Helen Elizabeth Shaver Sisler

Helen Elizabeth Shaver Sisler of Gainesville died Friday in Dowling Park after a long illness. She was 83.

Mrs. Sisler was a homemaker. She also worked for 10 years at Goerings Book Store.

She was a born in Troutville, Va., and moved 43 years ago from Columbus, Ohio, to Gainesville.

Mrs. Sisler earned a home economics degree from the University of Illinois.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, singing for years in the choir. She also belonged to the Gainesville Garden Club and the Gainesville Woman's Club. Mrs. Sisler also played the piano and loved to travel and bowl.

Survivors include two daughters, Susan Carolyn Sisler of Baldwin, Ga., and Betty Ann Sisler Rainbow of Gainesville; two sons, Raymond Keith Sisler and David Franklin Sisler, both of Gainesville; and six grandchildren.

Samuel Joseph Taylor Jr.

Samuel Joseph Taylor Jr. of Gainesville died Friday at Shands at AGH. He was 82.

Mr. Taylor was a retired district bituminous engineer with the state Department of Transportation, working for a total of 32 years with the department.

He also served four years with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during World War II and built homes in Gainesville while in private business.

An 11th generation Floridian, Mr. Taylor was born in Lakeland and lived most of his life in Gainesville.

He belonged to the North Central Baptist Church and was a past member of the Oddfellow Colfax Lodge #2.

Survivors include his wife, Orpha Lee Hill Taylor of Gainesville; three daughters, Shirley Jane Swindell, Linda Lou Black and Augusta Belle Previc, all of Gainesville; a son, Sam J. Taylor III of London, Ky.; two sisters, Mildred Augusta Williams of Inverness and Maryjo Davis of Gainesville; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Ellen C. Tyre

CRAWFORDVILLE - Ellen C. Tyre of Crawfordville died Thursday at her home. She was 83.

Mrs. Tyre was a retired payroll clerk for Koppers Industries Inc. in Gainesville.

Born in Flint, Mich., she lived in Gainesville for about 40 years. She moved five years ago from High Springs to Crawfordville.

Mrs. Tyre belonged to the First Church of the Nazarene in Gainesville, serving as deaconess and organist.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth W. Tyre Sr. of Crawfordville and Marrell H. Tyre of Michigan; a sister, Ruth Whiddon of Gainesville; two grandsons and four great-grandchildren.

Shuford Jenkins Cagle

Shuford Jenkins Cagle of Gainesville died Sunday at Shands at AGH. He was 77.

Mr. Cagle was a retired automobile dealer. He served in the Merchant Marines.

He was born in Andrews, N.C., grew up in Sylva, N.C., and moved from Jacksonville to Gainesville 36 years ago.

Mr. Cagle was a member of the Bowling Hall of Fame.

He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Vernoy Moore Cagle of Gainesville; a daughter, Fonda Wood of Gainesville; three sons, Ronald Eugene Cagle of Fairview, N.C., Gary Frazier of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Boyd Blanton Cagle of Nashville, Tenn.; a brother, Fred Cagle of Marrietta, Ga.; two sisters, Bessie Buchanan of Sylva, N.C., and Gertrude Sorrels of Jacksonville; and four grandchildren.

Howard Everett Creasman

CEDAR KEY -- Howard Everett Creasman of Cedar Key died Thursday in his home following a short illness. He was 74.

Mr. Creasman was born in Old Fort, N.C., and moved to Cedar Key from Homestead 19 years ago. He was a retired journeyman electrician, a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 349. He was also an Episcopalian and was active in the Cedar Key Lion's Club, of which he was man of the year in 1984, 1993 and 1996 and a member of the board of directors.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Frances Creasman of Cedar Key; a son, Ronald Creasman of Miami; three daughters, Carol Perry, Linda Hudgins and Sharon Spadaro, all of Homestead; eight grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren.

Sarah C. Macnichol

Sarah C. Macnichol of Gainesville died Monday in Gainesville. She was 74.

Mrs. Macnichol retired as a registered nurse from the North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center.

She was born in Fulton, Miss., and moved from Washington, D.C., and moved to Gainesville 18 years ago.

Mrs. Macnichol was an Episcopalian.

Survivors include three daughters, Karen Stabler, Nancy Macnichol and Janet M. Gardiner, all of Gainesville; three sons, Duncan Macnichol of St. Cloud, Bruce Macnichol of Powell, Ohio, and Angus Macnichol of Gainesville; three sisters, Judy Williamson of Cabot, Ark., Mae Slack of Tupelo, Miss., and Susan Wills of Arkansas; and five grandchildren.

Ronald Michael Shealy

Ronald Michael Shealy of Gainesville died Sunday at Shands at AGH. He was 22.

Mr. Shealy was an office manager. He was a lifelong resident of Gainesville. Mr. Shealy was a member of Fairbanks Baptist Church. He enjoyed landscaping, flowers, cooking and fishing.

Survivors include his father, Larry James Shealy Sr. of Gainesville; his mother, Shirley Ann Rigdon Shealy of Gainesville; two brothers, Larry Shealy Jr. and John C. Shealy, both of Gainesville; and his grandparents, James and Velma Rigdon of Gainesville.

Sue Wicker Wellman

WILLISTON -- Sue Wicker Wellman of Williston died Monday in Williston. She was 92.

Mrs. Wellman was a teacher and owned a clothing store. She later ran a Chevrolet dealership after the death of her husband, Herman Wellman.

She was born in Montezuma, Ga., and moved to Williston 76 years ago.

Mrs. Wellman helped establish the Williston Woman's Club and was a past president. She was also a past president of the Parent-Teacher Association.

She attended the Presbyterian and the Methodist churches of Williston and the Weselyan Circle.

Survivors include a daughter, Annie Sue Trimmercq of Crystal River; a sister, Judy Roberts of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Amma Rose Lord

TAMPA -- Amma Rose Lord of Tampa died Thursday at Palm Garden of Tampa. She was 97.

Mrs. Lord was a homemaker.

She was born in Bell and moved from Starke to Tampa two years ago.

Mrs. Lord was a Baptist.

Survivors include two daughters, Murray Lindsey of Tampa and Carolyn Dodds of Palatka; two stepsons, Randle Lord of Bell and Hilbert Lord of Trenton; 16 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren.

Joseph Leo Healy

Joseph Leo Healy of Gainesville died Friday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was 71.

Mr. Healy was a medical administrator at the University of Florida's Family Practice Medical Group. He also served in the U.S. Army.

He was born in Piedmont, W.Va., and moved from Manhattan, N.Y., to Gainesville 19 years ago.

Mr. Healy was a Roman Catholic.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne L. Healy of Gainesville; two sons, Patrick F. Healy of Melbourne and Christopher Joseph Healy of Narcoossee; a daughter, Janis Marie Petrie of Orlando; a brother, Paul Healy of Westernport, Md.; a sister, Eileen Gillespie of Westernport; and five grandchildren.

Lucy Irene Fletcher Smith

TALLAHASSEE -- Lucy Irene Fletcher Smith of Tallahassee died Thursday in Tallahassee. She was 96.

Mrs. Smith was born in Wacahoota and moved to Tallahassee 12 years ago.

She was a member of Wacahoota United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter; several nieces and nephews in the Wacahoota area; three grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to Wacahoota United Methodist Church cemetery Fund c/o Arie Smith in Micanopy.
