Deloris Mary Gainey Dowling

STARKE -- Deloris Mary Gainey Dowling, a lifelong resident of Starke, died Monday at her home. She was 64.

Mrs. Dowling was a homemaker and a member of Hope Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Sheila Daugherty of Starke, Toni Peters of Hampton and Gwen Hamilton of Dunnellon; four sisters, Catherine Vanchoff and Christine Black, both of Lakeland, Iris Ludwig of Secor, Ill., and Linda Cribbs of Starke; a brother, Gerald Gainey of Palm Valley; five grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.

Robert Graham Green

Robert Graham Green, a lifelong resident of Starke, died Sunday at his home. He was 85.

Mr. Green was a retired chief deputy and bailiff for the Bradford County Sheriff's Office and a former owner of New Method Cleaners. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a Mason, a Shriner and a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Green; a daughter, Gayle Rowe Genereux; and a son, Jimmy Rowe.

Survivors include a daughter, Marian Sellers of Starke; two brothers, Herbert Green of Starke and Jimmy Green of Raiford; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great- grandson.

Thomas Liston Johns

Thomas Liston Johns died Thursday at his residence in Gainesville. He was 63.

Mr. Johns was born in Montgomery, Ala., and moved to Gainesville from Annandale, Va., 1-1/2 years ago.

He was a senior policy adviser with the U.S. Department of Education.

He received his bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees from the University of Florida. He was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. He served in the U.S. Army. He was an Episcopalian.

Survivors include his wife, Laura G. Johns of Annandale, Va.; two daughters, Allison Rebecca Johns and Amanda Gabrielle Johns, both of Annandale, Va.; two sisters, Joan J. Cantrell of Pensacola and Millicent J. Saunders of Gainesville; and a brother, Edwin C. Johns of Gainesville.

Lucille Fowler McAulay

OCALA -- Lucille Fowler McAulay of Ocala died Sunday in Ocala. She was 91.

Mrs. McAulay was born in Greenville and moved to Ocala from Gainesville in March.

She was a retired secretary for the University of Florida dean of agriculture. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women of First United Methodist Church, the Dogwood Circle of the Gainesville Garden Club and a charter member of the Geranium Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. McAulay Sr.

Survivors include a son, Charles M. McAulay Jr. of Ocala.

Norman Earl Phillips

Norman Earl Phillips of Hilliard died Saturday at Shands at Jacksonville. He was 57.

Mr. Phillips was born in Fulton, Mo., and moved to Hilliard from Brooker four years ago.

He was a forest technician and a Baptist. He served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Phillips of Hilliard; two daughters, Deborah Day Phillips Kelley of Keystone Heights and Diana Lynn Phillips of Brunswick, Ga.; two sisters, Margaret Madison and Mildred Colter, both of Fulton; two brothers, Webb Phillips and Don Phillips, both of Fulton; and three grandchildren.

Mary C. Kennard

BRONSON -- Mary C. Kennard of Bronson died July 30 at Shands at AGH. She was 75.

Mrs. Kennard was born in Williston and moved to Bronson from Titusville 20 years ago.

She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Survivors include a son, James D. Brown of Bronson; a brother, Marion A. Newton of Eustis; seven grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren.

Paul Clinton Sanders Sr.

Paul Clinton Sanders Sr. died Sunday at his residence in Gainesville. He was 52.

Mr. Sanders was born in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and moved to Gainesville in 1989.

He was a plumber.

Survivors include a son, Paul Sanders Jr. of Ocala; his mother, Lois Higgs of Tuscaloosa; a sister, Christine Baker of Tuscaloosa; five brothers, Robert Sanders of Ralph, Ala., C.L. Sanders of Montgomery, Ala., Jimmy Sanders of Moundville, Ala., Kenneth Sanders of Beaumont, Texas, and Johnny Sanders of Hollywood, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Betty Lee Watson

TRENTON -- Betty Lee Watson died Sunday at her residence in Trenton. She was 65.

Mrs. Watson was a lifelong resident of Trenton.

She was a homemaker and a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Cindi Sheffield of Trenton; three sons, Grady Watson of Keystone Heights, Justin Watson of Trenton and Gregg Watson of Chiefland; her mother, Lois Arrington of Trenton; a sister, Wilma Jean Asbell of Bronson; two brothers, Wayne Arrington and David Arrington, both of Trenton; and nine grandchildren.

Anna Jane Williams

Anna Jane Williams of Gainesville died Sunday at Shands at AGH. She was 68.

Mrs. Williams was born in Chambersburg, Pa., and moved to Gainesville from Asbury Park, N.J., in 1952.

She was an accounting clerk and a member of First Assembly of God.

Survivors include her husband, Roy Leland Thomas Williams Sr. of Gainesville; two daughters, Bonnie L. Jerico and Kimberly G. Krogulski, both of Gainesville; four sons, Roy Leland Thomas Williams Jr., Michael J. Williams and William J. Williams, all of Gainesville, and Gary M. Williams of High Springs; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Robert Beck Sr.

BRONSON -- Robert "Gene" Beck Sr. died Friday at his Bronson home after an extended illness. He was 58.

Mr. Beck was born in Knoxville, Tenn., and moved to Bronson from Miramar in 1987.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He received the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal.

He was a supervisor for Meekins Bamman Pre Stress Inc. until 1985.

He retired from Southern Vault Co. in 1996.

He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Lou Beck of Bronson; three daughters, Elizabeth Beck of Hollywood, Sharon Johnson of Orange City and Tammy Melton of Sunrise; two sons, Robert Eugene Beck Jr. of Bronson and Charles Johnson of Miramar; his father, Clifford D. Beck of Hollywood; and 10 grandchildren.

Tabitha Christine Farnsworth

LARGO -- Tabitha Christine Farnsworth of Largo died Friday at Sable Palm Nursing Center in Largo after an extended illness. She was 12.

She was born in Gainesville and moved to Largo from Newberry four years ago.

Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Teresa and Brad Edgington of Gainesville; her father and stepmother, Monty and Deanna Farnsworth of Newberry; her maternal grandparents, Harold and Brenda Dee of Gainesville; a sister, Marie Looney of Newberry; and three brothers, Cyruss Edgington of Gainesville, and Brett and Kevin Looney, both of Newberry.

Anne Ruth Greene

LIVE OAK -- Anne Ruth Greene of Live Oak died of cancer Tuesday at Orange Park Medical Center. She was 73.

Mrs. Greene was born in Kissimmee and lived in Like Oak for most of her life.

She was a member the First Advent Christian Church. She served as a deaconess.

Mrs. Greene loved crafts.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ethel Williams of Jacksonville; a son, Willie Greene of Live Oak; and two brothers, James Wade of Melbourne and Marvin Wade of Live Oak.

Norman Gene Highsmith Sr.

STARKE -- Norman Gene Highsmith Sr. of Starke died in an automobile accident Thursday. He was 48.

Mr. Highsmith was born in Jacksonville and moved to Starke 10 years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Highsmith of Starke; two daughters, Malinda Highsmith of Jacksonville and Kimberly Goodwin of Keystone Heights; four sons, Norman Highsmith Jr. and Bradley Highsmith, both of Jacksonville, Kevin Webb of Tennessee and Richard Goodwin of Keystone Heights; his parents, Bradley Leonard and Gladys Bonnie Highsmith of Jacksonville; three sisters, Carolyn Gainey and Molly Brown, both of Jacksonville, and Margie Koester of Ohio; three brothers, Henon Vaughn, Leonard Highsmith and Joe Highsmith, all of Jacksonville; and six grandchildren.
