Aletha H. Skrocki

Aletha H. Skrocki of Gainesville died Saturday in Gainesville. She was 88.

Mrs. Skrocki was born in Frankentrost, Mich., and moved to Gainesville from Saginaw, Mich., six years ago. She was co-owner of the Camera Center in Saginaw and was Lutheran.

Mrs. Skrocki was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Skrocki.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary A. White of Gainesville; one brother, George Bluemlein of Michigan; and two grandchildren.

Katherine Lucille "Katie" Wasner

Katherine Lucille "Katie" Wasner of Gainesville died Friday in a traffic accident. She was 24.

Ms. Wasner was born in Philadelphia, Pa., and moved to Gainesville from Wisconsin in April 1996. She was a music therapy student at Santa Fe Community College. Ms. Wasner graduated from St. Francis High School in Honolulu, Hawaii, and earned an associate in arts degree from Sterling College in Vermont.

She was an active volunteer in music therapy at Shands at the University of Florida and Shands at AGH.

Survivors include her parents, Winfried and Joanne Wasner of Jonesboro, Ga.; two sisters, Erika Wasner of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, and Christine Wasner of Jonesboro; one brother, Tom Wasner of Jonesboro; and maternal grandparents John and Lucille Coughlin of Gainesville.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to Meridian Behavioral Healthcare, 4300 SW 13th St., Gainesville, FL 32608.

John I. Bannister Jr.

John I. "June" Bannister Jr. of Gainesville died Thursday at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lake City. He was 86.

Mr. Bannister was a former rock lather. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was born in Albion, N.Y., and moved to Florida 50 years ago.

Survivors include four sons, John R. Bannister of Micanopy, David Bannister of Boulder, Colo., George Bannister of Roanoke, Va., and Dennis Bannister of Atlanta; four daughters, June Ronolder of Olean, N.Y., Joanne Rogers of Wiggim, Ga., Gail Bannister of Camelio, Calif., and Linda Bannister of Rock Island, Wash.; a brother, Roy Bannister of Point Breeze, N.Y.; a sister, El Mariecq Dibble of St. Petersburg; 20 grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren.

Sherrill Elaine Dozier

CROSS CITY -- Sherrill Elaine Dozier of Cross City died Monday in Milton. She was 46.

Ms. Dozier was a certified nursing assistant.

She was born in Gainesville and was a lifelong resident of Cross City.

Ms. Dozier was a member of Lydia Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Richie Dozier of Homosassa; two grandmothers, Berty Mae Valentine of Cross City and Flora Mae Cobb of Jay; and a brother, Darrell Valentine of Perry.

Johnie Franklin Copeland

ALACHUA -- Johnie Franklin Copeland of Alachua died Thursday at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville after a long illness. He was 67.

Mr. Copeland was a farmer.

He was a lifelong resident of Alachua.

Mr. Copeland was a 1949 graduate of Alachua High School.

He was a member of Alachua Church of Christ, Alachua Lodge No. 26 F&AM;, Florida Cattleman's Association, Alachua County Farm Bureau, Santa Fe Future Farmers of America and Spring Hill Booster Association.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Copeland of Alachua; two sons, Johnie Copeland of Sarasota and Bill Copeland of Alachua; a daughter, Kathy Powell of Alachua; a brother, Wilbur Copeland of Dasher, Ga.; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to Ronald McDonald House in Gainesville.

Ruth Catherine Whaley Duncan

Ruth Catherine Whaley Duncan of Gainesville died Tuesday at her home. She was 77.

Dr. Duncan was director of educational research at P.K. Yonge Laboratory School 1972-85.

She was born in Birmingham, Ala., and moved from Pensacola to Gainesville 45 years ago.

Dr. Duncan received a bachelor of arts degree from Alabama College in Montevallo, a post-graduate degree in theater from Pasadena California Playhouse Association, a master's degree in French and English from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and a doctorate of humanities from the University of Florida.

She was a member of Westwood Hills Church of God.

Survivors include two sons, Richard L. Duncan of New York City and Glenn T. Duncan of St. Petersburg; a daughter, Carolyn Jean Rehfield of Yonkers, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren.

James M. Egerton

CEDAR KEY -- James M. Egerton of Cedar Key died Thursday in Gainesville. He was 63.

Mr. Egerton was a retired iron worker. He also served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy.

He was born in Pontiac, Mich., and moved to Cedar Key 22 years ago.

Mr. Egerton was a member of the Local No. 387 in Atlanta.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan Blair of Lithia Springs, Ga.; two sisters, Mary Beckham and Freida Rain, both of Cedar Key; and two grandsons.

Mary Agnes Fuller

Mary Agnes Fuller of Gainesville died Thursday at Shands at the University of Florida.

She was 66.

Mrs. Fuller was a retired office manager for the Digestive Disease Association.

She was born in McCords, Mich., and moved from Michigan to Gainesville 44 years ago.

Mrs. Fuller was a member of First Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband, Harold Fuller of Gainesville; a son, John Fuller of Gainesville; four daughters, Anne Seraphine and Kathy Strickland, both of Gainesville, Barbara Rivers of Williston and Jane Wood of St. Augustine; two sisters, Joan Malfroid of Wyoming, Mich., and Lavonne Workman; and seven grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to First Lutheran Church of Gainesville.

Ferrell Guyula Hanselman

Ferrell Guyula Hanselman of Gainesville died Wednesday at North Florida Regional Medical Center after a long illness. She was 91.

Mrs. Hanselman was a homemaker. She also co-owned Chain-O-Lakes Ice Cream in Winter Haven.

She was born in Ocala and moved from Winter Haven to Gainesville 32 years ago.

Mrs. Hanselman was a member of First Lutheran Church in Gainesville.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, June Padgett; and a stepson, Webster Padgett.

Survivors include her husband, Wallace E. Hanselman of Gainesville; a sister, Garnett Thompson of Winter Haven; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to First Lutheran Church.

Mark Jeffery Middleton

TRENTON -- Mark Jeffery Middleton of Trenton died Thursday in Trenton. He was 41.

Mr. Middleton was a night stocker at Wal-Mart. He also served in the U.S. Navy.

He was born in Fort Myers.

He was a member of Fanning Springs Baptist Mission Church.

Survivors include his father, John Calvin Middleton of Panama City; his mother, Mary Jane Deas of Chiefland; a son, Adam Middleton of Bronson; and a daughter, Samantha Middleton of Bronson.
