Elsie Hinson Hall

Elsie Hinson Hall of Gainesville died Thursday at Shands at AGH following a brief illness. She was 94.

Mrs. Hall was born in Georges Lake and lived in Starke for many years before moving to Gainesville.

She was a homemaker and a member of North Central Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Muriel Fox and Patsy Phillips, both of Gainesville, and Evelyn Jordan of Ormond Beach; two sons, Raymond Hall of Titusville and Bobby Hall of Starke; a sister, Marie Self of Fort Pierce; ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to any charity that holds significance to the giver.

Janine Wingate Rempe

ALACHUA -- Janine Wingate Rempe of Alachua died in an automobile accident Wednesday. She was 45.

Mrs. Rempe was born in Lewes, Del., and moved to Archer three months ago.

She was a social worker at the Agency for Health Care Administration. She graduated from Cape Henlopen High School and the University of Delaware.

Mrs. Rempe was an Episcopalian.

Survivors include her parents, former Delaware State Rep. Jay D. Wingate and Frances E. Wingate of Rehoboth Beach, Del.; a sister, Cyndi Friedl of Jacksonville; and three brothers, Doug Wingate, Brad Wingate and Dick Wingate, all of Rehoboth Beach, Del.

Richard Benson Shaara

Richard Benson Shaara died Friday at his residence in Gainesville. He was 68.

Dr. Shaara was born in Jersey City, N.J., and moved to Gainesville from Tallahassee in 1969.

He was a physician. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean way.

Dr. Shaara was a Catholic.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Slutak Shaara.

Survivors include a daughter, Ellen S. Shaara of Ocala; three sons, Andrew M. Shaara of Gainesville; Richard B. Shaara Jr. of Savannah, Ga., and Bryan L. Shaara of Lake City; a sister, Gloria Marek of Houston and four grandchildren.

Mickie B. Ellis Spicher

Mickie B. Ellis Spicher of Gainesville died Thursday at Shands at AGH. She was 59.

Mrs. Spicher was born in Suwannee County and lived most of her life in Alachua County.

She was a retired bus driver for the Alachua County School Board.

She was a Baptist.

Mrs. Spicher was preceded in death by her husband, Carl. B. Spicher.

Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Monk of Gainesville; a son, Wayne Sheppard of Stanley, Va.; two sisters, Letha Todd and Annette Seay, both of Worthington Springs; two brothers, Otis Ellis of Brooker and Charlie Ellis of Ellisville; and two granddaughters.

Verona Wadley Watson

CEDAR KEY -- Verona Wadley Watson, a lifelong resident of Cedar Key, died Thursday at Ayers Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was 90.

Mrs. Watson was a homemaker and a member of Christ Episcopal Church of Cedar Key.

Survivors include a daughter, Rona W. Cason of Cedar Key; two sons, E.W. Watson and the Rev. Jack L. Watson, both of Cedar Key; a sister, Ida Belle Davis of Cedar Key; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to the Christ Episcopal Church of Cedar Key.

Margaret Moore

OLD TOWN -- Margaret Moore of Old Town died Thursday at her home. She was 61.

Mrs. Moore was a homemaker.

Born in Sarasota, she moved from Sarasota to Old Town 25 years ago.

She enjoyed fishing, reading and working with flowers.

Survivors include three brothers, Edward Joyner of Old Town, Charles Joyner of Branford and Wesley Joyner of Cross City.

Larry E. Koon Sr.

FORT WHITE -- Larry E. Koon Sr. of Fort White died Saturday at his home. He was 46.

Mr. Koon was a truck driver.

Born in High Springs, he was a lifelong resident of the area. He was educated at Santa Fe High School.

He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Cannon Koon of Fort White; two daughters, Bridgette Watts of Windsor and Glenna Marie Koon of Newberry; three sons, Larry Eugene Koon Jr. of Gainesville and Dennis Wayen Watts and Jimmy Edward Spears, both of Sevierville, Tenn.; three sisters, Sharon Douglas and Rita Sheppard, both of High Springs, and Kathy Purvis of Lake City; a brother, Mike Koon of Lake City; his parents, James R. and Nita C. Koon of High Springs; and five grandchildren.

Rosario Joseph PaPale Sr.

OLD TOWN -- Rosario Joseph PaPale Sr. of Old Town died Thursday at his home. He was 58.

Mr. PaPale was a truck driver.

Born in Baltimore, Md., he moved from Hollywood to Old Town three years ago.

Mr. PaPale was a member of the St. Agnes Cathedral.

Survivors include two sons, John PaPale and Rosario PaPale Jr., both of Old Town; three brothers, James A. PaPale Sr. of Shrewsbury, Pa., and Charles PaPale and Calvert Gorman, both of Maryland; four sisters, Doris Gorman, Virginia Cross and Lisa Schwartz, all of Maryland, and Frances Gorman of Washington; and seven grandchildren.

Mabel Puckett

JENA -- Mabel Puckett of Jena died Wednesday at her home. She was 91.

Mrs. Puckett was a homemaker.

Born in Springfield, Mo., she moved from Arkansas to Jena 30 years ago.

She enjoyed growing flowers and going to yard sales.

Survivors include her husband, Kermit Puckett of Jena; a daughter, Joetta Clements of Serverna Park, Md.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Frances Deane Steger Sherrard

Frances Deane Steger Sherrard of Gainesville died Saturday at Shands at AGH. She was 89.

Mrs. Sherrard was a homemaker.

Born in Fort Monroe, Va., she was a member of a military family and lived in many parts of the United States and overseas stations, including Hawaii, Puerto Rico and Austria. While in Salzburg, Austria, she and other army wives would feedfed trainloads of hungry refugees traveling through Salzburg in the middle of the night.

She moved from the Panama Canal zone to Gainesville 37 years ago. She formerly attended Gunston Hall in Washington, D.C.

She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, the Gray Ladies and was a former member of the Gainesville Woman's Club and the Hibiscus Chapter of the Garden Club. She was also a Pink Lady at Shands at AGH.

Survivors include her husband, Col. Robert Gibson Sherrard Jr. of Gainesville; a daughter, Angie Overton Sherrard of Columbia, Md.; a son, Robert Gibson Sherrard of Pompano Beach; and two grandchildren.
