Jean E. Rainsberger

Jean E. Rainsberger of Gainesville died Aug. 4 at her summer home in Spruce Pine, N.C. She was 88.

Mrs. Rainsberger was born in Cleveland and moved from Tequesta to Gainesville 15 years ago.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church

Mrs. Rainsberger was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Rainsberger.

Survivors include a son, Richard E. Rainsberger of Gainesville; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to Trinity United Methodist Church in Gainesville.

Maggie Houston

Maggie Houston of Gainesville died Saturday at her home after a long illness. She was 87.

Mrs. Houston was a homemaker.

She was born in Douglas, Ga., and moved from Greenville to Gainesville eight years ago.

Mrs. Houston was a member of Wigginville Baptist Church in Madison County and attended Springhill Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Bertha Alexander of Pinetta, Jimmie Lee Smith of Pensacola and Ida Mae Smith of Gainesville; two sons, Allen Houston of Gainesville and Ernest Houston of Rochester, N.Y.; 41 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Sam Bryant

ARREDONDO - Sam Bryant of Arredondo died unexpectedly Tuesday at his home. He was 92.

Deacon BryantHe was a retired custodian for the University of Florida and for Sears, Roebuck and Co.

He was born in Jasper and moved from New River to Arredondo 54 years ago.

Mr.Deacon Bryant was a member of Pallbearer's Lodge No. 18, Brotherhood Manpower for Christ, Inc., and the Greater New Salem Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a past president of the Baptist Training Union, a devotion leader, treasurer, and a member of the First Division Ministries, Deacons Union, and Helping Aid Convention.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta Dickerson Bryant.

Survivors include a daughter, Lureecq Jackson of Starke; a son, Julius Bryant of Jonesville; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Zosia Regina Foreman

Zosia Regina Foreman of Gainesville died Thursday in Gainesville. She was 83.

Mrs. Foreman was a paralegal.

Born in Toronto, she moved 14 years ago from Dunnville, Canada to Gainesville.

She belonged to the Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Tosia G. Foreman of Gainesville.

John William Neebling

John William Neebling of High Springs died Friday at the Hospice House of Gainesville after a long illness. He was 55.

Mr. Neebling was a staff Sgt. in the U.S. Air Force.

Born in Provo, Utah, he moved from Atwater, Calif. to High Springs 28 years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Comfort Neebling of High Springs; three sons, Don Neebling of High Springs, Ramon Neebling of Gainesville and John Owen Neebling of Provo; a brother, James Neebling of Sandy, Utah ; three sisters, Naomi White of Salem, Utah, Joanne Astel of Orem, Utah and Delores Lewis of Sandy; and four grandchildren.

James Harrison Brindle

LIVE OAK -- James Harrison Brindle of Live Oak died Wednesday in Shands at Lake Shore in Lake City.

He was 75.

He was a carpenter for local union No. 819 in West Palm Beach. He was also a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II.

Mr. Brindle was born in Winston Salem, N.C., and moved to Live Oak in 1994 from West Palm Beach.

He was a Methodist.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Perdue Brindle of Live Oak; a son, Dana Brindle of Live Oak; two grandchildren and and three great-grandchildren.

Rufus Edwards

LAKE BUTLER -- Rufus Edwards of Lake Butler died Friday at Shands from injuries received in an auto accident.

He was 55.

He was a farmer.

Mr. Edwards lived in Lake Butler his entire life.

He was survived by his mother, Lila M. Edwards of Lake Butler; two sisters, Lougenia Edmondson of Leesburg and Eliza Edwards of Lake Butler; a son, Steven Edwards of Leesburg; and one grandson.

Mittie R. Goswick

Mittie R. Goswick of Gainesville died Thursday at Perry Health Facility in Perry.

She was 86.

She was a homemaker.

Born in Denton, Ga., she moved to Gainesville from Cross City in 1920.

She was a member of the Carol Estates Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Lonnie Bozeman and Samuel Goswick.

Survivors include six sisters, Martha Yarbrough of Brooksville, Lois Proctor of Jacksonville, Marguerite Morgan and Bobbie Ann O'Quinn, both of Perry, Billie Jo Odom of Cross Roads, Tenn., and Mary Kate Mitchell of Steinhatchee; and two grandchildren.

James Keith Horne

James Keith Horne of Gainesville died Thursday at Dahlia Hospital at Tacachale.

He was 46.

He was a resident of Pinewood Cottage at Tacachale.

He was a Baptist.

Survivors include by his mother, Maxine B. Horne of Jacksonville; his father, Homa Judson Horne Jr., of Jacksonville; and three sisters, Yvonne Bradford of Decatur, Ga., Nancy Cowart of Jacksonville and Connie Aplin of Lakeland.

Mary Lee Price

HIGH SPRINGS -- Mary Lee Price of High Springs died suddenly on Tuesday at North Florida Medical Center.

She was 69.

She was a homemaker and lived in High Springs her entire life, and she was a member of the Church of God by Faith.

She was preceded in death by a son, Edward Morrison.

Survivors include nine sisters, Sandra Price of Lake City, Blondie Hickmon, Vivian Freeney, Queen Ester Price, Vandella Durr and Zetha Mae Washington, all of High Springs, Charlotte Gavin of Tallahassee, Lucy Mae Mitchell of Seffner and Betty Williams of Gainesville; two brothers, Cedric E. Price of High Springs and Ronnie W. Price of Tampa; and two grandchildren.

Aretha Sams

WILLISTON - Aretha Sams of Williston died in Fort Pierce on Monday after a long illness. She was 86.

She was a homemaker.

She moved to Fort Pierce three years ago.

She is a member of the House Hold of Ruth.

She attended Shiloh Baptist Church in Archer.

She was survived by a daughter, Isabella Fuller of Fort Pierce; three sons, Elder Philip Sams of Gainesville, Arthur Sams of Archer and the Rev. W.R. Jones of Fort Pierce; 14 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
