Fay K. McCormick

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS -- Fay K. McCormick of Keystone Heights died Wednesday at her home after a long illness. She was 73.

Mrs. McCormick was a former clerk at Clay Electric and was a Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church in Keystone Heights.

She was born in Jacksonville and moved to Keystone Heights 49 years ago.

Mrs. McCormick was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. McCormick.

Survivors include two stepdaughters, Barbara Ann Gillen of Jacksonville and Patricia Ceceliacq of San Antonio, Texas; and a brother, Neil K. Brown of Jacksonville.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to the First Baptist Church Building Fund in Keystone Heights.

Frank Perry Jr.

BRONSON -- Frank Perry Jr. of Bronson died Sunday at Hospice House in Gainesville. He was 59.

Mr. Perry was a lifelong resident of Bronson.

He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Eleanor and Raymond McIver of Bronson; three sisters, Marlene Harris of Philadelphia, Marjorie Bolton of Savannah, Ga., and Mozella Carruth of Safety Harbor; and two brothers, Sterling Stokes and Michael Stokes, both of Pennsylvania.

Katherine Rowell

Katherine Rowell of Portland, Maine, died Monday in Portland. She was 80.

Mrs. Rowell was born in Hibbing, Minn., and lived in Gainesville for 21 years before moving to Maine four years ago.

She was a graduate of Hibbing Junior College.

Mrs. Rowell enjoyed collecting antiques and ironstone china.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Rowell Sr.

Survivors include a son, Robert R. Rowell Jr. of Bigfork, Mont.; a sister, Edna Aagesen of Appleton, Minn.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Willie Jim Snipes

WHITE SPRINGS -- Willie Jim Snipes of White Springs died Wednesday at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lake City after a short illness. He was 66.

Mr. Snipes was a truck driver for a moving company. He also served in the U.S. Army.

He was born in Live Oak and moved to White Springs seven years ago.

Survivors include two daughters, Jo Ann Snipes of Jackson, N.J., and Lynn Diane Irvin of Myakka; a brother, John Snipes of Winter Haven; two sisters, Ila Mae Garland of Suwannee and Helen Cambas of San Diego; and three grandchildren.

Paul Wesley Watkins

ST. PETERSBURG -- Paul Wesley Watkins of St. Petersburg died Tuesday at Memorial Hospital in Tampa. He was 47.

Mr. Watkins was a retail manger for J.C. Penney Co. Inc. in St. Petersburg.

He was born in Neptune, N.J., and moved from Gainesville to St. Petersburg 16 years ago.

Mr. Watkins was a member of the King of Peace MCC Church in St. Petersburg.

Survivors include his mother; two brothers; a sister; and a companion.

Rowena Elizabeth Welch

Rowena Elizabeth Welch of Gainesville died of diabetes Aug. 25 at Shands at the University of Florida. She was 19.

Miss Welch was a lifelong resident of Gainesville.

She had attended Gainesville High School.

Miss Welch was a member of the Deliverance Miracle Revival Center.

Survivors include two daughters, Dareshia Flagg and Greneshia Reynolds, both of Gainesville; her fiance, Gregory Reynolds of Gainesville; her parents, Elder Arago Welch Sr. and Cathy McGill Welch of Gainesville; four brothers, Cornelius Tillman, Arago Welch Jr., Arago Welch same names, different kids and Joseph Welch, all of Gainesville; five sisters, Sabrina McCray, LaWanda Copeland, Sonja Welch, LaTosha Welch and Jacqueline Davis, all of Gainesville; two grandmothers, Catherine Green and Inez Welch, both of Gainesville; a grandfather, Clarence McGill of Gainesville; a step-grandfather, the Rev. John H. Green of Gainesville; a great-grandmother, Olivia Robinson of Gainesville; and a great-great-grandmother, Rebecca Jenkins of Gainesville.

Ione Pécot Coley

Ione Pécot Coley of Gainesville died Sunday at her home.

Mrs. Coley was a homemaker.

She was born in New Orleans and moved from Jacksonville to Gainesville 24 years ago.

Mrs. Coley was a member of University United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the P.E.O.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph T. Coley.

Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Shearon of Elkton, Md., and Janice Graves of Gainesville; a son, Ralph T. Coley of Cohasset, Mass.; a brother, Fernand St. Marc Pécot of Cocoa; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to University United Methodist Church Long Range Development Plan in Gainesville.

Florence Sprow Ergle

Florence Sprow Ergle of Gainesville died Sunday at her home. She was 78.

Mrs. Ergle was a retired secretary for the Alachua County School Board.

She was born in Perry and moved from Alachua to Gainesville 55 years ago.

Mrs. Ergle was a member of University City Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, W.H. "Dub" Ergle Jr. of Gainesville; a daughter, Sharon E. Hammock of West Palm Beach; and two grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to Hospice of North Central Florida in Gainesville.

Jane Sams Fletcher

OLD TOWN -- Jane Sams Fletcher of Old Town died Monday at Cross City Rehabilitation Center. She was 84.

Mrs. Fletcher was a beautician.

She was born in New Smyrna Beach and moved from DeLand to Dixie County 60 years ago.

Mrs. Fletcher was a member of Rock Sink Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Martha Jane Jones of Old Town; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to Rock Sink Baptist Church or to the Florida Baptist Children's Home.

William C. Hamm Sr.

RALEIGH, N.C. -- William C. Hamm Sr. of Raleigh, N.C., died Saturday in Durham, N.C. He was 80.

Mr. Hamm was a retired self-employed truss builder. He had also served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was born in Chiefland, attended school in Alachua and moved to Raleigh about 30 years ago.

Survivors include a daughter; a son; three sisters; and four grand- sons.
