Rosser William Jenkins
CHIEFLAND - Rosser William Jenkins of Chiefland died at his home Friday.
He was 52.
Mr. Jenkins was born in Sterlin, Md., and moved to Gainesville from Virginia 20 years ago.
He was a salesman with Keebler.
Mr. Jenkins was a member of Lighthouse Word Church.
He was active in the prison ministry.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Jenkins of Chiefland; a daughter, Melody Jenkins of Germany, two sons, Michael Godwin and Rosser Jenkins, both of Chiefland; his mother, Mary Woodard of Martinsburg, W.Va.; his stepmother, Ann Jenkins of Chiefland; five sisters, Alice Deal and Susie Coffee, both of Boston, Daisy Huff of Martinsburg, Linda Fillyaw of Newberry and Janet Hammond of Chiefland; two brothers, Bill Jenkins of Morriston and Lester Jenkins of Gainesville; and a grandchild.
Vernon Markham
MORRISTON - Vernon Markham, a lifelong resident of Morriston, died Wednesday at North Florida Regional Medical Center.
He was 83.
Mr. Markham was a farmer and a Baptist.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Markham of Lucoma, N.C., and Jewell Sands of Montebrook; two sons, Jimmie Eugene Markham of Morriston and Willard Markham of Kileen, Texas; a brother and sister-in-law, Virgil and Dolly Markham of Williston; nine grandchildren and three great- grandchildren.
Olin Glen Witt
HIGH SPRINGS - Olin Glen Witt of High Springs died Friday at his daughter's home in St. Augustine.
He was 85.
Mr. Witt was born in High Springs and moved to Interlachen from St. Marys, Ga., in 1974.
He was a retired heavy-equipment operator with Gilman Paper Co. in St. Marys and a member of the First Baptist Church of St. Marys.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey McLeon Witt of Interlachen; three daughters, Betty Witt of St. Marys, Ga., Glenda Witt Drew of Georgetown, S.C., and Gail Witt Harless of Santa Fe; a sister, Ona Witt Beckham of Santa Fe; six grandchildren and 15 great- grandchildren.
Margaret Sue Byrd
LIVE OAK -- Margaret Sue Byrd of Live Oak died Thursday at the Hospice Care Center in Gainesville. She was 66.
Mrs. Byrd was born in Gadsden, Ala., and moved to Live Oak from Fort White in 1987.
She worked in quality control for General Electric.
She was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, James T. Byrd of Live Oak; a daughter, Deborah Nickerson of Live Oak; two sons, James T. Byrd Jr. of Folkston, Ga., and Glenn Byrd of St. Johns, Mich.; two sisters, Laura Francis Kelly and Catherine Jenkins, both of Gadsden, Ala.; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great- grandchildren.
Glada M. Dalton
HIGH SPRINGS -- Glada M. Dalton of High Springs died Tuesday at Vencor Hospital in Green Cove Springs. She was 79.
Mrs. Dalton was born in Clendenin, W.Va., and moved to High Springs from Miami in 1980.
She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church of High Springs.
Mrs. Dalton was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Dalton.
She is survived by two brothers, French Smith of Clendenin, W.Va., and Bobby Smith of Street, Md.
Leonard Eugene Neville
MORRISTON -- Leonard Eugene Neville died Wednesday at his residence in Morriston. He was 70.
Mr. Neville was born in Odebolt, Iowa, and moved to Morriston from Indianapolis nine years ago.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a retired budget analyst for the U.S. Civil Service.
He was a Catholic.
Survivors include his wife, Karla Neville of Morriston; a daughter, Barbara Neville of California; a son, Paul Neville of Ill.; a sister, Lois Buswell of Iowa; and four grandchildren.
Gary Xavier Phipps
JACKSONVILLE -- Gary Xavier Phipps died Sunday at his Jacksonville residence after an extended illness. He was 68.
Mr. Phipps was born in Charleston, W.Va., and moved to Jacksonville in 1953.
He graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor's degree in business administration.
Mr. Phipps served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He worked for Gorman Wholesale Plumbing Supply and B&H; Plumbing in Gainesville for a number of years.
Survivors include his former wife, Mary Leonard of Jacksonville; two daughters, Lisa Jacobs of Jacksonville and Patricia Perry of Melrose; his mother, Viola Phipps of Lombard, Ill.; a sister, Judy Cipov of Lombard, Ill.; a brother, Karl Phipps of St. Augustine; two grandchildren; and a great- grandchild.
George Walker
George "Jesus" Walker of Gainesville died Tuesday at North Florida Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. He was 70.
Mr. Walker was born in Tallahassee and moved to Gainesville 58 years ago.
He was a retired Safety Cab driver.
Mr. Walker received his education through the Alachua County public schools.
He attended Jerusalem Church of God By Faith.
Survivors include his wife, Carrie Walker of Gainesville; eight daughters, Andria Lee, Linda Davis, Gail McCray, Wanda Walker and Geraldine Williams, all of Gainesville, Linda Smith of Jacksonville, and Yvonne Johnson and Lakesha Johnson, both of Dallas; three sons, George Walker Jr. and Wade Walker, both of Gainesville; and Jerry Walker of Long Beach, Calif.; a sister, Ann Green of Miami; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ora Lee Whitfield
Ora Lee Whitfield of Gainesville died Wednesday at Shands at AGH after an extended illness. She was 92.
Mrs. Whitfield was born in Micanopy and moved to Gainesville as a young adult.
She was a retired seamstress and a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
Survivors include a foster daughter, Beatrice Hamilton of Newberry; and her niece and caregiver, Helen S. Davis of Gainesville.
Frances Carlson
Frances "Bubs" Carlson died at her home in Cape Coral on Monday following a brief illness. She was 86.
Mrs. Carlson was born in Chicago and moved to Cape Coral from Bedford, Ind., in 1978.
She was an artist, a champion golfer and a skilled duplicate bridge player and director. She was active in civic affairs at the golf associations in Superior, Wis., and Bedford, Ind. At Otis Park Golf Club in Bedford, she was club champion or runner-up for more than a decade.
She was a longtime member of Palmetto-Pine Country Club and a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Cape Coral.
Mrs. Carlson was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Carl A. Carlson.
Survivors include a daughter; two sons, including David Carlson of Gainesville; a brother; and five grandchildren.

Teena Palmer
HIGH SPRINGS -- Teena Palmer of High Springs died Wednesday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. She was 68.
Mrs. Palmer was born in Fukuoka, Japan, and moved to High Springs from Germany in 1973.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of High Springs, where she sang in the Young at Heart Choir and the Sanctuary Choir.
Survivors include her husband, Billy Palmer of High Springs; a daughter, Laura A. Benthall of High Springs; four sons, Larry L. Lillard of Germany, Jerry W. Lillard of Prague, Czech Republic, Marty M. Lillard of High Springs and Billy A. Palmer of Pittsburgh; a brother, Shigama Moriyamo of Japan; 13 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
