Mary Traxler Cory

Mary Traxler Cory of Overland Park, Kan., died Oct. 17 in Kansas. She was 61.

The Alachua native was an elementary school teacher and a counselor. Local survivors include a sister, Carolyn TeStrake of Gainesville.

Maydel Brewer Edmundson

WILLISTON - Maydel Brewer Edmundson of Williston died Wednesday at the Hospice House of Gainesville. She was 72.

Mrs. Edmundson was born in Perry and lived in Williston for all of her adult life.

She was a member of First Methodist Church of Williston.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Robert L. Edmundson of Williston; four sons, Larry Edmundson, Gene Edmundson, Jerry Edmundson and Randy Edmundson, all of Williston; four grandchildren and a great- grandchild.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Hospice of North Central Florida or to the Methodist Children's Home.

Frank Ellis

Frank Ellis of Tallahassee died at his home Monday. He was 48.

The Gainesville native was a bus driver and a Baptist.

Local survivors include his wife, Mary Brown-Ellis of Tallahassee; three daughters, Genora, Tusonja and Corenda Ellis, all of Gainesville; a stepson, Johnny McCree of Gainesville; his mother, Juanita Pinkney of Gainesville; a brother, Johnny Lee Pinkney of Gainesville; and three grandchildren.

Ernest Keith M. Garner

Ernest Keith M. Garner of Tallahassee died Nov. 8 in Gainesville. He was 27.

Mr. Garner, who served in the U.S. Navy, was born in Carrabelle and moved to Tallahassee a year ago. Local survivors include a brother, Darniel Forest of Cross City.

Jan E. Gordon

ALACHUA - Jan E. Gordon died Monday at her residence in Alachua. She was 42.

Mrs. Gordon was born in Fort Lauderdale and moved to Alachua from Boca Raton in 1976.

She was a cashier at Home Depot. She was a Catholic.

Survivors include two daughters, Kelly Gordon and Alicia Gordon, both of Alachua; her father, William R. Ruff of Lake City; and a sister, Karen Kirkpatrick of Gainesville.

John H. Green

The Rev. John H. Green of Gainesville died Saturday at Shands at AGH following a brief illness. He was 68.

The Rev. Green was born in Oakfield, Ga., and moved to Gainesville from Lake Butler about 30 years ago.

He was an assistant pastor at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was a member of the Pallbearers Lodge No. 113.

He was a truck driver.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Green of Gainesville; a son, John Henry Spencer II; nine daughters, Gloria Davis, Louise Green, Joan Ingram, Isabelle Weary, Tessarah Johnson, Christina Hayines, Alesia Tillman, Charlotte Nelson, Annawill Mann, all of Gainesville; six stepdaughters, Cathy Welch, Charlotte McGill, Cassandra Garrison and Cheryl McGill, all of Gainesville, Carrie Wade of St. Louis, and Colette Laws of Albany, Ga.; two stepsons, Clarence McGill of Corpus Christi, Texas, Calvin McGill of Knoxville, Va.; four sisters, Vera Ruth of Fort Pierce, Susie Davis of LaBelle and Eva Glenn and Janie Faison, both of Gainesville; five brothers, Joe Green, Johnnie Green and George Green, all of Gainesville, James McFall of Fort Pierce and Eddie Green of Alabama; 32 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, 28 step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren.

Ora Morgan Horn

Ora Morgan Horn of Gainesville died Tuesday in Gainesville. She was 89.

Mrs. Horn was born in Dover, Tenn., and moved to Gainesville from Chattanooga, Tenn., in 1993.

She was a retired teacher and a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include a stepson, Richard Horn of Columbia, S.C.; a brother, Stanton A. Morgan of Gainesville; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Willie McMillan

Willie McMillan of Philadelphia died Friday. He was 81.

Mr. McMillan was a former High Springs resident.

He has no local survivors.

Isaiah Minter

Isaiah Minter of Gainesville died Nov. 9 at the Oaks Residential and Rehabilitation Center in Gainesville. He was 82.

Mr. Minter was born in North Carolina and moved to Gainesville from Lake City in 1950.

He was a custodian supervisor with the University of Florida for 25 years.

He was a member of Bartley Temple United Methodist Church, where he served as a trustee.

Survivors include four sons, Robert L. Minter, Isaiah L. Minter and Leon J. Minter, all of Gainesville, and Isaac Minter of Kingsley, Ga.; six daughters, Betty Ellison of Newberry, Lillie M. Anderson of Tampa, Mayola Minter, JoAnn M. Hayes, Frances M. Mills and Edna W. Holmes, all of Gainesville, and Shirley Rutledge of Hawthorne; 52 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren and 10 great- great-grandchildren.

Lillian Barbara Muzzey

NEWBERRY - Lillian Barbara Muzzey of Newberry died in Gainesville on Tuesday. She was 69.

Mrs. Muzzey was born in Chicago and moved to Gainesville from Wheaton, Ill., 27 years ago.

She was a homemaker.

She attended Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Howard William Muzzey of Newberry; three daughters, Linda Woodard of Oklahoma, Eileen Hector of Tampa and Shirley Burrell of Jacksonville; four sons, Timothy Muzzey and Christopher Muzzey, both of Newberry, and Steven Muzzey and Phillip Muzzey, both of Texas; and two sisters, Loretta Kodatt and Mary Ann Kachlik, both of Illinois; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to the St. Francis House.

Oletha Marie Nix

OLD TOWN - Oletha Marie Nix of Old Town died Tuesday in Gainesville. She was 87.

Mrs. Nix was born in Blount County, Ala., and moved to Old Town seven years ago.

She was a sales clerk and a member of Bethel Missionary Church in Milton.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Ellis E. Nix; and a son, Joseph Daniel Nix.

Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Ellis of Old Town; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Guyrene H. Southerland

HIGH SPRINGS - Guyrene H. Southerland of High Springs died Sunday. She was 94.

Mrs. Southerland was born in Tilden, Miss., and moved to High Springs from Wauchula in 1933.

She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

She was the widow of Arthur A. "Ott" Southerland, whom she met in a strawberry field picking and packing strawberries in the 1920s for $10 a week.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Martha Ann. S. King and Julia Ann S. Rice.

Survivors include a son, James Howard Southerland of Gainesville; a sister, Celo Gordy of Wauchula; a brother, Paul Henderson of Wauchula; six grandchildren, Jimmy, Ann, Sherry, Pat, Holly and Arthur; and nine great-grandchildren.

Andrew Tate

REDDICK - Andrew Tate of Reddick died Monday at Shands at the University of Florida following an extended illness.

He was 69.

Mr. Tate was born in Huntsville, Ala., and moved to Reddick from Brooklyn, N.Y., three years ago.

He was an electrical technician and a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Ocala.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Daniels Tate of Reddick; a sister, Mary Hampton of Lima, Ohio; an aunt, Celeste Jones of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a nephew and two grand- nephews.
