John Calvin Gainey Jr.
n John Calvin Gainey Jr. of Jacksonville died Friday at Shands at Starke. He was 54.
The South Carolina native was a retired manager with Sears, a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran and a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Ann Gainey of Jacksonville; a son, and four siblings.

Daniel Carl Lawson
CHIEFLAND - Daniel Carl Lawson died Sunday at Shands at the University of Florida. He was 50.
Mr. Lawson was born in Hanover, Pa., and moved to Chiefland from Pompano Beach 17 years ago.
He was a machine operator with a plastic company and a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He was a past president of the Aid Association for Lutherans.
Survivors include his wife, Penny Lawson of Chiefland; sons Daniel Lawson Jr. and Stephen DeRocco, both of Chiefland; a brother, Robert Lawson of Chiefland; and a sister, Janet Cash of Okeechobee.

Fred Walter Leak Jr.
NEWBERRY - Fred Walter Leak Jr. died Thursday in Newberry. He was 44.
Mr. Leak was born in Jacksonville and moved to Newberry from Gainesville 10 years ago. He was a professor in the animal sciences department at the University of Florida. He received his doctorate from the University of Kentucky.
He was a member of Community Presbyterian Church in Atlantic Beach.
Survivors, all of Atlantic Beach, include his parents, Fred and Louise Leak; and a sister, Leslie L. Duckworth.

Emilia S. LeZotte
Emilia S. LeZotte of Gainesville died Sunday in Gainesville. She was 99.
Mrs. LeZotte was born in Puerto Rico and moved to Gainesville in 1994.
She began her career as a high school biology teacher. After earning a master's degree in public health education from the University of Michigan, she returned to the teaching profession and taught health education. She ended her career as a pharmacist. She attended Holy Faith Catholic Church.
Survivors include sons Lloyd LeZotte Jr. of Gainesville and John I. LeZotte of Pahrump, Nev.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Fleetie Corsbie Stevens
NEWBERRY - Fleetie Alice Corsbie Stevens died Sunday at her daughter's home in Newberry following an extended illness. She was 87.
Mrs. Stevens was born in Alsboro, Ala., and moved to Newberry from Tishomingo, Miss., in 1999. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include sons Olen Lawson of Lumber Bridge, N.C., Robert Durham of Perry and Otis Lawson of Waco, Texas; daughters Alphie Beach of Perry, Charlotte Corbin of Steinhatchee, Vondla Sullivan of Newberry, Cindy Reno of Tishomingo, Miss., and Dottie Dexter of Jasper, Ala.; 28 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Carl Muenchausen
Carl Fredrick Muenchausen of Colorado Springs, Colo., died Nov. 21 in Colorado Springs. He was 49.
The Trenton native was a Realtor and a member of the Gainesville Association of Realtors.
He was a member of Holy Faith Catholic Church.
Survivors include daughters Jennifer Archuleta and Christina and Sara Rose Muenchausen, all of Gainesville; sons Eric and Michael Muenchausen, both of Gainesville; a brother, Doug Muenchausen of Colorado Springs; a sister, Marlene Swisshelm of Gainesville; and a grandson.

Fleming Bennett
Fleming Bennett of Gainesville died from pneumonia Thursday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was 90.
Mr. Bennett was born in Everson, W.Va., and moved to Gainesville from Tucson, Ariz., in 1964.
He was a librarian emeritus at the University of Florida. He was associate director of libraries at the time of his retirement in 1973. He did doctoral work at the University of Chicago and was listed in Who's Who in America.
He graduated from Fairmont State College in West Virginia. He received a degree in library science from Western Reserve University.
Mr. Bennett served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Violet M. Bennett of Gainesville; a daughter, Carole R. Porter of Peachtree City, Ga.; a son, Richard F. Bennett of Gainesville; and two grandchildren.
Lt. Col. Paul John Buckley
WILLISTON -- Lt. Col. Paul John Buckley, a highly decorated U.S. Air Force veteran, died Sunday at his residence in Williston. He was 81.
The Portsmouth, N.H., native maintained homes in Cambridge, Maine, and Williston.
A U.S. Air Force combat pilot, Lt. Col. Buckley flew in a total of 385 combat mission during his 31 years of active service -- 83 in World War II, 103 in the Korean War and 189 in the Vietnam War. He retired in 1972.
He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star, the Air Medal with 16 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Air Force Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters and the Republic of Vietnam Air Medal. He was a Catholic and a graduate of Southern Colorado University.
Mr. Buckley was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Bennett Buckley.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Garrett Buckley; two daughters, Maureen E. Buckley of Stow, Mass., and Kathleen G. Buckley of Boxborough, Mass; two sons, Robert P. Buckley of Windham, N.H., and James A. Buckley of Augusta, Maine; and six grandchildren.
Clarence Leo Cooper
STARKE -- Clarence Leo Cooper died Monday at his residence in Starke. He was 83.
Mr. Cooper was born in Old Town and moved to Starke many years ago.
He was a retired DuPont employee and a member of Madison Street Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby I. Cooper of Starke; a daughter, Clairnell Cooper Ellis of Marianna; two sons, Robert L. Cooper of Laceys Spring, Ala., and Donald R. Cooper Sr. of Starke; two foster daughters, Bonnie Griffis Padgett and Jannie Griffis Padgett, both of Starke; three sisters, Bessie Cooper Anderson of Lake City, Gladys Cooper Dean of Williston and Colleen Cooper Judah of Chiefland; a brother, Cecil R. Cooper of Durham, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; and 22 great- grandchildren.
Robert Earl Croft
LULU -- Robert Earl Croft, a lifelong resident of Lulu, died Monday at Shands at Lake Shore following an extended illness. He was 76.
Mr. Croft was a farmer. He was a member of the Lulu Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and on the Pulpit Committee.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Delbert Croft.
Survivors include his wife, Naomi Pearce Croft of Lulu; two daughters, Cynthia Eileen Croft-Jackson of Titusville and Rita June Baker of Lulu; four sons, Robin Earl Croft, Robert Craig Croft and Reginald Dean "Buddy" Croft, all of Lulu, and Rufus Ariel Croft of Jonesboro, Ark.; a sister, Guinelle Ryan of Lulu; three brothers, Pete Croft, Al Croft and James Croft, all of Lulu; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Sadie Virginia Dysart
Sadie Virginia Dysart of Gainesville died Sunday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. She was 85.
The New York native moved to Gainesville two years ago.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Linda Dysart of Gainesville; four grandchildren, Denise Polter, Doreen Long, Douglas Dysart and Daniel Dysart; and five great-grandchildren.
Alvin L. Fleming Jr.
Alvin L. Fleming Jr. of Gainesville died Tuesday at Integrated Health Services. He was 71.
Mr. Fleming was born in Cherokee County, Ala., and moved to Gainesville from High Springs in 1973.
He was a member of Mount Horeb Baptist Church.
Survivors include his stepmother, Lillie B. Fleming of High Springs; two sisters, Bernice Willingham of Rome, Ga., and Vera Fleming of Gainesville; and two brothers, Joseph Fleming of High Springs and Greg Fleming of Gainesville.
