Michael Scott Rebmann

Michael Scott Rebmann, a lifelong resident of Gainesville, died Wednesday in Gainesville. He was 19.

Michael was a student at Gainesville High School.

Survivors include his parents, Deborah and Peter Rebmann of Gainesville; and his maternal grandmother, Betty Lattin of Inverness.

Carey Elroy Specht

OLD TOWN - Carey Elroy "Skip" Specht died Tuesday in Old Town. He was 52.

Mr. Specht was born in Sheboygan, Wis., and moved to Old Town from Orlando in 2000.

He was a member of the Fanning Springs Community Church. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Specht of Old Town; daughters Terry and Mandy Specht, both of Orlando, and April and Rachel Specht, both of Old Town; his stepmother, Darlene Specht of Sheboygan; brothers Wayne Specht of Fountain, Colo., and Hal Specht of Sheboygan; sisters Dawn Stevenson and Penny Beltram, both of Sheboygan, and Dale Specht of Chesterton, Ind.

Ronald H. Burch

Ronald H. Burch of Gainesville died Friday at Shands at AGH from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was 51.

Mr. Burch was born in Waycross, Ga., and moved to Gainesville from Miami 10 years ago.

He was a mechanic.

Survivors include sons Ronald Burch Jr. of Miami, Darren Burch of White Springs, and Jermon, Richard, Marcus and Jarod Burch, all of Lake City; daughters Latrina Burch of White Springs, and Tabitha, Samantha and Tasheena Burch, all of Miami; his mother, Jessie L. Burch of Gainesville; brothers Vernon, Lawrence and Johnnie Burch Jr., all of Gainesville, Eric Burch of Miami; sisters Dionysious Lively of Miami, Mae Donna Thomas of Gainesville, and Faye Madison and Dawn Harper, both of Lake City; and nine grandchildren.

Louis Carnegie

WILLISTON - Louis Carnegie died Tuesday at his residence following an extended illness. He was 95.

Mr. Carnegie was born in Center Hill and moved to Williston from Dade City 74 years ago.

He was a retired custodian and a member of the Church of God by Faith, where he served as a deacon.

Survivors include sons Theodore Carnegie Sr. of Williston and Joseph Carnegie of Tallahassee; daughters Eula Conley of Tampa, Nora Burney of Kingston, N.C., and Avis Seabrook and Virginia C. McDonald, both of Williston; 25 grandchildren; 85 great-grandchildren; and 39 great-great-grandchildren.

Ashley Elizabeth Dukes

WORTHINGTON SPRINGS - Ashley Elizabeth Dukes, the 9-month-old daughter of Mark and Lauren Dukes of Worthington Springs, died Wednesday at her residence.

In addition to her parents, Ashley is survived by her maternal grandparents, David and Toni Wilcox of Winter Park; her paternal grandparents, Terry and Debi Dukes of Worthington Springs; her maternal great-grandfather, Anthony Manchak of Johnson City, N.Y.; and her paternal great-grandparents, Bob and Betty Smith of Worthington Springs.

Ana Milena Gomez

Ana Milena Gomez of Baltimore died Nov. 8 in Baltimore. She was 28.

The Gainesville native moved to Baltimore three months ago.

She was Catholic and a businesswoman.

Survivors include a daughter, Eli; her parents, Maria and Cesar Gomez of Gainesville; sisters Virginia and Patty Gomez, both of Gainesville; and brothers Alex, Daniel and Marcos Gomez, all of Gainesville.

James Bridgers Guthrie

James Bridgers Guthrie of Gainesville died Wednesday in Gainesville. He was 87.

Mr. Guthrie was born in Rockingham, N.C., and moved to Gainesville from Naples in 1991.

He worked as a civilian for the U.S. Air Force as a program manager at the Pentagon.

He attended Wingate Junior College in Monroe, N.C., and Southeastern University in Washington, D.C. Mr. Guthrie was a member and elder at First Presbyterian Church in Naples.

Survivors include his wife, Ann B. Guthrie of Gainesville; sons Ronald M. Guthrie of Oak View, Calif., and Keven C. Guthrie of Ventura, Calif.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Essie M. Hunt

NEWBERRY - Essie M. Hunt, a lifelong resident of Newberry, died Nov. 7 at her residence. She was 85.

Mrs. Hunt was a homemaker and a member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include sons Elder Herbert H. Hunt of Tampa, Elder Walter L. Hunt and Moderator L.C. Hunt, both of Newberry, and Elder Larry Hunt of Tallahassee; daughters Mercida E. James of Gainesville and Rosa Lee Thomas of Winter Haven; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Claude Mathew Kirkland

OLD TOWN - Claude Mathew Kirkland died Wednesday at his residence. He was 75.

Mr. Kirkland was born in St. Petersburg and moved to Old Town from Tarpon Springs in 1983.

He was a self-employed businessman and a Baptist. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was a founding member of the Lions Club in Tarpon Springs and a past governor of the Suwannee River Moose Lodge.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Patricia Kirkland of Old Town; sons Dan Kirkland of Ocala and Ron Kirkland of Holiday; a daughter, Janice Garner of Mulberry; a brother, James Kirkland of Atlanta; and four grandchildren.

Henry Means

Henry Means, a longtime resident of Gainesville, died Friday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was 71.

Mr. Means was a retired auto mechanic and a member of Second Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a chairman of the deacon board. He was a foster parent. He was a member of the Farmer's Aide Society.

Survivors include his wife, Adell Means of Gainesville; daughters Brenda Phillips and Diane McClendon, both of Gainesville, Patricia Wiggins of Archer, Ora Williams and Brenda Brown, both of Gainesville, Patricia Baker of Jacksonville and Earnestine Brown of Lakeland, Ga.; sons Wayne Means of Valdosta, Ga., Jerry Tucker of Archer, Ulysesse Hayes, Theodore Brown and Fredrick Brown, all of Alachua, and Charlie Brown of Gainesville; sisters Idella Hill and Emma Wade of Archer, Hettie Witherspoon of Orlando and Mertice Britt of Bushnell; brothers Abraham Means of Bushnell, Gilbert Means of Gainesville and L.C. Amico of Miami; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Paul Richard Mellin

GRAHAM - Paul Richard Mellin died Wednesday at Shands at Starke following a sudden illness. He was 69.

Mr. Mellin was born in Rockland, Maine, and moved to Graham from Gainesville 14 years ago.

He was a Lutheran and a retired automobile and airplane inspector.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha E. Mellin of Graham; and a son, Richard Mellin of Tampa.

Darroll Onray Smith

Darroll Onray Smith of Gainesville died Tuesday at Shands at the University of Florida following a lengthy illness. He was 53.

Mr. Smith was born in Detroit and moved to Gainesville from Gary, Ind., 15 years ago.

He was a counselor with the Association of Retarded Citizens.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He was a member of Showers of Blessing Church, where he served as head deacon.

Survivors include his wife, Diana Smith of Gainesville; his mother, Bessie Pearl Reed of Paducah, Ky.; sons David and Terry Garret, both of Chicago, Darroll Lambert of Paducah, Carlos Smith of Gary, Ind., Emanuel Smith, Antrell Hamilton and Aaron Hamilton, all of Gainesville, and Javon Smith of Cocoa Beach; daughters LaDonna Smith of Gary, Ind., Helen Smith, Mildred Jackson and Genell Logan, all of Gainesville, and Mary Lambert of Paducah; brothers Larry and Charles Smith, both of Chicago, Warren Smith of Elkins, W.Va., Clifford Smith of Memphis, Tenn., Gary Smith of Belleville, Ill., and Nelvin Smith of St. Louis, Mo.; sisters Lavora Edmonds of Cahokia, Ill., Sonya Marquardt of East St. Louis, Mo., Lisa Bates of Chicago and Sylvia Huff of Paducah; and several grandchildren.
