Phyllis Marie Woodward

BRONSON - Phyllis Marie Woodward died Thursday at Shands at AGH. She was 75.

Mrs. Woodward was born and raised in Miami and moved to Bronson in 1974.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bronson. She was active in the Levy County Sheriff's VOICE Program. She was a past president of the Levy County Humane Society and a former Cub Scouts leader in Miami.

She enjoyed horseback riding and crafts.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Shores of Bronson; sons Frank and Larry Woodward, both of Bronson; a brother, Charles Pierce of Dunnellon; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Nathaniel Anderson

Nathaniel "Jimbo" Anderson of Gainesville died Wednesday at his sister's home in Gainesville following a brief illness. He was 76.

Mr. Anderson was born in Gainesville and lived in Miami before returning to Gainesville in the early 1970s. He was a retired custodian with Santa Fe Community College and a U.S. Navy World War II veteran.

He is survived by sisters, Catherine Wilcox and Lillie Mae Williams of Gainesville.

Jesse Campbell Sr.

EDGAR -- Jesse Campbell Sr., a lifelong resident of Edgar, died Monday at his daughter's home in Miami. He was 91.

Mr. Campbell was a retired truck driver and a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Leola Campbell of Edgar; daughters, Annie M. Truesdale, Willie M. Simms, Zola M. Sylvester and Doretha Sylvester, all of Edgar, Beulah Williams of Miami, Lee Frances Eagle of Gainesville and Sarah Lee Futch of Savannah, Ga.; sons, Jesse Campbell Jr. of Jacksonville, Henry J. Campbell of San Mateo, Johnnie L. Campbell and Dennis L. Campbell, both of Edgar, and Willie L. Sylvester of Palatka; 35 grandchildren, 14 step-grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren.

John F. Duncan

MICANOPY -- John F. "Major" Duncan died Wednesday at Shands at AGH following an extended illness. He was 88.

Mr. Duncan was born in Madison County and moved to Micanopy from Ojus in 1978.

He was a retired heavy-equipment and diesel mechanic. He enjoyed fishing and farming.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Elnora Jenkins Duncan.

Survivors include a son, Stuart Duncan of Hollywood; daughters, Frances Ready Gersten of Biscayne Park, Geraldine Ellis of Hernando, Lucile Roberts of Hollywood, Edwina "Wendy" Wesockes of Micanopy; and nine grandchildren.

Carolyn Lynch

BRANFORD -- Carolyn Lynch died Thursday at National Health Care of Lake City following a brief illness. She was 95.

A native of Georgia, Mrs. Lynch moved to Branford at a young age.

She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Branford.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest E. Lynch Sr.; and a son, Ernest E. Lynch Jr.

Survivors include a daughter, Lucille Lacquey of Branford; sons, Howard Earl Lynch of San Diego and John F. and Richard C. Lynch, both of Branford; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Kathleen Q. Moore

Kathleen Q. Moore of Gainesville died Tuesday at Shands at the University of Florida. She was 66.

Mrs. Moore was born in Boston and moved to Gainesville 20 years ago.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by a brother, Edward Quigley of Brewster, Mass.

Martha Ann Marimee

Martha Ann Marimee of Paducah, Ky., died Monday in Louisville, Ky. She was 71.

The former Gainesville resident was a nurse.

She has no local survivors.

Betty Jean Peterson

Betty Jean Peterson of Gainesville died Wednesday. She was 77.

Mrs. Peterson retired from the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences at the University of Florida.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Gainesville for more than 40 years.

Survivors include a son, Rick Elkins of Alachua; a daughter, Connie Cornelius of Ocala; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Wilford Hutchinson Sr.

Wilford Hutchinson Sr. of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., died Sept. 12 in New York. He was 77.

The Hawthorne native was a retired construction worker.

He is survived by his wife, Mellinne L. Hutchinson of Poughkeepsie. Local survivors include a son, Wilford Hutchinson Jr. of Gainesville; and a brother, Allen James Hutchinson of Hawthorne.

Earline Davis-Judge

Earline Lee Davis-Judge of Gainesville died Saturday at her son's home in Gainesville. She was 53.

The Newberry native lived in Gainesville before moving to Buford, S.C. She returned to Gainesville in February.

She worked as hotel supervisor and was a member of Zura Full Gospel Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 17 years, James Judge of Gainesville; sons, Earl Davis Jr. and Gregory Davis, both of Gainesville; her stepmother, Inet Lee of Newberry; sisters, Gwendolyn Larkin, Valeria Blair and Margaret King, all of Newberry; and a grandchild.

Helen H. Terrell

HAWTHORNE -- Helen H. Terrell died Tuesday in Hawthorne. She was 88.

Mrs. Terrell was born in Quincy and moved to Hawthorne 59 years ago.

She was a homemaker and a member of New Hope United Methodist Church, where she served as a communion stewardess and an usher.

Survivors include a son, Frank Terrell of Gainesville; brothers, John Scott and William Houston, both of Quincy, and Henry Houston of Seaside, Calif.; two sisters, Nettie Graham of Opa-Locka and Sallie Mae Williams of Quincy; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Dale Michael Matthews

Dale Michael Matthews of Orlando died Tuesday in Orlando. He was 41.

Mr. Matthews was a security guard and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

Local survivors include a brother, Gary Paul Matthews of Gainesville.

Walter Tomlinson

STARKE -- Walter Tomlinson, a lifelong resident of Starke, died Thursday at Shands at Jacksonville following a brief illness. He was 70.

Mr. Tomlinson was a retired supervisor with the Department of Military Affairs at Camp Blanding and a member of the First Christian Church, the Loyal Order of the Moose and the American Legion. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Tomlinson; and his companion, Peggy Owens.

Survivors include brothers, Leroy Tomlinson of Callahan, and Winfred and Ronald Tomlinson, both of Starke; sisters, Margaret Williams of Starke and Martell Jackson of Orange Park.
