Anna J. Fisher Hughes Cheesborough

NEWBERRY - Anna J. Fisher Hughes Cheesborough of Newberry died Thursday at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. She was 90.

Mrs. Cheesborough was a homemaker.

She was born in Jonesville and moved from Jonesville to Newberry 67 years ago.

Mrs. Cheesborough was a member of the Female Protective Society Lodge No. 2 and the Mount Zura Full Gospel Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, David Cheesborough of Newberry; a son, David Gerald Cheesborough of Newberry; a sister, Minnie Johnson of St. Petersburg; and five grandchildren.

Betheina Debose

NEWBERRY - Betheina Debose of Newberry died Saturday at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. She was 69.

Mrs. Debose was a homemaker.

She was born in Alachua and was a lifelong resident of the area.

Survivors include three sons, Jerry Darnell Scott of Gainesville, Carlton Debose of Chicago and Bernard Debose of Newberry; two daughters, Kathy B. Scott of Saba, Texas, and Beverly Ann Debose of Gainesville; two sisters, Edith McCoy of Chicago and Hazel Wallace of Newberry; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Daniel Thomas Hunter

O'BRIEN - Daniel Thomas Hunter of O'Brien died Tuesday in Lake City due to cancer. He was 59.

Mr. Hunter retired from the Restoration Museum of Arts for the state of Florida. He also was a sergeant in the U.S. Army Special Forces in the Vietnam War.

He was born in Lowndes County, Ga., and moved from Bradenton to O'Brien five years ago.

Mr. Hunter was a member of the San Juan Parrish in Branford and the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Ann and Margaret Ann, both of Minnesota; a brother, William Miles Hunter of Escondido, Calif.; and a sister, Mary Croson of Bakersfield, Calif.

Julia Lee Keys

Julia Lee Keys of Gainesville died Monday at Shands at AGH after a long illness. She was 86.

Mrs. Keys was a homemaker and a member of the Faith Baptist Church.

She was born in Madison and moved from Live Oak to Gainesville 46 years ago.

Survivors include three daughters, Louise Woods of Jacksonville, Sharon Thomas and Elizabeth Ann Dockens, both of Gainesville; three sons, Calvin Dockens and James Brown, both of Gainesville, and Evans Wright of Jasper; and her caregiver, Lestee Smith of Gainesville.

Eunyce Bloodworth Maura

Eunyce Bloodworth Maura of Gainesville died Tuesday in Gainesville. She was 83.

Mrs. Maura was a homemaker and former executive and legal secretary. She also was an artist who designed the official banner of the Florida State College for Women.

She was born in Aucilla, grew up in Gainesville and lived in Miami Beach for 25 years before moving back to Gainesville. She graduated from Gainesville High School and attended the College of Agriculture at the University of Florida.

Mrs. Maura was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Gainesville and the Gainesville Woman's Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Maura Jr.

Survivors include a daughter, Tina Maura Albee of West Palm Beach.

C. T. McGehee

NEWBERRY - C. T. McGehee of Newberry died Tuesday at his home after a long illness. He was 92.

Mr. McGehee was a farmer. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was born in Clay County, Ala., and moved from Clay County to Newberry 79 years ago.

Mr. McGehee was a member of the Newberry First United Methodist Church, the Newberry Lodge No. 150 F&AM; and the Alachua County Farm Bureau.

Survivors include his wife, Etta Mae McGehee of Newberry; two sons, Clarence McGehee Jr. and Bruce McGehee, both of Newberry; two daughters, Betty Holton and Glenda Green, both of Newberry; three brothers, Percy McGehee of Newberry, Murphy McGehee of Montevallo, Ala., and William C. McGehee of DeLand; three sisters, Margaret Nettles of Chiefland, Elizabeth Sullivan of Camilla, Ga., and Evelyn Ethridge of Chiefland; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Robert Benjamin Samuel Jr.

OCALA - Robert Benjamin Samuel Jr. of Ocala died Sunday at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala. He was 64.

Mr. Samuel was a former employee of the O.B. Samuel Funeral Home in Williston. He had served in the U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army.

He was born in Ocala, lived off and on in Williston while working at the funeral home and moved back to Ocala a year ago.

Mr. Samuel was a member of the Little Chapel United Methodist Church in Santos.

Survivors include two brothers, O.B. Samuel II of Atlanta and Reginald Samuel of Ocala; and a sister, Shirley Walker of Ocala.

Clara Lorraine Smith

MELROSE - Clara Lorraine Smith of Melrose died Sunday at Shands at AGH in Gainesville. She was 92.

Mrs. Smith was a former clerk for the city of Micanopy. She also was a former librarian in Micanopy.

She was born in High Springs and moved from Micanopy to Melrose four years ago.

Mrs. Smith was a member of the Micanopy Baptist Church.

Survivors include a sister, Maude Louise Raley of Melrose.

Willie Eva Thomas

WILLISTON - Willie Eva Thomas of Williston died Sunday at her home. She was 66.

Mrs. Thomas was a retired housekeeper.

She was a lifelong resident of Williston.

Survivors include three daughters, Cynthia Johnson, Sheila Johnson and Patricia Porter, all of Williston; a son, Lorenzo Woody of Goldberg, N.C.; her mother, Millie Nair of Jacksonville; four sisters, Alberta Everett of Clearwater and Irene Smith, Lavene Jones and Mae Frances Reaves, all of Jacksonville; three brothers, Nathaniel Thomas of Miami and Jonas Nair Jr. and Johnny L. Nair, both of Jacksonville; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Marian E. Wingerter

Marian E. Wingerter of Gainesville died Tuesday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. She was 86.

Mrs. Wingerter was a homemaker and a Methodist.

She was born in Erie, Pa., and lived in Cape Coral for 27 years before moving to Gainesville one year ago.

Mrs. Wingerter enjoyed bowling and playing cards.

Survivors include a son, C. John Wingerter of Erie; a daughter, Dolores De Michele of Gainesville; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

William Franklin "Bill" Bero

WILLISTON - William Franklin "Bill" Bero of Williston died Sunday in Williston following an extended illness. He was 85.

Mr. Bero was born in Fresno, Calif., and moved to Williston from Atlanta, Ga., 20 years ago. He was a retired sales executive with Thomas J. Lipton Inc., the Lipton tea company. He attended Tampa College - - now Jesuit High School -- and completed a sales and marketing program at Rutgers University. Mr. Bero was an elder and former treasurer of First Presbyterian Church in Williston and was an avid sports enthusiast.

Mr. Bero was preceded in death by his wife, Flossie Mathews Bero, who died March 28. Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Bero Goodman of Maitland, and Louise Bero Huey of Clemson, S.C.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to First Presbyterian Church in Williston.
