Floyd D. Baker

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS -- Floyd D. Baker, a lifelong resident of Keystone Heights, died Wednesday at Shands at Starke after an extended illness. He was 64.

A retired farmer, Mr. Floyd was a member of Melrose Masonic Lodge No. 89, the Amateur Radio Relay League, the Bradford County Amateur Club and the Keystone United Methodist Church.

Mr. Baker is survived by his wife, Ann Cox Baker of Keystone Heights; a daughter, Lori Angell of Jacksonville; a son, Richard Baker or Fort Lauderdale; three brothers, Lex Baker of Ashville, N.C., and Bill Baker and Anthony Baker, both of Keystone Heights; and four grandchildren.

Alma Banks Hunter

HAMPTON -- Alma Banks Hunter of Hampton died Thursday at Su-El's Retirement Home after a brief illness. She was 91.

Mrs. Hunter was born in Ashville, N.C., and lived in Lake Butler for 20 years before moving to Hampton two years ago.

Mrs. Baker was the widow of Grady Hunter. She was a homemaker and attended a Presbyterian church.

She is survived by her daughter, Patsy A. Hunter of Birmingham; two sons, Phil Hunter of Hampton and Jack Hunter of Harrisburg, Pa.; two brothers, Reese Banks of Barnardsville, N.C., and Wayne Banks of Ashville, N.C.; three sisters, Letha Hollingsworth of Lake Butler, Wilma Brown of Alma, Va., and Idell Yount of Barnardsville, N.C.; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Alma Cannon Lackey

LAKE BUTLER -- Alma Cannon Lackey died Friday at her residence in Lake Butler following an extended illness. She was 57.

Mrs. Lackey was born in Branford and moved to Lake Butler in 1983.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Lake City Ladies Auxiliary of the Moose.

Survivors include her husband, Mack Norman Lackey of Lake Butler; two daughters, Lisa Anne Christenson of Laurens, Iowa, and Marie Long of Georgia; three sons, Joby Sullivan of California, Johnny Abernathy of Georgia and Richard Kent of Virginia; a sister, Peggy Ann Cannon of New Smyrna Beach; two brothers, Roy Cannon and Richard Cannon, both of Greenville, Texas; and several grandchildren.

Clarence Leach Sr.

Clarence Leach Sr. died May 9 at North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was 83.

Mr. Leach was retired from the Ford Motor Co. in Cincinnati.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Order of Eastern Star.

He is survived by his wife, Ida Jenkins; two sons, Clarence Leach Jr. of Gainesville and Donald Leach of Cincinnati; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Fred A. Primo

Fred A. Primo of Gainesville died May 19 at his daughter's home after a lengthy illness. He was 83.

Mr. Primo, born in Mobile, Ala., moved to Gainesville from Decatur, Ala., in 1959.

Mr. Primo was employed as an electrical engineer with the University of Florida. He was former president of Phi Kappa Phi, Florida chapter. He was a member of the BarberGators and the Auburn Alumni Association. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.

He attended St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Primo of Gainesville; his sister, Gloria Stewart of Mobile, Ala.; nine daughters, Terry Gann of Sealy, Texas, Diane Davie of Woodbridge, Va., Janice Stearns, Pamela Fowler, Betsy Raduns and Alexis Powers, all of Gainesville, Debbie Hunt of Orlando and Susan Hause and Kathryn Asher, both of Jacksonville; four sons, Fred A. Primo Jr. of Roswell, Ga., Richard Primo of Atlanta, Stephen Primo of Crystal River and Michael Primo of Gainesville; 23 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of donations to the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association, the American Cancer Society or St. Patrick's Interparish School Fund.

Howard Joseph Wallace

HAWTHORNE -- Howard Joseph Wallace died Tuesday at his residence in Hawthorne. He was 78.

Mr. Wallace was born in Wheeling, W.Va., and moved to Hawthorne from Cleveland nine years ago.

He was a retired building engineer with the Miami Herald and Jackson Memorial Hospital. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans in Melbourne.

Survivors include two daughters, Theresa Martin of Miami and Michele Klenck of Palm Bay; six sons, Tom Wallace of Cleveland, Gerald Wallace of Stuart, Tim Wallace of Hawthorne, Bill Wallace of Biloxi, Miss., and Patrick Wallace and John Wallace, both of Melbourne; 20 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Sula Mae Cruse

HIGH SPRINGS - Sula Mae Cruse of High Springs died in her home Saturday following a lengthy illness. She was 91.

Mrs. Cruse was born in Newberry, S.C., and moved to High Springs 78 years ago. She was a retired packer with Copeland Sausage Co. and attended First Church of the Nazarene in High Springs.

Survivors include three daughters, Margaret Tyndal of High Springs, Viola Hodge of Leesburg and Ramona Lovin of High Springs; two sons, Lonnie Jackson Cruse and William Eugene Cruse, both of High Springs; 19 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Carol J. Dees

BRANFORD - Carol J. Dees of Branford died in her home Saturday following a long illness. She was 60.

Mrs. Dees was born in Hennessey, Okla., and moved to Branfordthe Hatchbend community 22 years ago from Elizabeth City, N.C. She was a postal clerk at the Branford Post Office, and she was a member of Hatchbend Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Billy George Dees of Branford; one daughter, Sherry Neu of Tallahassee; one son, Douglas Dees of Tallahassee; one sister, Alice Tinsman of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii; one brother, Bryan Gundlach of Bradenton; and two grandchildren.

Ruth NesSmith Jamerson

WORTHINGTON SPRINGS - Ruth NesSmith Jamerson of Worthington Springs died Sunday morning in her home after a long illness. She was 91.

Mrs. Jamerson was a lifelong resident of Union County. She was a homemaker and a member of Providence Village Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Lorie Elixson of Worthington Springs; two sons, Willis Seay of Worthington Springs and Pat Seay of Starke; 17 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Joan Libardi Jannotti

Joan Libardi Jannotti of Gainesville died Saturday in Gainesville. She was 64.

Mrs. Jannotti was born in New York City and moved to Gainesville from there in 1977. She was a secretary at the Santa Fe Community College health science building, where she was involved in the Health Science Learning Lab. A "Joan Appreciation Day" was held in her behalf by students Thursday.

Mrs. Jannotti was a lifetime member and past officer for the Florida Association of Community Colleges and was a past officer of the Gainesville chapter of the National Federation of the Blind. She was a Catholic.

Mrs. Jannotti was preceded in death by two husbands, Michael Libardi and Angelo Jannotti. Survivors include one daughter, Marianne Bjorklund of Gainesville; two sons, Michael Libardi of Manassas, Va., and Richard Libardi of Marietta, Ga.; and one grand- daughter.

Clarissa Jeannette Pike Lee

Clarissa Jeannette Pike Lee of Gainesville died Saturday of a sudden illness. She was 104.

Mrs. Lee was born in Easton, Pa., and moved to Gainesville from Minneapolis in 1959. She was a homemaker and attended First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include one son, Sheldon B. Lee of Watervliet, Mich., two half brothers, Dr. Donald Pike of Traverse City, Mich., and Edward Pike of Gaylord, Mich.; three grandchildren and five great- grandchildren.

Murrell Lee Pressley

Murrell Lee Pressley of Alachua died Sunday in the Ayers Health and Rehabilitation Center in Trenton following an extended illness. He was 76.

Mr. Pressley was born in Tampa. He lived in Alachua and Palatka before moving back to Alachua in 1965. He was a truck driver for Seaboard Coastline Railroad Co. for 23 years until his retirement in 1983. Mr. Pressley was a member of the New Oak Grove Baptist Church in Bland and a member of the Transportation Union in Jacksonville. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Eva L. Pressley of Alachua; one daughter, Sharon D. Malphurs of Alachua; two sons, Donald L. Pressley of Port St. Lucie and Glenn L. Pressley of Valdosta, Ga.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Maria Antonia Sanchez

Maria Antonia Sanchez of Gainesville died Saturday at Shands at Alachua General Hospital. She was 73.

Mrs. Sanchez was born in Cidra, Puerto Rico, and moved to Gainesville from Carolina, Puerto Rico, in 1995. She attended Iglesia Evangelica Bautista.

Survivors include two sisters, Ana Sanchez and Victoria Martinez, both of Gainesville; and several nephews and nieces.; two nephews, Edgar Martinez of Gainesville and Irving Martinez of Emerald Isle, N.C.; and two nieces, Idelisa Martinez of Atlanta, Ga., and Ilsa Martinez of Gainesville.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to the American Lung Association or Hospice of North Central Florida at 4200 NW 90th Blvd., Gainesville 32606.

Clarence Mac Brown Jr.

Clarence Mac Brown Jr. of Gainesville died Saturday at Shands at the University of Florida following a sudden illness. He was 45.

Mr. Brown was born in Jacksonville and moved to Gainesville seven years ago.

He was a maintenance worker at the UF Hotel and Conference Center.

Survivors include his wife, Oretha Brown of Gainesville; two daughters, Clanesia Brown and Clamethia Brown, both of Jacksonville; a son, Clarence Mac Brown III of Jacksonville; a stepdaughter, Connie Cash of Gainesville; three stepsons, Louis Walker, Damion Thomas and Julius Thomas, all of Gainesville; two sisters, Hazel Brown and Doris Brown, both of Jacksonville; and four brothers, Charles Brown of Orlando, and Herbert Brown, Carrie Brown and Emory Brown, all of Jacksonville.
