Bonita Ryals King

LAWTEY -- Bonita Ryals King of Lawtey died Sunday at Shands Hospital at Starke following a sudden illness. She was 51.

Mrs. King was born in Milwaukee, Wis., and moved to Lawtey from Jacksonville 21 years ago.

She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church of Starke, a guardian ad litem, chairwoman of the district Health and Human Services board, a registered nurse and a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, George King of Lawtey; one daughter, Stephanie Green of Starke; two sons, Bryan King of Hampton and Mark King of Lawtey; four brothers, Wayne Coppedge of Milton, Jack Ryals of Melbourne, and Richard Ryals and Tony Ryals, both of Jacksonville; and three grandchildren.

Rae Carol Mangos

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Rae Carol Mangos of San Antonio, Texas, died Thursday. She was 59.

Mrs. Mangos lived in Gainesville from 1975 to 1982.

Survivors include her husband, the Rev. John A. Mangos, M.D., of San Antonio; daughters June Maria Matthews of Orlando, Marianna Gardea of El Paso, Texas, Elena Umbel of San Antonio, Texas and Yanna Goodwin of Austin, Texas; and six grandchildren.

Hazel Mae Parrott

Hazel Mae Parrott of Gainesville died Friday in Gainesville following a sudden illness. She was 88.

Mrs. Parrott was born in Kinston, N.C., and moved to Gainesville from Bartow in 1969.

She was a foster grandparent aide at Archer Elementary School and was a charter member of Parker Road Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Frances J. Spivey of Archer; one son, Franklin D. Parrott of Kinston; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Emmy Blake Whitney

HAWTHORNE -- Emmy Blake Whitney of Hawthorne died Sunday in Hawthorne. She was 95.

Mrs. Whitney was born in Ford River, Mich., and moved to Hawthorne in 1954 from Escanaba, Mich.

She was a homemaker and a member of Holy Communion Episcopal Church of Hawthorne and the Women of the Moose Hathaway Chapter 49 in Escanaba.

Mrs. Whitney was preceded in death by her husband, John "Jack" Whitney in 1989.

Survivors include one sister, Lucille M. Blake of Escanaba and several nieces and nephews.

Gladys Blankenship

WILLISTON -- Gladys M. Blankenship of Williston died Monday at her home. She was 87.

Mrs. Blankenship was born in Rexton, Mich., and moved to Williston from Hammond, Ind., in 1990. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Archer.

She enjoyed quilting and reading.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Langley Blankenship, and a daughter, Irene Wilson.

She is survived by a daughter, Gerry Jones of Williston; two sons, Wayne Blankenship of Gainesville and Floyd Blankenship of Anamosa, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Josephine N. Bowden

Josephine N. Bowden of Gainesville died Tuesday at North Florida Special Care Center. She was 74.

Mrs. Bowden was born in Norfolk, Va., and moved to Gainesville from Raleigh, N.C., in 1980.

She was a customer service representative with Nationwide Insurance Co. and a member of North Central Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Patti Guthrie of High Springs; a son, David Bowden of Durham, N.C.; a sister, Peggy Young of Boulder, Colo.; and six grandchildren.

Aleather Ruby Caldwell

Aleather Ruby Caldwell of Brooklyn, N.Y., died May 31 in Brooklyn. She was 85.

Mrs. Caldwell was born in Hawthorne and moved to Brooklyn from Miami 10 years ago.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two daughters, Earnestine Robinson of Miami and Kathelean Williams of Brooklyn; a son, William Nelson Goings of Germany; five sisters, Edna Berry and Alveta Levinston, both of Hawthorne, and Lillie Mae Mincy, Vivian Harris and Sallie Caldwell, all of Miami; eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

William P. Chitty

FLEMINGTON -- William P. "Willie" Chitty, a lifelong resident of Flemington died Tuesday at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was 80.

Mr. Chitty was a retired bus driver for the Marion County school system, and he was a retired security employee of the University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences. He also was a carpenter and an electrician.

He was a member of Fairfield Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Syble Mixson Chitty.

He is survived by two daughters, Barbara C. Hodge of Flemington and Kathryn C. Dodd of Lakeland; a sister, Margaret C. Key of Flemington; two brothers, Martin Chitty of Lake City and Monroe Chitty of Gulf Hammock; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

James Robert Comer IV

James Robert Comer IV was stillborn Friday at North Florida Regional Medical Center.

He is survived by his parents, Kerri L. Fanus of Bronson and James R. Comer III of Micanopy.

Survivors include grandparents, Kathleen Comer of Gainesville, James R. Comer II of Micanopy and Beverly and Jonathon Fanus of Bronson; and great-grandparents, Mary and James Comer Sr. of Micanopy, and Edna Colson Graham and Donna Speed, both of Gainesville.

Ferne Merrill Kimball

HAWTHORNE -- Ferne Merrill Kimball of Hawthorne died Wednesday at Shands at Starke. She was 83.

Born in Portland, Maine, Mrs. Kimball moved to Hawthorne from Hudson 1-1/2 years ago. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, Merrill C. Kimball of Yarmouth, Maine, and Gerald W. Kimball of Hawthorne; and 10 grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy can be made in the form of donations to Hospice of North Central Florida.

Luz Milagros Pacheco

STARKE -- Luz Milagros Pacheco died suddenly Tuesday at her residence in Starke. She was 42.

Mrs. Pacheco was born in Puerto Rico and moved to Starke in 1977.

She was a homemaker. She attended Sampson City Church of God.

Survivors include a daughter, Emily Torres Gonzalez of Hampton; two sons, George Torres of Starke and Jose Torres of Daytona Beach; her mother, Secundina Aviles of Puerto Rico; her stepmother, Sonia Aviles of Hampton; five sisters, Sandra Aviles, Jose Aviles, Rey Aviles and Hector Aviles, all of Hampton, and Noemi Aviles of Fairbanks; five brothers, Juan Aviles, Carlos Aviles, Vilmaris Aviles, Robin Aviles and Victor Burtron, all of Florida; and eight grandchildren.

Eli Stewart Jr.

MICANOPY -- Eli "Flappy" Stewart Jr., a lifelong resident of Micanopy, died Wednesday at Sunbridge Care Center following a lengthy illness. He was 55.

Mr. Stewart was a laborer.

He is survived by a sister, Dora M. Watson of Gainesville.

Leomi Brown-Wilson

Leomi Brown-Wilson of Gainesville died Tuesday at her home following a sudden illness. She was 57.

Mrs. Brown-Wilson was born in Charleston, S.C., and moved to Gainesville from Queens, N.Y., in 1983. She was a telemarketing specialist.

She was a member of the American Cancer Society and St. Patrick's Catholic Church, where she was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She was also a regular contributor to the St. Francis House.

She is survived by a son, David E. Wilson of Starke; a daughter, Dawn E. Wilson of Gainesville; her mother, Dorothy Banks of Brentwood, N.Y.; a brother, Tony Banks of Uniondale, N.Y.; five sisters, Lorraine Rivera, Joanne Hunt, Joyce Brown and Diane Banks, all of New York, and Connie E. Smith of Gainesville; and eight grandchildren.

John H. Huguley Sr.

Ex-mayor of Waldo, J. Huguley

WALDO - John H. Huguley Sr., former mayor of Waldo, died Tuesday at his residence in Waldo. He was 75.

He was born in Phenix City, Ala., and moved to Waldo from Jacksonville 34 years ago.

Mr. Huguley served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He participated in the D-Day invasion at Normandy and later received the Purple Heart for wounds suffered during the Battle of the Bulge.

He attended Howard College in Birmingham, Ala. He served the community of Waldo as a councilman, then later served two terms as the mayor. He also served as fire chief for the Waldo Volunteer Fire Department and was instrumental in attaining their present building. He was a trustee for the First Baptist Church of Waldo and spent the last 30 years as a deacon.

Mr. Huguley was an avid fisherman.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Mildred Huguley of Waldo; three sons, John H. Huguley Jr. of Jacksonville; Kenneth W. Huguley of Starke and Dennis A. Huguley of Waldo; a sister, Sue Inez Jackson of Pensacola; a brother, Ashby F. Huguley of Jacksonville; and seven grandchildren.
