Scott Quinn Bass

BRANFORD -- Scott Quinn Bass of Branford died Sunday in Quitman, Ga., after being struck by lightning. He was 29.

Mr. Bass was born in Gainesville and moved to Branford from High Springs 11 years ago.

He was a farmer and a Baptist.

He attended Bell High School.

Survivors include his wife, Ginny Bass of Branford; three daughters, Brittany Bass, Kirsten Bass and Taylor Bass, all of Branford; a son, Tristan Bass of Branford; his parents, Joe and Ella Bass of High Springs; two sisters, Traci Levin and Staci Alford, both of Orlando; two brothers, Mark Bass and Steven Bass, both of Orlando; and his maternal grandparents, Patricia and Eugene Lydick of High Springs.

Betty Griffis Cannady

MACCLENNY -- Betty Griffis Cannady died Monday at her residence in Macclenny following a brief illness. She was 55.

Mrs. Cannady was born in Raiford and moved to Macclenny 37 years ago.

She was a retired rehabilitation therapist at North East Florida State Hospital in Macclenny.

Survivors include her husband, Preston Cannady of Macclenny; two daughters, Michelle Crews of Glen St. Mary and Cherelle Cannady of Macclenny; four sisters, Geneva Whitehead of Lake Butler, Alta Mae Venhaus of Jacksonville, Jeanette Green of Citra and Dixie Lyon of Macclenny; two brothers, Doyle Griffis of Gainesville and Bobby Griffis of Lake Butler; and two grandchildren.

Maude Mabel Carroll

HAWTHORNE -- Maude Mabel Carroll died Monday at her residence in Hawthorne. She was 93.

Mrs. Carroll was born in Detroit, Texas, and moved to Hawthorne from Miami 12 years ago.

She was a seamstress and a member of the Calvary Church of the Nazarene in Miami.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Carroll; and a daughter, Mabel Ellen Sukeforth.

Survivors include three sisters, Dorothy Padgett of Hawthorne, Claire Cates of Titusville and Margie Ragas of Covington, La.

Ann Hodges Daneman

Ann Hodges Daneman of Gainesville died Monday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. She was 56.

Mrs. Daneman was born in Lake City and moved to Gainesville 30 years ago.

She was a Realtor, a broker and a property manager.

She received a bachelor's degree from the University of Florida.

Mrs. Daneman was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lake City.

Survivors include two stepdaughters, Mary Daneman of Flowery Branch, Ga., and Susan Daneman Richardson of Watkinsville, Ga.; her stepmother, Connie Miller Hodges of Lake City; her stepfather, Pierre B. Watkins of Gainesville; and a brother, James Branch Hodges III of Lake City.

Mark Winston Dial

LAKE CITY -- Mark Winston Dial of Lake City died Sunday at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lake City. He was 44.

Mr. Dial was born in Fort Myers and moved to Lake City four years ago.

He served in the U.S. Navy. He was a disabled American veteran and he volunteered at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lake City.

He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, Ardwin and Vera Dial of Old Town; four sisters, Carolyn Eugena Dial, Pauline Dial, Alice Kay Dial and Alice LaPorta; and a brother, Dan Carter.

John Clinton Doctor

John Clinton Doctor of Gainesville died Sunday at Shands at the University of Florida. He was 70.

Mr. Doctor was born in Ocala and moved to Gainesville 2 years ago.

He was a porter in the railroad industry.

He graduated from Howard Academy and later attended Florida A & M University.

Mr. Doctor served as a steward at the St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Ocala.

Survivors include four daughters, Rita Williams, Sheila Johnson, Louise Lesesne and Beverly Thomas, all of Gainesville; three sons, Alfonso Lesesne Jr. of Spanaway, Wash., Zernard Lesesne of Ocala and Terry Edwards of Gainesville; three brothers, James L. Hill of Opa-Locka, David James of Ocala and Herbert McDaniels of Jackson, Mich.; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Rosalie Woodall Hine

Rosalie Woodall Hine of Lusby, Md., died March 19 at Calvert Memorial Hospital in Prince Frederick, Md., following complications related to ovarian cancer. She was 71.

Mrs. Hine was born in Butler, N.J., and moved to Maryland from Kissimmee in 1990.

She held a bachelor's and a master's degree in mathematics and statistics from Florida State University, and worked in the area of data analysis until her retirement in 1990.

She volunteered with the Patuxent Sail and Power Squadron, the Calvert County NARFE Chapter and the Friends of the Library.

She was a Methodist.

Survivors include her husband, M. Kiplinger Hine Jr. of Lusby and a sister, Betty Taylor of Gainesville.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to the American Cancer Society.

Edward Seonsong Hwang

Edward Seonsong Hwang of Gainesville died Monday at Shands at the University of Florida. He was 64.

Mr. Hwang was born in Korea and moved to Gainesville in 1981.

He was a grocery store owner and a member of the Korean Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Kwang Ja Hwang of Gainesville; a daughter, Tammie Hwang of Gainesville; two sons, Soon Ho Hwang of Silver Spring, Md., and Sung Hyun Hwang of Gainesville; and a grandchild.

Brandon Lee Foshee

OLD TOWN -- Brandon Lee Foshee, the newborn child of David and Samantha Foshee of Old Town, died at home Thursday. He was 10 days old.

Brandon was born in Gainesville on March 13.

In addition to his parents, Brandon is survived by a brother, James David Foshee II of Old Town; a sister, Celinda Foshee of Old Town; his maternal grandmother, Linda Teague of Fanning Springs; his paternal grandparents, Roy and Terry Foshee of Fanning Springs; and his paternal great-grand- parents, Earl Striewski and Sheila Williams of Old Town.

Claire Willets Erwin

HIGH SPRINGS -- Claire Willets Erwin of High Springs died Monday at Shands at AGH. She was 80.

Mrs. Erwin was born in Vidalia, Ga., and moved to High Springs from there in 1941.

She was a teacher at High Springs Elementary in the 1940s and 1950s and later became an assistant with special programs at the school.

Mrs. Erwin was a member of the AARP, Friends of the Library and the First Presbyterian Church in High Springs.

Mrs. Erwin was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Erwin, and her son, Bill Erwin.

Survivors include a daughter, Ellen Erwin Galloway of Stone Mountain, Ga.; and four grandchildren.

Brad Duane Luttrell

HIGH SPRINGS -- Brad Duane Luttrell, a lifelong resident of High Springs, died Sunday in Quitman, Ga., after being hit by lightening. He was 28.

Mr. Luttrell was a farmer and a Methodist.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Bissett Luttrell of High Springs; a daughter, Morgan Laine Luttrell of High Springs; his father, Lester Luttrell of Orlando; two sisters, Lisa Vonesh of Archer and Dawn Benedict of Orlando; a brother, Troy Luttrell of Jacksonville; and his grandmother, Lois Luttrell of Harlan, Ind.
