Henrietta Horne Blue
Henrietta Horne Blue of Chiefland died Friday in a Gainesville hospital. She was 83.
A native of Live Oak, she moved to Gainesville in 1960 and then to Chiefland last June. She was a retired medical transcriber for Shands Hospital. She served as a volunteer at the Gainesville Community Ministries and was a founding member of First Christian Church of Chiefland.
Mrs. Blue was preceded in death by her husbands, Gene Carlson and George Blue, and son Jimmy Carlson and grandson Jed Carlson.
She is survived by sons Robert Carlson and Larry Carlson and by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Raymond Holder
Raymond Holder of Melrose, who served with the Merchant Marines in many parts of the world, died Saturday in a Gainesville hospital. He was 85.
The retired merchant seaman was born in Alabama and moved from Dunnellon to Melrose in 1990. He served during World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Mathews Holder of Melrose; stepsons Choc Mathews of Jacksonville and Johnny Mathews of Melrose; stepdaughters Becky Fredriksson of Chipley, Martha Mathews of Seattle, and Josie McDaniel of Florahome; a sister-in-law, Betty Beckham of Gainesville; and 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Henry E. Plenge
LAKE CITY - Dr. Henry E. Plenge, a retired physician, died Friday. He was 89.
Dr. Plenge was born in Charleston, S.C., and became a pharmacist before entering the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. After a residency in Dallas, he practiced briefly in Bloomington, S.C., before moving to Lake City in 1968. He retired in 1983.
He served as president of the Columbia County Medical Society and was a member of the board of trustees of Forest Hills Academy. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the National Rifle Association, American Medical Association and Florida Radiological Society. He also was a supporter of the Florida Sheriffs' Boys Ranch. He was fond of hunting, fishing and boating.
Dr. Plenge is survived by his sons, Charles Plenge of North Augusta, S.C.; Richard Sanders of Nova Scotia; Karl Plenge of Lake City; William Plenge of Tallahassee; and John Plenge of Niceville.
Alan Dean Sandlin
Alan Dean Sandlin of Fort White died Saturday in a Gainesville hospital. He was 57.
Mr. Sandlin was born in Columbus, Ind., and moved to Fort White from Apopka in 1998. He was employed in trucking as a parts locator. He was a member of the Apopka Baptrist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Sandlin of Fort White; a son, Scott Alan Sandlin of Indiana; stepsons Donald Freed of Fort White, Edward Freed of Indiana, and Kevin Freed of Leesburg; a daughter, Rhonda Renee Sandlin of Indiana; brothers Thomas Sandlin, Kenneth Sandlin and Steve Sandlin of Indiana; and a grandchild, Trey Freed.
Hazel Evelyn Tudor Todd
Hazel Evelyn Tudor Todd of Chiefland died Sunday in a Gainesville hospital. She was 76.
She was a homemaker and a member of Hardeetown Baptist Church. She was born in Tennessee and moved to Chiefland from Albany, Ga., 31 years ago. Mrs. Todd was preceded in death by her husband, James Daniel Todd.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Todd Machen of Chiefland; sons James Todd of Atlanta, Joe Todd of Chiefland, and Roger Todd of Albany, Ga.; brothers Willis Tudor, Bill Tudor and Charles Tudor, all of Dayton, Ohio; sisters Pearl McCowan of Battle Creek, Mich.; and Betty Mazzone of Dayton, Ohio; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Clara Wadsworth
Clara Wadsworth of Live Oak died Saturday in the Health Care Center in Lake City after a long illness.
She was 94. Mrs. Wadsworth, an Ocala native, lived most of her life in Suwannee County. She was a homemaker and former society editor for the Suwannee Democrat. She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Live Oak.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louie Wadsworth.
She is survived by two daughters, Gail McCrimon of Live Oak and Charlotte Casey of St. Augustine, and five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Charles F. Cameron
MORRISTON - Charles F. Cameron of Morriston died Saturday in Williston. He was 79.
Mr. Cameron retired as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Born in Johnstown, Pa., he moved from Hollywood, Fla., to Morriston 27 years ago.
He was a member of Morriston Baptist Church and the Friendship Lodge F&AM; of Fellowship.
Survivors include his wife, Wynona Cameron of Morriston; a son, Charles F. "Rusty" Cameron Jr. of Fort Lauderdale; two daughters, Jean A. Young of Ocala and Jane Jones of Fort Lauderdale; a stepdaughter, Charlotte Reaberg of Morriston; and six grandchildren.
Henry Donald Nelson
MELROSE - Henry Donald Nelson of Melrose died Friday in Gainesville. He was 73.
Mr. Nelson worked for the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and then at the Consolidated City of Jacksonville as commanding officer of the Criminal Intelligence Section. He served in World War II aboard the USS Chicago in the Pacific Theater of War.
Born in Gainesville, he was raised in Jacksonville. He was a graduate of the University of North Florida and of the 93rd Section of the FBI National Academy.
Mr. Nelson was chairman of the Florida Intelligence Unit and the Regional Organized Crime Information Center, and the Eastern zone chairman of the Law Enforcement Intelligence Unit.
He was a past master of the Ionic Lodge 101 F&AM; and a member of Trinity Baptist church of Keystone Heights.
Survivors include his wife of more than 50 years, Margaret Foxworth Nelson of Melrose; two sons, Larry Pullo and Randy Pullo, both of Jacksonville; a daughter, Margaret J. Nelson of Portland, Ore.; a brother, David Fulford of Jacksonville Beach; a sister, Gloria B. Ryerson of Jacksonville Beach; and two grandsons.
Nellie Austin Wilkinson
LAWTEY - Nellie Austin Wilkinson of Lawtey died Friday at Putnam Community Medical Center in Palatka. She was 93.
Mrs. Wilkinson was a homemaker. She was born in Highland and was a lifelong resident of Bradford County.
Mrs. Wilkinson was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Wilkinson, and a daughter, Daisy Boch.
Survivors include four daughters and two sons-in-law, Amanda and Bob Smith and Barbara and Tom Whaley, all of Starke, Magdalene Griffis and June Griffis, both of Palatka; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Deniene Renee Barrett
MORRISTON -- Deniene Renee Barrett of Morriston died Sunday in Morriston. She was 31.
Mrs. Barrett was born in Dayton, Ohio, and moved to Morriston from Orlando 10 months ago.
She was a UPS worker and a Baptist.
Survivors include a daughter, Brandi Victoria Hibbard of Morriston; three sons, Matthew Warren Barrett, Brad Michael Barrett and Bryan Allen Barrett, all of Morriston; her parents, Donald J. and Ruth M. Miller of Williston; and two sisters, Bonnie Lynn Sanders of California and Sandra Slacks of New Port Richey.
Pasquale A. Dimaggio
WILLISTON -- Pasquale A. Dimaggio of Williston died Sunday at Nature Coast Hospital. He was 72.
The Chicago native was a Catholic. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 23 years and the U.S. Navy for three years.
He has no local survivors.
James Clark Gillespie
OCALA -- James Clark Gillespie of Ocala died Tuesday in Ocala. He was 16.
The Gainesville native was a student.
Local survivors include his mother, Sally C. Gillespie of Ocala; his father, Jonathan Gillespie of Newberry; and his grandparents, Paul R. and Grace P. Gillespie.
Harry M. Harrell
OCALA -- Harry M. Harrell of Ocala died Sunday in Ocala. He was 94.
Mr. Harrell was born in Carabelle and moved to Ocala 15 years ago.
He was a supervisor with Gulf Life Insurance. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Marion Dunn Lodge No. 19 F & AM.
Survivors include three sons, Don Harrell of Belleview, Mike Miller of Jacksonville and Don Quick of Palatka; a brother, Cader Harrell of Auburndale; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Eunice Hunter
LIVE OAK -- Eunice Hunter of Live Oak died Saturday. She was 81.
Mrs. Hunter was born in Lake City and moved to Live Oak in 1946.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Live Oak Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, John L. Hunter of Live Oak; a daughter, Shera Fike of Dallas; two sons, Arnold Hunter of Live Oak and Randolph Hunter of Dallas; eight grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren.
