Clifford Jackson IV

Clifford Jackson IV died Saturday at Shands at the University of Florida. He was 1 day old.

He was born in Gainesville.

Survivors include his mother, Wanda Olivia Flanders Jackson of Chiefland; his father, Clifford Jackson Jr. of Chiefland; three sisters, Princess Flanders, Janesa Jackson and Brianna Jackson, all of Chiefland; a brother, Quinten Flanders of Chiefland; and his grandparents, Jimmy Flanders and Alma Bowers Flanders, both of Chiefland, and Sallie Campbell and Nathaniel Campbell, both of Cross City.

Richard Steelman Riggins

Richard Steelman Riggins of Gainesville died Thursday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was 61.

Mr. Riggins was retired from Nations Bank and had served as a vice president and manager of business development, director of new bank construction, vice president of the student loan department for Southeast Florida, vice president for branch administration as the business development office for Southeast Florida and vice president of marketing.

He began his career at First National Bank in Fort Lauderdale and Plantation First National Bank. He had served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Finance Corps.

Born in Kane, Pa., he moved from Pompano Beach to Gainesville two years ago. He received certification from the American Institute of Banking and was a 1971 graduate of the Florida School of Banking at the University of Florida.

He was the charter director and treasurer for Key Club International Every Child a Swimmer Foundation, was a past administrator of the Florida District of Key Club International, was past president of the Broward Chapter of the American Institute of Banking, secretary and director of the Gold Coast Chapter for the Bank Administration Institute, was education director of banking at the Broward Community College and was a member of the Bank Education Advisory Committee at Broward Community College.

He received the Key Club International Key of Honor in 1990 and the U.S. Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service in 1963.

Survivors include two sisters, Marjorie R. Turney of Belle Vernon, Pa., and Patricia Anne Brown of Fort Lauderdale; four nieces; and three nephews.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to Kiwanis Key Club Program Every Child a Swimmer Inc., c/o James Martin in Fort Lauderdale, or to Friends of the Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic Site Farm.

Jess Willard Roberts Sr.

NEWBERRY -- Jess Willard Roberts Sr. of Newberry died unexpectedly Monday at his home. He was 84.

Mr. Roberts was a retired truck driver for Maddox Foundry in Archer.

Born in Romeo, he lived most of his life in Newberry.

He was a member of Archer First Baptist Church.

Survivors include six sons, Wayne Roberts, Jess W. Roberts Jr., Larry Roberts Sr. and Ronald Roberts, all of Williston, Thomas A. Roberts of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Glenn E. Roberts of High Springs; three daughters, Barbara A. Dudley and Teresa R. Roberts, both of Newberry, and Pamela R. Asbell of Archer; a sister, Dorothy Brooks of Montbrook; 22 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Harold William Ruffaner

Expressions of sympathy for the family of Harold William Ruffaner of Gainesville, who died Thursday, may be made as donations to the Special Needs Families Fund at the St. Augustine Catholic Student Center, c/o Father Tim Lozier, in Gainesville.

Irma Weaver Walkup

McINTOSH -- Irma Weaver Walkup of McIntosh died Monday at her home.

She was 66.

Mrs. Walkup was a homemaker.

Born in Ariskany Falls, N.Y., she moved to Marion County 58 years ago.

She was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church and the Seedlings Garden Club, both in McIntosh.

Survivors include her husband, Howard K. Walkup of McIntosh; two daughters, Suzanne Maloney of Palmetto and Carol Walkup of Los Angeles; a son, Dr. Daniel Walkup of Irvine; a brother, Jimmy Weaver of Ocala; and four grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to Hospice of Marion County or to the American Cancer Society.

Emma Margaret Godwin

Emma Margaret Godwin of Alachua died Saturday at Shands at Alachua General Hospital. She was 90.

Mrs. Godwin was born in Darlington, S.C., and moved to Alachua from Gainesville 29 years ago. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Nelson of Trenton, one grandson and two great-grandchildren.

Sarah S. Parrish

FORT WHITE -- Sarah S. Parrish of Fort White died at her home Saturday. She was 73.

Mrs. Parrish was born in Gilchrist County and moved to Fort White 20 years ago. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Grove Advent Christian Church in Branford.

Survivors include one son, John Parrish of Fort White; three daughters, Ordinette Thomas of High Springs, Linda Haitt of Fort White and Ann Tidwell of Branford; two sisters, Maggie Bass of Fort White and Margaret Petty of Branford; three brothers, Dennis Douglas, R.J. Douglas and Orion Douglas, all of Fort White; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Robert Clay Gillen

LULU -- Robert Clay Gillen died Thursday at his Lulu residence in following an extended illness. He was 62.

Mr. Gillen was a lab supervisor for Occidental Chemical Co. and the owner and operator of Lulu General Store in Columbia County. He also served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of the Lulu Advent Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Gillen of Lulu; four daughters, Paulette Hampton of Lake Butler, Sherri Lavery of Gainesville, Sue McClain of Elkton, Ky., and Brenda Blanton of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a son, Robert G. Gillen III of Lake City; a stepdaughter, Ronda Smith of Dublin, Ohio; two stepsons, Ronnie Wisenbaker of Lake Park, Ga., and Ira Wisenbaker of Valdosta, Ga.; a sister, Elaine Paulk of Ocilla, Ga.; a brother, Scotty Gillen of Lulu; nine grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.

Dennis Michael Derossett

OLD TOWN -- Dennis Michael Derossett died Wednesday at his home in Old Town. He was 51.

Mr. Derossett was born in Martin, Ky., and moved to Old Town from Peachtree, Ga., nine years ago.

He was a construction worker and he served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include a daughter, Denise Derossett of La Fayette, Ga.; a son, James David Derossett of La Fayette; his mother, Jackie Wolverton of Old Town; three sisters, Janet Hall of Drift, Ky., and Judi Derossett and Rene Thornsberry, both of Allen, Ky.; and two brothers, Doug Derossett of Martin and Edward Derossett of Allen, Ky.

Sylvia Mae Ake

STARKE -- Sylvia Mae Ake of Starke died Friday at Shands Jacksonville Hospice. She was 55.

Mrs. Ake was born in Houston and moved to Starke from Jacksonville 20 years ago.

She was a homemaker.

She attended Heilbronn Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Lee Ake of Starke; a daughter, Debra Ake Wilbanks of West Columbia, Texas; a son, Robert Leeroy Ake of Keystone Heights; two sisters, Iona Brown McCormick of Jacksonville, N.C., and Glenda Ray Brown Taylor of Brazoria, Texas; and five grandchildren.

Nell B. Dubose

HIGH SPRINGS -- Nell B. Dubose died Thursday at her home in High Springs. She was 90.

Mrs. Dubose was born in Adel, Ga., and moved to High Springs from Fort White in 1972.

She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church of High Springs.

Survivors include four daughters, Ann Sparkman and Betty Miller, both of Fort White, Margie Nell Sigman of Bambridge, Ga., and Joyce Holmes of Kansas City, Mo.; a son, Wayne Dubose of Fairview Heights, Ill.; 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Thomas Adam Dunn

HAWTHORNE -- Thomas Adam Dunn died Wednesday at his home in Hawthorne. He was 56.

Mr. Dunn was born in Cincinnati and moved to Hawthorne from Fort Lauderdale in 1965.

He was a school teacher in the Bradford County school system.

He was a member of the University of Florida Chapter of Beta Theta Pi.

Survivors include his fiancee, Pam Morgan of Hawthorne; his fiancee's daughter, Chrissy Morgan of Hawthorne; his mother, Kathryn O. Dunn of Hawthorne; a sister, Melissa Dunn of Hawthorne; and a brother, T.O. Dunn of Gainesville.

Inez Margaret Sutton Richardson

Inez Margaret Sutton Richardson, a longtime resident of Bargersville, Ind., died Monday at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin, Ind. She was 90.

Mrs. Richardson was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Murl Richardson.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Dabney of Keystone Heights; a son, John W. Richardson of Bargersville, Ind.; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
