; his companion, Sylvia Boles of High Springs; and a sister, Kathleen Splain of Hyde Park, N.Y.

Ruby Nell Watson Vinson

Ruby Nell Watson Vinson of Gainesville died July 8 at St. Anthony's Hospital in St. Petersburg after a long illness. She was 81.

Mrs. Vinson was a homemaker and a deaconess at the Second Bethel Baptist Church.

Born in Micanopy, she moved from Hastings to Gainesville 24 years ago.

Survivors include four sons, Willie R. Petecq and Lawrence R. Vinson Jr., both of Gainesville, Raymond Vinson of Dover and Bishop R. Vinson of Hastings; a daughter, Elizabeth Carolyn Vinson of Gainesville; four sisters, Gertrude W. Williams, Rosa McKnight and Mildred Watson, all of St. Petersburg, and Ruth Williams of Sewell, N.J.; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Jeffrey Thomas Parker

Survivors of Jeffrey Thomas Parker of Williston, who died Sunday, include his paternal grandmother, Debra Young of Long Beach, Miss.; and his paternal great-grandmother, Betty DeBord of Long Beach.

Roy Dewitt Bryant

DAYTONA BEACH -- Roy Dewitt Bryant of Daytona Beach died July 9 in Daytona Beach after an illness. He was 56.

Mr. Bryant was a landscaper. He served in the U.S. Army.

Born in LaCrosse, he moved from LaCrosse to Daytona Beach 15 years ago.

He was a former member of St. Paul Baptist Church in LaCrosse.

Survivors include a son; three brothers, including Frank Bryant of LaCrosse and Nathaniel Bryant of Bronson; and four sisters, including Emma O'Neal of LaCrosse, Rose Brown of Alachua and Sudie Batie of Gainesville.

Caroline Victoria Butler

LIVE OAK -- Caroline Victoria Butler of Live Oak died July 9 at Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville. She was 83.

Mrs. Butler was a homemaker.

Born in Philadelphia, she moved from Miami to Live Oak 25 years ago.

She enjoyed cooking, making jellies and tending flowers.

Mrs. Butler was a Catholic.

Survivors include two sons, George Butler of Brigantine, N.J., and James Butler of Live Oak; a daughter, Caroline Bennett of Miramar; a brother, James Hughes Jr. of Mount Holly, N.J.; three sisters, Stella Whalen of Ocean City, N.J., Joan Hughes of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Dolores Wyler of Ewell, N.J.; nine grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Francis Eugene Clawson

HAWTHORNE -- Francis Eugene "Gene" Clawson of Hawthorne died Tuesday at Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville. He was 72.

Mr. Clawson was a retired service center manager at Florida Power and Light, after having served as an officer in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Born in Derry, Pa., he moved from Miami to Hawthorne 12 years ago.

He was an elections inspector in Putnam County, a past officer for Star Lake Homeowners Association, a Little League coach, a Boy Scouts leader and a Miami Dolphins football fan.

Mr. Clawson was a Catholic.

He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Rains.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline Alderman "Polly" Clawson of Hawthorne; two daughters, Barbara Jean Sjostrom of Savage, Minn., and Carol Fowler of Florahome; four sons, Christopher Clawson of Sheboygan, Wis., Lawrence Clawson of Brunswick, Ga., Robert Rains of Melbourne and Scott Rains of Kennesaw, Ga.; a brother, Edward Earl Clawson of Latrobe, Pa.; a sister, Mary Jane McCollough of Erie, Pa.; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to Hawthorne Woman's Club Scholarship Fund or to the Boy Scouts.

Addie Lee Davis

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS -- Addie Lee Davis of Keystone Heights died Tuesday at Shands at AGH after a brief illness. She was 68.

Mrs. Davis was a certified nursing assistant.

She was a lifelong resident of Keystone Heights.

Mrs. Davis attended Santa Fe Community College.

She was president of the Usher Board at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Boatwright of Keystone Heights; six brothers, Willie Donley, Walter Donley Jr., Lloyd Donley, Ernest Donley and Rufus Donley, all of Keystone Heights, and Roger Donley of Hawthorne; three sisters, Rosa Speed and Lois Harris, both of Keystone Heights, and Mildred Hutchinson of Hawthorne; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Annie Lee Williams Greene

Annie Lee Williams Greene of Gainesville died Thursday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. She was 92.

Mrs. Greene was a former staff assistant for the Florida Department of Agriculture at the University of Florida. She was also a former school teacher in Dixie County.

Born in O'Brien, she moved from Dixie County to Gainesville 69 years ago.

She was a member of Gainesville Women's Club, Alachua County Association for Retarded Citizens, Alachua County Republican Party and the First Baptist Church of Gainesville.

Survivors include three sons, Claude Francis Greene III of Green Cove Springs, William Ray Greene of Gainesville and Gerald Fletcher Greene of High Springs; and one granddaughter.

Gussie Mae Jackson

Gussie Mae Jackson of Gainesville died July 8 at her home after a long illness. She was 93.

Mrs. Jackson was a homemaker.

Born in Valdosta, Ga., she moved from Hawthorne to Gainesville 45 years ago.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and of Springhill Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Willie Mae Ellison of Lake City and Bertha Johnson of Gainesville; a son, Emanuel Thomas of Gainesville; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
