Patricia Ann Cadena

Patricia Ann Cadena died Nov. 28 at her daughter's home in Interlachen after a brief battle with cancer. She was 66.

Ms. Cadena was born in St. Louis, Mo., and moved to Gainesville from Columbus, Ga. She was a dental hygienist in Columbus, Ga., and at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Gainesville.

She was a Realtor, a bank teller, a builder and contractor, and a census field representative for the U.S. Census Bureau.

She was a member of the Gainesville Realtors Association, the Gainesville Builders Association, the University of Florida Goal Liners and the West Putnam Arts committee.

She founded the local chapter of Parents of Murdered Children in Gainesville and was the main contact for parents of murdered children in Florida.

She was active and instrumental in changing Florida Law involving medical examiners in Florida.

Survivors include daughters Theresa M. Woods of Interlachen, Leslie Benton of Gainesville and Lisa Melton of Interlachen; a son, David Melton of Tampa; a brother, Jack S. Cadena of Columbus, Ga.; a sister, Cyd Cadena of Pensacola; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Shirley D. Frangella

WILLISTON - Shirley D. Frangella died Thursday. She was 65.

She was born in Anita, Iowa, and moved to Williston from Tampa five years ago. She was a housewife and Catholic.

Survivors include sons Kent Frangella and Olivio Frangella, both of Williston, and Jamie Frangella of Bartow; daughters Robin Eckhard of Inverness and Roxanne Bickerstaff of Gadsden, Tenn.; brothers Dale Jensen of Iowa and Gary Jensen of North Carolina; sisters Lavone, Connie and Barbara, all of Iowa; and six grandchildren.

Maude Knight Yawn Henderson

Maude Knight Yawn Henderson of Gainesville died Thursday in Atlanta. She was 90.

Mrs. Henderson was born in Clay County, Ala., and moved to Gainesville from Graceville in 1956.

She was a homemaker and a retired school secretary. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gainesville.

Survivors include daughters Donna Chancy of Atlanta and Amy Guinn of Jacksonville; a stepdaughter, Sandra Thurlow of Stuart; stepsons Russell Henderson and Robert Henderson, both of Gainesville; nine grandchildren; and nine great- grandchildren.

Clarence Lewis Justice

HAWTHORNE - Clarence Lewis Justice died Friday in Shands at AGH. He was 38.

Mr. Justice was born in Tulsa, Okla., and moved to Hawthorne one year ago from Asheville, N.C.

He was a hairdresser and attended Eden Baptist Church.

Survivors include his parents, Conrad E. and Myrtle JoAnn Justice of Hawthorne; paternal grandmother Cornelia Myrtle Justice of Asheville, N.C.; sisters Brenda Newman and Rhonda Butler of Hawthorne; and one brother, Conrad E. Justice Jr. of Jacksonville.

Winnie Story Reeves

JACKSONVILLE - Winnie Story Reeves died Friday. She was 96.

She was born in Spencer, Tenn., and was a housewife. She was a member of McIntosh Christian Center.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara S. Cole, and a son, Herbert O. Story.

Survivors include daughters Dorothy S. Knight and Elizabeth Vallie Pashley, both of Jacksonville; sons Harold F. Story of Tampa and Richard D. Story of Hawthorne; 24 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Edith Kite Riley

HAGUE - Edith Kite Riley died Friday at Ayers Nursing Center in Trenton. She was 88.

Mrs. Riley was born in Gainesville and was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a homemaker, a foster parent and a longtime member of Oak Hill Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school.

Mrs. Riley was preceded in death by her husband, Quillon Riley.

Survivors include daughters Marguerite Lee of Newberry, Janice Moore of High Springs, and Hazel Pearce and Dottie Holmes, both of Gainesville; one son, Quillon Riley Jr. of Alachua; one sister, Laverne Dowling of Gainesville; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Ernest F. Smith

WILLISTON - Ernest F. "Pete" Smith died Saturday at Shands at AGH. He was 76.

Mr. Smith was born in Williston and was a lifelong resident. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was an officer with the Williston Police Department for five years, and was deputy and investigator for the Levy County Sheriff's Office for 23 years. Mr. Smith was a member of the First Baptist Church of Williston.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Smith of Williston; daughters Linda McGruther of Ocala and Greta Rice of Gainesville; one son, Mark Smith of Newberry; one sister, Eloise "Bill" Hickox of Ocala; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Leo Nyles Stewart

CHIEFLAND - Leo Nyles Stewart died Friday. He was 83.

Mr. Stewart moved to Chiefland from Oklahoma 11 years ago and was a retired drapery business owner. He was a member of the Suwannee Twirlers, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Family Bible Chapel.

Survivors include daughter Sherri Stewart of Laguna Hills, Calif.; son Leo Stewart Jr. of Vancouver, Wash.; sister Anne McKinney of Trenton; brother Fred Stewart of Charlton, Mass.; and two grandchildren.

Phillip Rayburn Zinn

Phillip Rayburn Zinn of Gainesville died Friday. He was 81.

He was born in Blair, Okla., and was a retired teacher, principal and Methodist minister.

He moved to Gainesville in 1994 and was a member of First Christian Church.

He enjoyed genealogy and writing.

Survivors include a son, Phillip Joseph Zinn of Gainesville; a brother, Joseph Benjamin Zinn of Stillwater, Okla.; a sister, Alcy Wilkie of Blair, Okla.; and two grandchildren.

Clenton Ernest Brown

HIGH SPRINGS - Clenton Ernest Brown, a lifelong resident of High Springs, died Tuesday at his residence. He was 69.

Mr. Brown was a lineman for Florida Power for 33 years. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Church of Christ.

He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 137 and the Clayno Hunting Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his shop.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Brown of High Springs; a son, Sam Brown of High Springs; stepsons Kenneth and Joe Roberts, both of High Springs; daughters Sandy Owens and Teresa Gibson, both of High Springs; stepdaughters Shirley Fulford of Alachua and Pamela Dapson of Plant City; brothers Jerry Brown of Branford and Joe Cephus Brown of High Springs; a sister, Fannie Lou Brunson of Lakeland; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Corine Stewart Nettles Carter

BRONSON - Corine Stewart Nettles Carter died Monday in Gainesville. She was 84.

The Baker County native moved to Bronson from Starke 12 years ago.

She was a homemaker and a Pentecostal.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Carter.

Survivors include daughters Virginia Pitts of Hawthorne, Gloria Allen of Bronson and Mildred Graham of Arkansas; a stepdaughter, Linda LaSage of Orange Park; a brother, Carl Stewart of Starke; nine grandchildren; and nine great- grandchildren.

Richard Ehrlich

Richard Ehrlich of Gainesville died Tuesday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was 79.

Mr. Ehrlich was born in New York City and moved to Gainesville from Saratoga, Calif., three years ago.

He was a retired nuclear engineer for General Electric.

He received a bachelor's of science degree from Harvard University and a master's degree and doctorate in physics from Cornell University.

Mr. Ehrlich was an elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Schenectady, N.Y., and attended Faith Presbyterian Church of Gainesville.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Eleanor Ehrlich of Gainesville; a son, Paul Ehrlich of Gainesville; a daughter, Joan Kerby of Richmond, Va.; a sister, Miriam Jencks of Lexington, Mass.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
