James M. Land Jr.
STARKE - James M. Land Jr. died Friday in Shands at Starke following an extended illness. He was 82.
Mr. Land was born in Columbus, Ga., and moved to Starke 25 years ago from Jacksonville. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was a food broker and served as an elder in Primitive Baptist churches for about 50 years.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Land of Starke; one daughter, Sue Sharpe of Atlanta; one stepdaughter, Jennell Dyal of Starke; one sister, Frances Dewitt of Camilla, Ga.; and two grandchildren.

Maria Fernanda Palmi
Maria Fernanda Palmi died Friday in her home. She was 13.
Miss Palmi was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and moved to Gainesville from Maturin, Venezuela, three years ago. She was a student at Gainesville High School who loved music. She was a Catholic.
Survivors include her mother, Nina Elena Palmi of Gainesville; a brother, Juan Carlos Palmi; and grandparents Jose and Pura Palmi and Nina Elena Estes.

Nathan O'berry Reeves
WELLBORN - Nathan O'berry Reeves died Saturday in his home following a long illness. He was 79.
Mr. Reeves was born in Bug Hill, N.C., and moved to Wellborn in 1965 from Charleston, S.C. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War and worked as a submarine builder at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was a Mason in Fidelity Lodge 304 in Charleston and was a member, past deacon and chairman of Fellowship Baptist Church in Wellborn.
Mr. Reeves was preceded in death by a son, Charles O'berry Reeves.
Survivors include his wife, Prue Reeves of Wellborn; three sons, James Larry Reeves and Danny William Reeves, both of Ellisville, and James William Reeves of Wellborn; two daughters, Linda Gray Reeves of Lake City and Shirley Ann Lang of Lake City; one brother, Vernon Reeves of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Kellam Lagarther of Arlington, Va., and Annie Lee Worthington of Whiteville, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Margaret F. Williams
STARKE - Margaret F. Williams died Friday in her home. She was 62.
Mrs. Williams was born in Trenton and moved to Starke seven years ago from Chiefland. She owned Margaret's Beauty Shop in Chiefland.
Survivors include her husband, Glyndon Williams of Starke; one son, William E. Fletcher of Starke; two brothers, Thomas F. Adair of Tallahassee and Jimmie Adair of Denver; one sister, Juanita Lee of Ocala; and one granddaughter.

Frank Batie
Frank Batie of Gainesville died Saturday after a brief illness. He was 71.
Mr. Batie was born in Micanopy and moved to Gainesville in 1951.
He was a concrete finisher and an Army veteran during the Korean conflict.
He was a member of Second Bethel Baptist Church, American Legion Post No. 306 and the International Bricklayers Union Local No. 1.
Survivors include his wife, Johnnie M. Batie of Gainesville; a son, Frankie J. Batie of Gainesville; two daughters, Carrie B. Woody and Shawnna C. Batie, both of Gainesville; a brother, Fred Batie Sr. of Gainesville; two sisters, Oneida Batie of Archer and Marjorie Howard of St. Augustine; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great- great-grandchildren.
Donald Wayne Dudley
Donald Wayne Dudley of Gainesville died Monday at Shands at AGH. He was 52.
Mr. Dudley was born in Sanford and moved to Gainesville from Longwood in 1959.
He was a Baptist. He was a resident of Tacachale. He had worked at Signs Unlimited.
Survivors include his mother, Estelle Dudley of Lake Mary; and four sisters, Robin Jones of Lake Mary, Audrey Sutphin and Sharyn Wilson, both of Port St. John, and Barbara Coleman of Phoenix City, Ala.
Caul Porter Carlisle
TRENTON - Caul Porter Carlisle of Trenton died Wednesday at his residence. He was 63.
Mr. Carlisle was a lifelong resident of Trenton. He was a carpenter and farmer, and a member of Center Hill Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Doris Carlisle, and a brother, Herman Carlisle.
Survivors include his wife, Henrietta Carlisle of Trenton; a daughter, Cindy Arrington of Chiefland; two sons, Andy Carlisle of Old Town and Calvin Carlisle of Trenton; two brothers, Alvin "Buddy" Carlisle and Kenny Carlisle, both of Trenton; and four sisters, Dauphene Langford, Marilyn Bruce and Vanessa Beach, all of Trenton, and Nancy Winkler of Palatka; four grandsons; two granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter.
Nancy E. Manning
BRONSON - Nancy E. Manning of Bronson died Tuesday in Bronson. She was 56.
Ms. Manning moved to Bronson from Gainesville in 1984. She was a retired supply clerk for the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She served in the Army during the Vietnam War. She was Methodist.
Survivors include four sisters, Victoria Johnson of Bronson, Ann Wilson and Sue Shannon, both of Houston, and Lyn Kirkland of Kissimmee.
Percy McGehee
Percy McGehee of Newberry died Thursday at Park's Place Assisted Living Facility.
He was 92.
Mr. McGehee was born in Clay County, Ala., and has lived in Newberry for 78 years. He was a farmer and a member of the Alachua County Farm Bureau. He was an active member of the First United Church of Newberry and was in the choir for 45 years.
Survivors include his caregivers, who are his nephew and his nephew's wife, Clarence and Darlene McGehee of Newberry; a daughter and son-in-law, Jo Ann and Turk Thomas of High Springs; a brother, W.C. McGehee of DeLand; two sisters, Elizabeth Sullivan of Camilla, Ga., and Evelyn Etheridge of Chiefland; three grandchildren, Debbie Means, Glenna Petty and Jimmy Thomas, all of High Springs; three great-granddaughters; and many nephews and nieces.
Alma Daymon Merricks
ARCHER - Alma Daymon Merricks of Archer died Monday of natural causes at her residence. She was 83.
Ms. Merricks was born in Columbia County and moved to Archer from Daytona Beach 15 years ago. She was named a national mother of the Church of God by Faith, and she was a member for 69 years.
She was the first of 14 children born to Elder John Henry and Georgia Perkins Reid.
Survivors include seven children, Geraldine Henderson and Willie Daymon, both of Rochester, N.Y., Myrtle Coombs and Lynda Daymon, both of Archer, Flora Lane and Alfred Daymon, both of Ocala, and Arthur Daymon of Daytona Beach; four sisters, Florida Jackson, Georgia McKnight, Mildred Postell and Wilma Reid-Camps; four brothers, Earl Reid, Leroy Reid, Franklin Reid and Willard Reid; her extended children, Earl Jefferson, Willie Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson and LaTanya Jefferson; 29 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
Homer B. Sikes Jr.
GRANDIN - Homer B. Sikes Jr. of Grandin died Wednesday at Big Bend Hospice House in Tallahassee. He was 84.
Mr. Sikes was born in Edgar and moved to Grandin from Griffin, Ga., 40 years ago.
He was a former employee of Williams-Thomas Funeral Home and a retired J.C. Penney's manager. He was a deacon at Paran Baptist Church in Grandin.
He was also a member of the Melrose Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite of Ocala, the Yorkrite of Gainesville, the Morocco Temple in Jacksonville and the Order of the Eastern Star in Keystone Heights. He was past president of Rotary International.
Mr. Sikes graduated from Emory University in Atlanta.
Survivors include a daughter, Anne Sikes Loadholtz of Tallahassee; a son, Charles A. Sikes of Rockledge; a grandchild and a great-grandchild.
Foy Quinton Buchanan
PERRY -- Foy Quinton Buchanan of Perry died Saturday in Perry. He was 86.
Mr. Buchanan was born in Lafayette County and had lived in Taylor County for 35 years. He was a retired farmer and owner of a used furniture store, and a member of the Masonic lodge in Mayo.
His survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Bobby Lee Wetherington
KEYSTONE HEIGHTS -- Bobby Lee Wetherington of Keystone Heights died Saturday in his home following a long illness. He was 70.
Mr. Wetherington was born in Valdosta, Ga., and moved to Keystone Heights in 1984 from West Palm Beach. He was a retired tile setter and car salesman and a member of the Keystone Heights Golf and Country Club. He was a Methodist.
Survivors include his wife, Gertrude A. Wetherington; two daughters, Sherry Smalling of Jacksonville and Terri Lynn Bowsky of Leesburg; two sons, Gary Sheotes of West Palm Beach and Bob Lippitt of Leesburg; a sister, Doris Blount of Tallahassee; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Edna C. Reaves Hutchinson
INTERLACHEN - Edna C. Reaves Hutchinson of Interlachen died Wednesday in California. She was 83.
Born in Worthington Springs, Mrs. Reaves became a member of the First United Methodist Church of Worthington Springs where her family is commemorated in the building's stained glass windows.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earley Hutchinson.
Survivors include her daughters, Mina Lee Dukes Raulerson of Valrico and Mary Ann Dukes Zorn of Santee, Calif.; a son, "Sonny" Dukes of Jacksonville; stepchildren Charles "Woody" Hutchinson, Louise Thornal and Josephine Labadie, all of Jacksonville, and Franklin Hutchinson of St. Augustine.
