Era Hood Charnley

Era Hood Charnley of Gainesville died Friday at Shands at AGH. She was 87.

Mrs. Charnley was a homemaker and a member of Northwest Baptist Church.

Born in Phenix City, Ala., she moved from Key Largo to Gainesville 10 years ago.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence L. Charnley. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, J.W. "Jim" and Kathleen Charnley of Micanopy; three grandchildren, DeWayne Dunn, Kim Dunn and Shannon Charnley; and two great-grandchildren, Kenny Dunn and Katie Dunn.

Nadime S. Copti

Nadime S. Copti of Gainesville died Friday at Shands at UF.

She was 77.

Mrs. Copti was a homemaker and a member of Holy Faith Catholic Church.

Born in Haifa, Israel, she moved from Lebanon to Gainesville 15 years ago.

Survivors include her husband, Said Copti of Gainesville, three sons, Elias Copti and Joseph Copti, both of Gainesville, and Fouad Copti of Orlando; two daughters, Nihad Copti Abedrabbo of Jordan, Middle East, and Venus Kopti of London, England; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Donald Starling

HAWTHORNE - Donald Starling of Hawthorne died Friday at Shands at AGH after a brief illness.

He was 75.

Mr. Starling was a handyman.

Born in Alachua, he lived most of his life there before moving to Hawthorne several years ago.

He was a member of Eden Baptist Church in Hawthorne.

Survivors include his caregivers, Jimmie and Ruth Ann Hall of Hawthorne.

Robert Paul Aszmus

HAGUE -- Robert Paul Aszmus of Hague died Tuesday in Gainesville following a sudden illness. He was 51.

Mr. Aszmus was born in Yonkers, N.Y., and moved to Hague from West Chester County, N.Y., in 1980.

He was an electronics technician with the state of Florida and a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church.

He worked on the Lutheran Habitat for Humanity.

Mr. Aszmus was an avid sports car collector. He also loved to scuba dive.

Survivors include his wife, Doreen Aszmus of Gainesville; a daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Neil Rudnitski of Moundsview, Minn.; his mother, Evelyn Aszmus of Thornwood, N.Y., three grandchildren, Jennine, Kyle and Collin; and three nieces and nephews.

Tina Marie Benenhaley Grice

ARCHER -- Tina Marie Benenhaley Grice of Archer died Wednesday in Archer. She was 43.

Mrs. Grice was born in Miami and moved to Archer in 1976.

She was a mortgage loan closer.

Survivors include her husband, Norwood "Woody" Grice of Archer; her mother, Janelle Benenhaley of Archer; a stepson, Colin S. Grice of Denver; a sister, Linda Steinhoff of West Palm Beach; and a niece, Elana Ospina.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donationsexpressions to the Hospice of North Central Florida.

Jeffrey Michael Haas

Jeffrey Michael Haas died Saturday at his residence in Gainesville. He was 49.

A native of West Orange, N.J., Mr. Haas moved to Gainesville in 1978.

After completing his undergraduate degree, he went on to attain his M.B.A. from the University of Florida.

He lived and worked in Gainesville for the past 22 years.

He was a lifelong Gator fan.

Survivors include a sister, Deborah Juniper of Gainesville; and two brothers, Patrick Haas of Key West and Jonathan Haas of San Diego.

Mildred Frances Lawrence

Mildred Frances Lawrence of Gainesville died Wednesday in Gainesville. She was 82.

Mrs. Lawrence was born in Adel, Ga., and moved to Gainesville from Jacksonville in 1953.

She was an inspector with an electronics company and a member of Orange Heights Baptist Church.

Survivors include six daughters, Frankie Joiner of Jacksonville, Sue Yarbrough of Deltona, Vivian Taylor of DeLand, Linda Bell of Baldwin, Wanda Lawrence of Gainesville and Maxine Manlove-Heller of Los Angeles; three sons, Sonny Bennett of Lenoir City, Tenn., Dana Bennett of Hollywood and Harry Lawrence Jr. of Venice; two sisters, Gladys Braddock of Green Cove Springs and Betty Vickers of Hahira, Ga.; 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

John M. Madigan

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS -- John M. Madigan of Keystone Heights died Wednesday at Vencore Hospital in Green Cove Springs following an extended illness. He was 92.

A Connecticut native, Mr. Madigan moved to Keystone Heights in 1973.

He was a retired process inspector with Jacobs Manufacturing Co.

He was a member of St. William Catholic Church and the Local No. 8 United Automobile Workers.

Survivors include his wife, Anna M. Madigan of Keystone Heights; two daughters, Jean Flynn and Jacqueline Flynn, both of Rocky Hill, Conn.; a son, Gerald J. Madigan of Newington, Conn.; and seven grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to the American Cancer Society.

Chris A. Wilson

LIVE OAK -- Chris A. Wilson of Live Oak died Wednesday following a brief illness. He was 35.

Mr. Wilson was born in Connersville, Ind., and moved to Live Oak from Fort Lauderdale 15 year ago.

He attended Suwannee River Community Church in Live Oak.

Survivors include his wife, Misty Wilson of Live Oak; his mother, Connie Truman of Fort Lauderdale; a brother, Rob Wilson of Fort Lauderdale; an aunt, Karen Hutchinson of Branford; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Larry and JoAnne Milton of Live Oak.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to the music fund of the Suwannee River Community Church.

Sing Su

Sing Su of Gainesville died Monday at the Hospice House of Gainesville. He was 81.

A native of Taiwan, he moved to Gainesville in 1977.

He was a teacher and a bank manager.

He was a member of the Gainesville Chinese Christian Church and a former deacon of the Amoy Baptist Church in Taiwan.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Shu-Hwei T. Su of Gainesville; a daughter, Emily B.B. Teng of California; four sons, Stephen Y.H. Su of New York, Stanley Y.W. Su of Gainesville, Ernie E.Y. Cai of Endicott, N.Y., and Samuel Y.L. Su of Alpine, N.J.; a brother, Wen-Sen Su of Taiwan; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to the Gainesville Chinese Christian Church.

Marius Edmund Zwiller

OLD TOWN -- Marius Edmund Zwiller of Old Town died Tuesday at Shands at the University of Florida. He was 95.

Mr. Zwiller was born in Colmar, France, and moved to Old Town from Kingston, N.Y., five years ago.

He was a retired chiropractor.

Survivors include a daughter, Birgit Spannow of Hasley, Denmark; a brother, Sven Zwiller of Marlenheim, France; a niece, Mary Morton of Michigan; and three nephews, Richard Parker of Georgia, Ray Zwiller of Florida and Don Zwiller of Michigan; his caretaker, Shirley Richardson of Old Town; three grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Mary Spears Beach

Mary Spears Beach of Trenton died Sunday in Gainesville after a long illness. She was 53.

Mrs. Beach was born in Bell and a lifelong resident of the area. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband, Stan Beach of Trenton; daughter Tina Roberts of Live Oak; son David Heart of Bell; and five grandchildren.
