Leah Ellen Sever

Leah Ellen Sever of Winter Springs died of an asthma-related illness Thursday at Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando. She was 7.

Leah was a first-grader at Winter Springs Elementary School.

Born in Hillsboro, Ohio, she moved from Gainesville to Winter Springs in 1999.

She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include her mother, Lisa M. Sever of Winter Springs; her father, Michael S. Sever of Summerfield; a brother, Michael John Sever of Winter Springs; a sister, Brittany Nicole Sever of Winter Springs; two stepbrothers, J.W. Tidwell and Joshua Tidwell, both of Summerfield; two stepsisters, Samantha Goldberg of Winter Springs and Suzanne Stanton of Texas; her maternal grandparents, Col. William Brian and Lolita Meharg of Satellite Beach; and her paternal grandparents, Richard and Mary Sever of St. Petersburg.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to Christian Family Services in Gainesville.

Charles Shaller

RAIFORD -- Charles "Johnny" Shaller of Raiford died Thursday at Brookwood Nursing Center in Starke following a brief illness. He was 84.

Mr. Shaller was a lifelong resident of Union County.

He was a member of the Victory Revival Center in Starke.

He is survived by his foster parents, Elbert and Thelma Thornton of Raiford; a sister, Winnie Revell of Apopka; and seven foster brothers, Jerry Thompson, Carl Inman, Mike VanLeeuwen, David Busby, Paul Landress, Wilburn Wilson and Bill Swofford, all of Raiford.

The family requests that memorial donations be sent to the Diamond Acres Group Home to cover funeral expenses, care of Thelma Thornton.

Marie Hurst

BRANFORD -- Marie Hurst, a lifelong resident of Branford, died Friday at Shands at Live Oak. She was 78.

Mrs. Hurst was a homemaker. She was a member of the Women's Missionary Union and the Hatchbend Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Herbert Hurst of Cross City, Larry Hurst of Albany, Ga., and Gary Hurst of Branford; a sister, Dovie Hatch of Branford; two brothers, L.C. Sullivan and Bernard Sullivan, both of Jacksonville; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Maude Y. Lynn

Maude Y. Lynn of Gainesville died Saturday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. She was 86.

Mrs. Lynn was born in Greenville, S.C., and moved to Gainesville from Washington, D.C., 30 years ago.

She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, John C. Lynn of Gainesville; a daughter, Lorraine Lynn Andrews of Macon, Ga.; and three sisters, Martha Neal, Louise Leage and Mary Spearman, all of Greenville, S.C.

Warren B. Owens Jr.

GULF HAMMOCK -- Warren B. Owens Jr. of Gulf Hammock died Friday at home. He was 69.

Mr. Owens was born in Buena Vista, Ga., and moved to Gulf Hammock from Orlando in 1960.

He was a retired pipe fitter and a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard.

He was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union of Jacksonville and the Otter Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Betty J. Owens of Gulf Hammock; two daughters, Deborah Prokop of Trenton and Teresa Whitley of Newberry; five sons, Samuel Owens, Christopher Owens Sr. and Randall Owens, all of Gulf Hammock, Michael Owens of Bronson and Terry Owens of Williston; a brother, Dennis Owens of Blairsville, Ga.; and 12 grandchildren.

Vaye T. Pearson

MAYO -- Vaye T. Pearson, a lifelong resident of Mayo, died Friday at Lake City Medical Center. She was 87.

Mrs. Pearson was a homemaker and a member of Airline Baptist Church in Mayo.

Survivors include a daughter, Gwynell Pepin of Jewett City, Conn.; three sons, Carroll Pearson of Gainesville, Harold Pearson of Mayo and Elva Ray Pearson of Deland; a sister, Dovie Barrs of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; a brother, George Trawick of Columbus, Ga.; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to the Taunton Family Childrens Home.

Loca Crews Roberts

LAKE BUTLER -- Loca Crews Roberts of Lake Butler died Saturday at the Hospice House of Gainesville following an extended illness. She was 82.

Mrs. Roberts was born in Jacksonville and lived in Lake Butler for most of her life.

She was an Avon saleswoman, a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church of Lake Butler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Roberts.

Survivors include two daughters, Hilda Mallard of Lake Butler and Cheryl Jordan of Jacksonville; a son, Sanford Roberts of Chiefland; a sister, Mildred Sapp of Jacksonville; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Norman Prestridge Swain Sr.

LIVE OAK -- Norman Prestridge Swain of Live Oak died Thursday at Shands at Lake Shore. He was 90.

Mr. Swain was born in Baltimore and moved to Live Oak 40 years ago.

He worked in the tobacco warehouse industry. He was a past president of the Bright Belt Warehouse Association and a member of the Executive Committee of Tobacco Associates and the 37th Man Advisory Committee.

He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Swain of Live Oak; two daughters, Annette Irene Swain-Leo of Greenville, N.C., and Ada Swain Harriss of Halifax, N.C.; two sons, Norman P. Swain Jr. of Greenville and Rodney Lewis Swain of Live Oak; a brother, William F. Swain of Durham, N.C.; and four grandchildren.

Agnes Jeanette Swilley

HIGH SPRINGS -- Agnes Jeanette Swilley, a lifelong resident of High Springs, died Saturday at Lake City Nursing Home following an extended illness. She was 80.

Mrs. Swilley was a bookkeeper at the High Springs Bank and a member of First United Methodist Church in High Springs.

She graduated from High Springs High School in 1939.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Hampton.

Survivors include a son, Gary Swilley of High Springs; a brother, Henry Thomson of Newberry; and three grandchildren.

Woodrow Ottis Beauchamp Sr.

CHIEFLAND - Woodrow Ottis Beauchamp Sr. died Friday at his home after a long illness. He was 84.

Mr. Beauchamp was the founder and former owner of Beauchamp Hardware. He was also one of the founders of Drummond Community Bank in Chiefland and was a longtime board member.

Mr. Beauchamp was born in Judson and was a lifelong resident of Levy County.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chiefland.

Mr. Beauchamp was preceded in death by his wife, Macey Callaway Beauchamp.

Survivors include two sons, W.O. and Luther Beauchamp, both of Chiefland; three daughters, Ovieda Bishop, Frances Parnell and Susan Billings, all of Chiefland; 13 grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren.

Myrla M. Bishop

ARCHER - Myrla M. Bishop of Archer died Saturday at Shands at AGH. She was 78.

Mrs. Bishop was the retired postmaster of Archer.

She was born in Lakeland and moved to Archer 60 years ago. A member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church of Archer, Mrs. Bishop was a member and leader of the choir, a church organist and pianist, Sunday school teacher and leader of the Community Wide Prayer Partners.

Survivors include her husband, Berton M. Bishop of Archer; a son, B. Mell Bishop of Alcoa, Tenn.; a brother, M. Ellis Raulerson of Lakeland; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

James B. Gouger Jr.

James B. Gouger Jr. of Gainesville died Friday at his home after a short illness. He was 88.

Mr. Gouger was a retired contractor. He was born in Blairstown, N.J., and moved from Sebring to Gainesville about six years ago.

Mr. Gouger was a Presbyterian. He was also a Mason and an avid gardener and mineral collector.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cora E. Gouger.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. Richard J. Gouger of Gainesville and Dr. James B. Gouger III of Frederickburg, Va.; two granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter.
