Annie Mitchell Lewis

Annie Mitchell Lewis of Gainesville died Monday at Palm Garden of Gainesville. She was 90.

Mrs. Lewis was born in Dequincy, La., and moved to Gainesville from Magnolia, Miss., in 1976.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Gussie Evans Chapter of the Eastern Star and North Central Baptist Church.

Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by a son, William T. Lewis.

Survivors include a daughter, Ann Harrison of Alachua; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to North Central Baptist Church Library.

Elaine Powell Puckett

HIGH SPRINGS -- Elaine Powell Puckett of High Springs died Monday at Shands at AGH. She was 79.

Mrs. Puckett was born in La Crosse, Wis., and moved to High Springs from Starke in 1953.

She was a homemaker. She and her husband owned and operated Puckett's Jewelry and Clothing Store in High Springs for many years.

She volunteered at the elementary schools in High Springs. She was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons in High Springs and a supporter of Boy Scout Troop No. 69 in High Springs.

Mrs. Puckett was a member of First Baptist Church of High Springs, where she served in the Young at Heart Choir and the Sunday school.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover E. Puckett.

Survivors include a daughter, Miriam Baldwin of Tallahassee; and two grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to First Baptist Church of High Springs or to High Springs Boy Scout Troop No. 69.

James Knox Polk

James Knox Polk of Gainesville died Sunday at North Florida Special Care Center. He was 83.

Mr. Polk was born in Rogerville, Ala., and moved to Gainesville from Gulf Breeze three years ago.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War, retiring after more than 20 years at the rank of lieutenant colonel.

Mr. Polk was a charter member of Gulf Breeze Masonic Lodge. He was also a Past Master and Shriner.

He was a member of Gulf Breeze Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir.

Mr. Polk was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Frances Louise Pearson Polk.

Survivors include a son, James Michael Polk of Gainesville; a half-brother, Charles E. Polk of Pensacola; and a grandson.

Helen Juanita Henley Turner

STARKE -- Helen Juanita Henley Turner, a longtime resident of Starke, died Tuesday at her residence in Starke following an extended illness. She was 77.

Mrs. Turner was a retired Bradford County School Board employee and a homemaker.

She was a member of Starke Church of God.

Survivors include five daughters, Sheila Bassett, Jeanne Peacock and Carolyn Hardenbrook, all of Starke, and Marolyn Bradley of Keystone Heights and Tammy Myers, both of Orlando; three sons, Calvin Henley Jr. and Alvin Everett Henley, both of Starke, and Stephen M. Henley of Sweetwater, Tenn.; 20 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Helen V. Warren

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS -- Helen V. Warren of Keystone Heights died Monday at Brookewood Nursing Home following an extended illness. She was 82.

Mrs. Warren was born in Clifton Forge, Va., and moved to Keystone Heights from Aiken, S.C., in 1959.

She was a retired bookkeeper in the banking business.

She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Keystone Heights Garden Club and the Melrose Woman's Club.

Mrs. Warren was a member and former secretary of Keystone Heights Community Church.

Survivors include her husband, John W. "Bill" Warren of Keystone Heights; a daughter, Carol Coggshall of Clermont; two sons, John W. Warren Jr. of Plant City and Rick Warren of Wellington; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to United Children of God.

Annie Louise Carithers Wilson

Annie Louise Carithers Wilson of Gainesville died Monday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. She was 76.

Mrs. Wilson was born in Anderson, S.C., and moved to Gainesville in 1947.

She was a homemaker and an employee of Woolco, retiring after 15 years of service.

Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Truman Wilson.

She was a member of North Central Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include two sons, Nathan William Wilson and James L. Wilson, both of Gainesville; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Debra R. Rosekrans

BRONSON -- Debra R. Rosekrans of Bronson died Friday when her mobile home caught on fire. She was 49.

A California native, Mrs. Rosekrans moved to Bronson from Miami 10 years ago.

She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Survivors include two daughters, Michelle Packard and Melissa Packard, both of Hollywood, Fla.; two sons, John Leduc of Miami and Paul Leduc of St. Louis; and a sister, Cathey Gross of Riverside, Calif.

Florence E. Devlin

MORRISTON -- Florence E. Devlin of Morriston died of cancer Tuesday at the Hospice House of Gainesville. She was 46.

A native of New York, Mrs. Devlin moved to Morriston 20 years ago.

She was a homemaker and a Christian.

Survivors include her husband, Tony Alexander of Morriston; a son, Frederick Roesch of Williston; and a nephew, Jessie James Wallace of Morriston.

Nell Rose Cannon

BELL -- Nell Rose Cannon of Bell died Tuesday at Shands at AGH. She was 65.

Mrs. Cannon was born in Miami and moved to Bell 32 years ago.

She was a retired General Electric employee.

She was a member of Mount Nebo Baptist Church in Bell.

Survivors include her husband, V.C. Cannon of Bell; a daughter, Brenda Hart of Bell; five sisters, Toni Anderson of Grand Junction, Colo., Jean Nunn of Davie, Kathleen Weeks of Van Burnen, Ark., Becky Durden of Gainesville and Barbara Townsend of Bell; and six grandchildren.

Charles C. Fletcher

Charles C. Fletcher of St. Petersburg died Monday at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Bay Pines. He was 71.

Mr. Fletcher was born in Jacksonville and moved to St. Petersburg in 1953.

He was a cement finisher.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include a daughter, Sheryle Blake of Gainesville; three sons, Charles Fletcher, Octavies Fletcher and Jeffrey Fletcher, all of Gainesville; three sisters, Fannie Smith of Cleveland, Louisa Brook of Flint, Mich., and Mary L. Robinson of St. Petersburg; a brother, John L. Fletcher of Cleveland; nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
