KEYSTONE HEIGHTS -- Donald Eugene Meck of Keystone Heights died Friday at Shands at Starke. He was 70.
Mr. Meck was a retired crop-duster.
Born in Moberly, Mo., he moved from Laferia, Texas, to Keystone Heights three years ago.
He was a member of the Elks Club in Fort Meyers.
Survivors include his wife, Francescq Strickland Meck of Keystone Heights; a daughter, Patty Sanders of Fort Myers; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Jean Harlan Teas
Jean Harlan Teas of Gainesville died Friday at her home due to complications from a head injury. She was 72.
Mrs. Teas was a retired school librarian in Alachua County.
Born in New Iberia, La., she moved to Gainesville 32 years ago.
She was a member of Friends of the Library, Gainesville Civic Chorus, the Jacksonville Symphony Chorus and the Free Speech Forum.
Mrs. Teas was active in the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.
She enjoyed music, reading, theater and socializing.
Survivors include three children, Eliza C. Teas-Trudeau of Virginia, Robin C. Teas of Capon Bridge, W.Va., and Malcolm H. Teas of Austin, Texas; her ex-husband, Don Teas; and one grandchild.
Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to Friends of the Library or to Hospice of North Central Florida.
Dwight R. Arnold Sr.
Dwight R. Arnold Sr. of Tallahassee died Sunday.
He was 88.
Mr. Arnold was a longtime resident of Keystone Heights.
He was a retired engineer with the U.S. Civil Services, and was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the Keystone Heights Country Club, the Rotary Club and the Keystone Heights United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Dwight R. Arnold Jr. of Tallahassee; two sisters, Nina Null of York, Pa., and Jo Brown of Windsor, Pa.; two brothers, Rex Arnold of Milton and Palmer Arnold of York, Pa.; and a granddaughter, Ann-Marie Arnold of Tallahassee.
Col. Cornell Dent and Joanne Darby Booth
Col. Cornell Dent and Joanne Darby Booth of Tallahassee died together Saturday, three days before their 64th wedding anniversary.
Mr. Booth was 86 and Mrs. Booth was 85.
Local survivors include a daughter, Helen Cornell Booth of Gainesville.
Jess Alderman Coleman
DUNNELLON - Jess Alderman Coleman of Dunnellon died Saturday at Citrus Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
He was 63.
Mr. Coleman was born in Gainesville and moved to Dunnellon from St. Petersburg 20 years ago.
He was a graduate of Northeast High School, where he designed the school's first Viking emblem. He received a football scholarship to the University of Florida and he was an avid Gator fan.
He was an assistant produce manager with Publix of Crystal River and a former restaurant owner.
Survivors include his mother, Mildred C. Coleman of Dunnellon; and two sisters, Peggy Slade of Dunnellon and Sharon Jones of Reddington Shores.
Gladys Margaret Massinger
Gladys Margaret Massinger of Gainesville died Sunday.
She was 75.
She was born in Philadelphia and moved to Gainesville from Pennsauken, N.J., in 1979.
Her career was in retail sales and she enjoyed sewing and shopping.
She was Protestant.
Her husband, Lawrence Adam Massinger, died Friday.
Survivors include a brother, William John Taylor of Gilbertsville, Pa.; three sisters, Joy Marie McFarland of Altamonte Springs, Ruth May Muller of Williamsburg, Va., and Barbara Jane Barefield of Gainesville; and many nieces and nephews.
Lawrence Adam Massinger
Lawrence Adam Massinger of Gainesville died Friday at his residence.
He was 79.
Mr. Massinger was born in Saskatchewan, Canada, and moved to Gainesville from Pennsauken, N.J., in 1979.
He was a retired truck driver and served for the U.S. Army in World War II.
He was a member of Teamsters Local 107 in Philadelphia. He was Catholic.
His wife, Gladys "Peggy" Massinger, died Sunday.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law; and a brother-in-law.
Norma Jean Flowers
CHIEFLAND - Norma Jean Flowers of Chiefland died Oct. 2 at North Florida Regional Medical Center.
She was 59.
Mrs. Flowers was born in West Palm Beach and moved to Chiefland from Hollywood 15 years ago.
An avid golfer, she was a member of the Women's Golf Association and the Chiefland Country Club.
She was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Chiefland.
She graduated from South Broward High School, and was active in sports.
Survivors include her husband, Tom Flowers of Chiefland; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mike and Sherry Michaelis of Chiefland, and Mark Michaelis of Orlando; a brother, Don Edwards Picton of Hollywood; and a granddaughter, Brittni Nikol Michaelis.
Lorita Gordon Truluck
FORT WHITE - Lorita Gordon Truluck of Fort White died at her home Sunday.
She was 65.
Mrs. Truluck was born in Union County and had lived in Fort White since 1977.
She was an administrative secretary at Santa Fe Community College and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Fort White.
Survivors include three daughters, Paula Schremser of Columbus, Lori White of Ormond Beach and Hazel Truluck of Fort White; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Phillis Breen of Fort White; two sisters, Barbara Perkey of Fort Lauderdale and Joan Graham of Jacksonville; five brothers, Hal Gordon of Palatka, Wallace Gordon of Chester, Pa., Gene Gordon of Lake Butler, Michael Gordon of Raiford and Norris Gordon of St. James; her former husband, Thomas Breen of Ormond Beach; and five grandchildren.
Margaret Marilyn Barrow
Margaret Marilyn Barrow of Gainesville died Friday in her home. She was 77.
Mrs. Barrow was born in Gulfport, Miss., and moved to Gainesville from Lehigh Acres a few months ago. She was a retired civil service worker and a member of First Baptist Church of Lehigh Acres.
Survivors include three daughters, Glenda Slough of Richardson, Texas, Wanda Roberts of Redfield, Ark., and Betty Fisher of Garmisch, Germany; one son, Vernon Barrow of Fort Sill, Okla.; two brothers, Roy Stone of Ocean Springs, Miss., and Lawrence Stone of Hattiesburg, Miss; granddaughter Shauna Daniels and eight other grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Jose "Tony" Cuesta
TRENTON -- Jose "Tony" Cuesta Sr. of Trenton died Saturday in his home. He was 70.
Mr. Cuesta was born in Tampa and moved to Trenton 20 years ago from Tampa. He was a retired firefighter, a member of the William T. Carlton Masonic Lodge and the Suwannee River Shrine Club. He was a Catholic.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Cuesta of Trenton; one daughter, Griselda Patrinostro of Tampa; two sons, Pedro John Cuesta of Tampa and Jose Anthony Cuesta Jr. of Jacksonville; and one sister, Griselda Castro of California.
