Deborah Shawanda Stroud

Deborah Shawanda "Wanda" Stroud of Gainesville died Monday in DeLand.

She was 25.

Miss Stroud was a manager at Majestic Oaks Apartments.

She was a lifelong resident of Gainesville. She was a 1991 graduate of Santa Fe High School.

Miss Stroud was a member of Compassionate Outreach Ministry, where she was a member of the choir and the women's ensemble.

Survivors include her mother, Louise Stroud of Gainesville; her father, William Stroud of Jacksonville; two brothers, William Stroud Jr. of Gainesville and Cary C. Stroud of Jacksonville; four sisters, Linda Campbell and Tammie Gwen Stroud, both of Jacksonville, Danette "Kim" Stroud-Hampton and Barbara Stroud-Perry, both of Gainesville; and her maternal grandparents, James and Emma Tolbert of Alachua.

J.C. Thomas

WILLISTON -- J.C. Thomas of Williston died July 15 at his home. He was 66.

Mr. Thomas was a laborer.

He was a lifelong resident of Williston and was educated in Levy County public schools.

Survivors include three sisters, Isolene Cox and Idester Graham, both of Williston, and Glover Mae of Miami; and a brother, Sammy Miller of Archer.

Viola Edwards Williams

Viola Edwards "Toast" Williams of Gainesville died July 14 at North Florida Regional Medical Center after a long illness.

She was 84.

Mrs. Williams was a home- maker.

She was a lifelong resident of Gainesville.

Mrs. Williams was a member of Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church and of the Home Mission Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie L. Williams; and a son, Eddie Richardson.

Survivors include three sons, Willie Richardson and George Wallace, both of Gainesville, and Ulysses Richardson of Washington, D.C.; two daughters, Eula Mae Coward and Jeraline Terry, both of Gainesville; a stepdaughter, Marion Lewis of Fort Meade; a brother, Alphonso Williams of Tampa; 41 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and five great- great-grandchildren.

Dolores Jean Badgers

BELL -- Dolores Jean Badgers of Bell died Saturday in her daughter's home. She was 69.

Mrs. Badgers was born in Benton Harbor, Mich., and moved to Bell from Hudson 17 years ago. She was a certified nursing assistant at the Ayers Rehabilitation Center and a member of the Tri-County Senior Citizens Association. She attended the Church of God and enjoyed crafts.

Survivors include four daughters, Rhonda Whitwood of Bell, Judy Russell of Sneedville, Tenn., Janet Legg of Victor, W.Va., and Dianna Alexander of Ravenna, Mich.; a son, Danny DePriest of Sneedville; two sisters, Joyce Wade of Stevenville, Mich., and Rosell Irwin of Benton Harbor; and 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Ernestine Louise Barton

WILLISTON -- Ernestine Louise Barton of Williston died Sunday in her home. She was 88.

Mrs. Barton was born in Montbrook and was a lifelong resident of Williston. She was a licensed practical nurse, a member of the Piecemakers Quilt Club of Williston and attended First Baptist Church of Williston.

Survivors include a son, John L. Whilden of Williston; a daughter, Mary Alice Mercer of Williston; four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy made as donations to the Piecemakers Quilt Club in memory of Mrs. Barton.

Thero Jones Goolsby

JASPER -- Thero Jones Goolsby of Jasper died Sunday at Shands at the University of Florida. She was 85.

Mrs. Goolsby was born in Statenville, Ga., and lived most of her life in Jasper. She was a member of the Jasper Advent Christian Church.

Mrs. Goolsby was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, O'Neal Goolsby.

Survivors include a son, Robert O. Goolsby of Gainesville; three daughters, Dorothy Aycock Bond of Norcross, Ga., Connie Beasley of Smyrna, Ga., and Libby Walk of Jasper; a brother, Buster Jones of Port Richey; and nine grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

Annie Maude Crews Muir

LAKE BUTLER -- Annie Maude Crews Muir of Lake Butler died Saturday in the Avalon Health Care Center in Lake City after a brief illness. She was 79.

Mrs. Muir was born in Macclenny and lived most of her life in Lake Butler, returning there in 1988 from Tampa. She was a nurse with the state Department of Corrections and was a member of Johnstown Baptist Church in Lake Butler.

Mrs. Muir was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Crews.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary F. Mack of Lake Butler; a brother, Bob Green of Inverness; two sisters, Jessie Geiger of Hampton and Pauline Harris of Sampson City; and four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Mary Louise "Mae" Owens

CROSS CITY -- Mary Louise "Mae" Owens of Cross City died Saturday at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. She was 72.

Mrs. Owens was born in Cedar Key and moved to Cross City from Jacksonville 22 years ago. She was a homemaker and attended Church of Jesus Christ-Holiness Church.

Survivors include three sons, Thomas Lee of Winter Garden, George Owens Jr. of Jacksonville and Terry Owens of Newberry; four daughters, Melissa Gainey and Angela Darlene Watson, both of Old Town, Edna Smith of Murphy, N.C., and Betty Jean Newberg of Orlando; and 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Grace M. Pelley

HAWTHORNE -- Grace M. Pelley of Hawthorne died Saturday at the Putnam Community Medical Center in Palatka. She was 84.

Mrs. Pelley was born in Blue Hill, Maine, and moved to Hawthorne in 1975 from Miami. She was a homemaker and was active for many years in the Meals on Wheels service through Hawthorne United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Pelley was preceded in death by her husband, Burnham Pelley, and a son, Burnham Pelley Jr.

Survivors include a daughter, Martina Pelley of Hawthorne; a grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to the American Cancer Society.

Dolly Gill Suggs

LAKE BUTLER -- Dolly Gill Suggs of Lake Butler died Saturday in her home under the care of Hospice of North Central Florida after a brief illness. She was 69.

Mrs. Suggs was born in Lake City and moved to Lake Butler from Gainesville five years ago. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Survivors include a daughter, JoAnn Besserman of Lake Butler; four sons, Terry Suggs of Lake Butler, Roger Suggs of Green Cove Springs and Kelly Suggs and Hugh Edward Suggs, both of Gainesville; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Cora B. Bean

WALDO -- Cora B. Bean died Tuesday at her residence in Waldo. She was 95.

Mrs. Bean was born in Barrington, N.H., and moved to Waldo in 1969. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Keystone Heights.

She was preceded in death by a son, Harold N. Bean.

Survivors include two daughters, Doris Wentworth of Sanford, Maine, and Helen M. Baun of Waldo; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Teareather LaFleur

STARKE -- Teareather LaFleur of Starke died Saturday at the Bradford Dialysis Center following an extended illness. She was 93.

Mrs. LaFleur was born in Salisbury, N.C., and moved to Starke 25 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church, where she served on the Mother's Board.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, the Rev. Handy Williams and her second husband, Thomas LaFluer.

Survivors include three daughters, Queen Esther Albert and Margaret DeSue, both of Starke, and Dorothy M. Borrough of Casper, Wy.; a stepdaughter, Annie M. Thomas of Baldwin; a brother, Winslow "Buster" Shipp of Salisbury, N.C.; 11 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 33 great-great-grandchildren and a great- great-great-grandchild.

Richard O'Steen

OLD TOWN -- Richard "Buddy" O'Steen died Monday at his residence in Old Town. He was 73.

Mr. O'Steen was a lifelong resident of Old Town. He was a highway worker for the Dixie County Highway Department and he served in the U.S. Navy.

He was a member of the Joppa Masonic Lodge No. 4 and the Suwannee River Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Martha O'Steen of Old Town; three daughters, Vickie Matthews of Old Town, and Debbie Cooper and Jodi Akins, both of Cross City; four sons, Mose Baldree of Jay, Terry Baldree and James Long, both of Old Town, and Robert Baldree of Melrose; a sister, Geneva Kirkpatrick of Baldwin, W.Va.; a brother, Lee A. O'Steen of Windsor, N.C.; and 14 grandchildren.
