Dolores Mae Butler

Dolores Mae Butler of Harvest, Ala., died Thursday. She was 61.

Mrs. Butler was born in Morris, Minn., and moved to Alabama in 1987 following her husband's 30-year service in the U.S. Navy. She was Baptist. She was in the Auxiliary Club at Athens/Limestone Hospital in Athens, Ala.

Survivors include her husband, John E. Butler of Harvest, Ala.; a daughter, Pamela Brunt of Keystone Heights; a brother, Bob Wollitz of Bakersville, Calif.; and two grandsons, Nathan Brunt and Aaron Brunt, both of Keystone Heights.

Richard M. Carter

Richard M. Carter of Gainesville died Friday in Gainesville. He was 77.

Mr. Carter was born in Tacoma, Wash., and lived in Vashon, Wash., before moving to Gainesville in 1999.

He worked for AT&T.;

Mr. Carter served in the U.S. Army in Korea.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Warner of Oregon City, Ore., and Anita Crabtree of Kent, Wash.; a son and daughter-in-law, Randy L. and Tina Carter of Gainesville; and four grandchildren, Marvin Carter of Vashon, Wash., and Jeffrey Carter, Nona Carter and Tim Carter, all of Gainesville.

Ann Berry Castlen

LAKE BUTLER - Ann Berry Castlen, a lifelong resident of Union County, died at her residence following a long illness. She was 59.

Mrs. Castlen was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, Patrick W. Castlen of Lake Butler; three daughters, Katrina Childree Garris of Rincon, Ga., Angela Castlen of Lake Butler and Patricia Castlen of Jacksonville; three sons, Chris Childree of Rincon, Ga., Angela Castlen of Lake Butler and Edward Castlen of Jacksonville; her mother, Annie Cowart of Rincon, Ga.; and seven grandchildren.

Thomas L. Hyde Sr.

Thomas L. Hyde Sr. of Neptune Beach died Wednesday following a lengthy illness. He was 84.

Mr. Hyde owned a summer house in Hawthorne.

He was the vice president and general manager of Kent Theatres in Neptune Beach.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include a daughter, Betsy H. Fogg of Neptune Beach; two sons, Bolivar Hyde of Jacksonville and Tim Hyde of Jacksonville Beach; and numerous extended family living in the area.

Gladys L. Mason

Gladys L. Mason of Gainesville died Monday in Trenton. She was 87.

Mrs. Mason was born in Tennessee, where she lived most of her life as a homemaker.

She was a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Mason.

In 1996 she moved to Gainesville to be near her son, William T. Mason Jr. of Gainesville.

She also is survived by two daughters, Barbara Kay Parrish of New Smyrna Beach and Frances L. Gibson of Gainesboro, Tenn.; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth G. Morin

ST. CLOUD - Elizabeth G. Morin of St. Cloud died Thursday. She was 75.

The Pennsylvania native was a former legal secretary and property manager. She was a founding member of the St. Francis Anglican Church.

Local survivors include a daughter, Jean Cobb of Gainesville.

Janie H. Norton

Janie H. Norton of Gainesville died Wednesday at Shands at AGH following a brief illness.

She was 85.

Mrs. Norton was born in Camden, S.C., and moved to Gainesville from Archer 47 years ago.

She was a teacher in Alachua County for 35 years and a member of the Alachua County Retired Educators Association.

She graduated from Bethune Cookman College and Columbia University.

She was a member of the Alachua County Alumni of Bethune Cookman College.

Mrs. Norton was a member of the Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cornelius W. Norton.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Janet Jean Pickett

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS - Janet Jean Pickett of Keystone Heights died at her home Thursday. She was 38.

Mrs. Pickett was born at McCoy Air Force Base. She moved to Keystone Heights from Deltona in July.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God in Keystone Heights.

Survivors include her husband, William Randolph Pickett of Keystone Heights; a daughter, Mariya Nichole Leann Pickett of Keystone Heights; a son, William Randolph Pickett II of Keystone Heights; her mother, Jeanna Sampson Ramos of Pine Hills; her father, Daniel Futch of Tampa; a sister, Cynthia Ann Chandler of Ocoee; and two brothers, Regginal Futch of California and Jayson Montgomery of Pine Hills.

Abraham P. Prescott

MAYO - Abraham P. Prescott of Mayo died Wednesday at Lafayette Health Care. He was 83.

Mr. Prescott was born in St. Augustine and moved to Mayo from Key West 24 years ago.

He was a roofer and a member of Brewer Lake Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Alice Prescott.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Janis and Ronnie Land of Mayo; two sisters, Dorothy Nelson and Thelma Amaker, both of St. Augustine; a brother, Woodrow "Bill" Prescott of California; a grandchild and a great-grandchild.

Isabellia Quarterman

Isabellia Quarterman of Gainesville died Wednesday at Shands at AGH following a long illness. She was 88.

Mrs. Quarterman was born in Lake City and moved to Gainesville from Blackshear, Ga., 48 years ago.

She was a child care provider and a member of Springhill Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary E. Crittenden of Rochester, N.Y., and Loretta Hannon and Delores Quarterman-Mosley, both of Gainesville; an adopted daughter, Vanessa Covington-Munnerlyn of Gainesville; 24 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, 22 great-great-grandchildren and a great-great- great-grandchild.

Peter Spann

ARCHER - Peter Spann of Archer died Tuesday. He was 86.

Mr. Spann was born in Archer and lived there all his life. He was a retired custodian and was educated in the schools of Alachua County. He was a member of St. Paul's Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, Willie James Spann, Peter Spann Jr., and Ernest Spann, all of Miami, and Richard Span of Archer; two daughters, Mary Ellen McHenry of Miami and Beatrice Britt of Archer; four sisters, Bernice Jones of Archer, Elizabeth Robinson and Frances Swain, both of Miami, and Daisy King of West Palm Beach; a brother, James Rollins of West Palm Beach; 24 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Delaney Lynn Waters

Delaney Lynn Waters, 16-month-old child of Mark and Rebecca Waters of Bradenton, died April 10 at All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg.

In addition to her parents, Delaney is survived by her grandparents, Quinn and Lanelle Waters of Gainesville; and great-grandparents, Charles and Nina Waters of Gainesville.

Marshall H. Wiggins

Marshall H. Wiggins of Wellborn died Thursday after a short illness. He was 81.

Mr. Wiggins was born in North Carolina and moved to Wellborn from Miami 16 years ago. He was a custodian for the Dade County school system. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, was a member of the Disabled Veterans of America and a member of Suwannee River Assembly of God.

He was preceded in death by his son, Gary Wiggins, and his brother, William A. Wiggins.

Survivors include his wife, LaWana Wiggins of Wellborn; a daughter, Karen Wiggins of Tallahassee; a son, Dale Wiggins Sr. of Dothan, Ala.; a sister, Frances May of Miami; four grandchildren, Dale Wiggins Jr. of Jacksonville; Marsha Wiggins of Miami; Leighann Wiggins of Hagerstown, Md., and Stockton Wiggins of Dothan, Ala.
