Rosa Estelle Kent

Rosa Estelle Kent of Fountain, in the Panhandle, died Tuesday. She was 99.

The former Steinhatchee resident was a Baptist.

She has no local survivors.

Ke'Shana Jenkins

CROSS CITY - Ke'Shana Latrice Jenkins, the 4-month-old daughter of Lakisha Jenkins, died Jan. 18 at Shands at the University of Florida.

In addition to her mother, Ke'Shana is survived by a sister, Nikeyca Tre'Nae Jenkins of Cross City; grandparents Vickie Jenkins, Theola Williams and Ralph Jones Sr., all of Cross City, and Carl Jones of Virginia; and her great-grandmother, Emma Glenn of Old Town.

Shirley Ann Lang

Shirley Ann Lang, a lifelong resident of Gainesville, died Tuesday at Shands at AGH. She was 51.

Mrs. Lang was a Pentecostal and a food service employee at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Scott of Hawthorne; daughters Monica Williams, Erica Scott and Iechia Scott, all of Gainesville; sisters Doris Harris and Gail Lang, both of Gainesville, and Vivian Green of Earleton; brothers Fred Collier and Clarence Lang, both of Gainesville; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Max K. Newell

Max K. Newell, a lifelong resident of Gainesville, died Tuesday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was 54.

Mr. Newell was a sales manager with Jostens and a member of First United Methodist Church of Gainesville. The University of Florida graduate was a member of the Gator Boosters.

Survivors include his wife, Dawn Newell of Gainesville; a son, Michael Newell of Gainesville; his mother, Hazel Newell of Gainesville; and a sister, Joyce Hobson of Stuart.

Devin Louis Pilkington

WALDO - Devin Louis Pilkington died Tuesday at Shands at the University of Florida from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was 9.

Devin was a third-grader at Waldo Community School.

He is survived by his parents, Jason and Angel Marie Bonner of Waldo; a sister, Ariel Ringley of Indiana; a brother, Orion Luc Bonner of Waldo; his maternal grandmother, Virginia Smith of Creedmoore, N.C.; his maternal grandfather, Peter Pilkington of Orlando; and his paternal grandparents, Richard and Karen Lagoe of Waldo.

Joseph J. Adamavage

MORRISTON -- Joseph J. Adamavage of Morriston died in Morriston on Thursday. He was 87.

Mr. Adamavage was born in Shenandoah, Pa., and moved to Morriston from Clearwater in 1983.

He was a retired railroad policeman, businessman and public works supervisor.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Williston and a past vice president of Williston AARP.

Survivors include two daughters, Mignon Craig and JoAnn Rashford, both of Morriston; two sisters, Claire Fey of California and Jean Ford of Morriston; two brothers, Andy Adamavage and Frank Adamavage, both of Ashland, Pa.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Daniel William Brown

HAWTHORNE -- Daniel William Brown died Monday at his residence in Hawthorne. He was 86.

Mr. Brown was born in Georgianna, near Merritt Island, and moved to Hawthorne in 1917.

He was a Methodist and a maintenance mechanic for DuPont. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Opal M. Brown of Hawthorne; a daughter, Cheryl K. Shaw of Fayettesville, Ga.; two sons, Daniel W. Brown Jr. of Earleton and Mark A. Brown of Orange Heights; two brothers, Ralph Brown of Orange Heights and George Brown of Hawthorne; nine grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.

Peter Mann Dukes

LAKE BUTLER -- Peter Mann "P.M." Dukes of Lake Butler died Monday at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lake City following an extended illness. He was 82.

Mr. Dukes was a lifelong resident of Union County.

He was a retired farmer and a member of Harmony Freewill Baptist Church.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He also served in the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Waters Dukes of Lake Butler; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary D. and Stephen M. Parson of Lake City; two sisters, Annie Willis of Alachua and Lula Boyd of Briceville; and two grandchildren, Amy Parsons of Lake City and Kevin M. Parsons, U.S. Navy, Norfolk, Va.

Duane John Dykes

Duane John Dykes died Sunday at his residence in Gainesville. He was 36.

Mr. Dykes was born in Daytona Beach and moved to Gainesville at a young age. He was a Presbyterian and a Realtor with Apartment Express.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Milton Dykes.

Survivors include his wife, Tammy Cline Dykes of Gainesville; two daughters, Monica Dykes and Kara Dykes, both of Gainesville; a son, Dylan Dykes of Gainesville; his mother, Shirley Dykes Harris of Gainesville; three sisters, Debbie Dykes of Pasadena, Calif., and Donna Quintard and Dana Dykes, both of Jacksonville; a brother, Dale Dykes of Gainesville; and his paternal grandmother, Zena Dykes of Orlando.

Robert Lee Freeney Sr.

HIGH SPRINGS -- Robert Lee Freeney Sr., a lifelong resident of High Springs, died Friday at Palm Garden following an extended illness. He was 72.

Mr. Freeney was a retired sanitation worker with the city of High Springs.

He was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Bettye Ruth Freeney of High Springs; two daughters, Elizabeth Rheaneese Freeney-Nixon of Clarksville, Tenn., and Valerie Denise Herron of Sherwood, Ark.; a stepdaughter, Linda D. Leeks of Rivera Beach; two sons, Robert Lee Freeney Jr. and Wayne Lamar Freeney, both of High Springs; a stepson, Larry James of Vero Beach; a sister, Nicy Mae James of Fort White; a brother, Earl Freeney of Fort White; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Frances M. Fowler

Frances M. Fowler of Gainesville died Tuesday in Gainesville. She was 73.

Mrs. Fowler was born in Okeechobee and moved to Gainesville in 1960.

She was a homemaker.

She loved the outdoors.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Fowler Sr. of Gainesville; a daughter; seven sons; three brothers; 16 grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.

Edna B. Hobbs

MELROSE -- Edna B. Hobbs of Melrose died Monday in Gainesville. She was 72.

Mrs. Hobbs was born in Wilcox and moved to Melrose from Windsor 20 years ago.

She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Hobbs.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jesse and Mary Hobbs of Melrose; four sisters, Vessie Mills of Cross City, Lucille Nasworthy of Plant City, Rosa Lee Haff of Dundee, N.Y., and Grace LeBlanc of Houma, La.; a brother, Robert J. Talley of Gainesville; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Lois A. Huff

Lois A. Huff of Gainesville died Saturday in Gainesville. She was 53.

Mrs. Huff was born in Sandusky, Ohio, and moved to Gainesville in 1988.

She was a Protestant and a respiratory therapist with the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Survivors include her husband, Henry P. Huff of Gainesville; three daughters, Sonja Hull of Bellview, Ohio, Toni Litwin of Memphis and Kim Leone of Clearwater; five sisters, Marge Jesberger of Fort Myers, Ruth Knupke of Huron, Ohio, Gladys Merrick of Ocala, Mable Gilbert of Sandusky and Mary L. Cheek of San Diego; three brothers, Raymond Berkey of Luthersburg, Pa., Edward Berkey of Sandusky and Bob Berkey of Mount Vernon, Ohio; and four grandchildren.

Carmon Knight

LIVE OAK -- Carmon Knight of Live Oak died Monday at Surrey Place in Live Oak following an extended illness. She was 90.

The Suwannee County native was a homemaker and member of Mount Olive Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, R.A. Knight of Live Oak; a daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Walter Howell of Live Oak; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Wayne and Gretchen Knight of St. Marys, Ga.; a sister, Myrtie Clark of Live Oak; five grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
