Catherine Genora Douglas

LAKE BUTLER -- Catherine Genora Douglas died Sunday at her residence in Lake Butler. She was 87.

Mrs. Douglas was born in Columbia County and lived in Lake Butler for most of her life.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Providence Village Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ressie John Douglas.

Survivors include two sons, Frank Douglas and MacArthur Douglas, both of Lake Butler; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Susan Wood Reger

Susan Wood Reger of Gainesville died of cancer Monday at Hospice of North Central Florida. She was 41.

The South Carolina native moved to Gainesville in 1993.

She was a school volunteer.

She enjoyed gardening and golfing.

Survivors include her husband, John Reger of Gainesville; a daughter, Emily Wood of Gainesville; a son, John Lawton of Gainesville; her parents, Norman and Francis Wood of Gainesville; and three brothers, Steve Wood and Norman Wood, both of Asheville, N.C., and David Wood of Estill, S.C.

Edna Ellen Snider

Edna Ellen Snider, a longtime resident of Ocala, died Monday at Munroe Regional Medical Center. She was 81.

Mrs. Snider was a homemaker and an Episcopalian.

Survivors include her husband, Vincent E. Snider of Ocala; a daughter, Marilyn Sue Hennessy of Gainesville; a son, Vincent E. Snider Jr. of Lutz; three sisters; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Victor C. Yellen

Victor C. Yellen of Gainesville died Monday at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center following a brief illness. He was 82.

Mr. Yellen was born in Perth Amboy, N.J., and moved to Gainesville from Columbus, Ga., in 1984.

He was retired from U.S. government civil service. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. He retired after 30 years of service.

He was a member of Holy Faith Catholic Church. He also attended Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

Mr. Yellen was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Marie Yellen.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Victor Yellen and Arlene Huszar of Gainesville; and a granddaughter, Mariette Yellen of Gainesville.

Catherine Elizabeth Crago

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS - Catherine Elizabeth Crago died Friday at Palm Garden of Gainesville. She was 95.

Mrs. Crago was born in Duluth, Minn., and moved to Keystone Heights in 1967.

She worked for St. Louis County and the city of Duluth in administrative functions. She was a member of Melrose United Methodist Church. She attended Stetson University.

Mrs. Crago was preceded in death by her husband, George Crago; two brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include a son, Ward Crago of Gainesville; a daughter, Marcia McKim of Suisun City, Calif.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Florence Moni Crum

NEWBERRY - Florence Moni Crum died Friday at the Hospice Care Center. She was 84.

Mrs. Crum was born in Juneau, Pa., and moved to Newberry from Miami in 1977.

She was a homemaker and a Lutheran. She went to nursing school in New York and joined the U.S. Army Nurse Corps in 1943 as a flight nurse. During World War II, she was based at Orly Field in Paris, where she met her husband on D-Day. She was a member of the Garden Club of Newberry for 15 years.

Survivors include her husband, Carl Anderson Crum of Newberry; a daughter, Cathleen Ann Crum of Alachua; sons Carl Kevin Crum of Gainesville and Ronald Anthony Crum of Maryland; brothers Armand Moni of Orlando and William Moni of Miami; and two grandchildren.

Sarah Simms McKinley

Sarah Simms McKinley died at her home on Thursday. She was 76.

A native of Talladega, Ala., Mrs. McKinley moved to Gainesville in 1967. She was a graduate of the University of Alabama and was active in the Junior League in Gainesville and Orlando, where she previously lived for 20 years.

Mrs. McKinley was a founding member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority at the University of Florida and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville.

Survivors include her husband, Paul McKinley of Gainesville; daughters Catherine Thompson of Orlando and Anne Shirley of Maitland; sons James Trapp of Gainesville, Mark McKinley of Merritt Island and Scott McKinley of Crystal River; a brother, Brittain Simms of Orlando; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Maronell Pearson Parker

Maronell "Nell" Pearson Parker of Gainesville died Friday at the Hospice House of Gainesville. She was 72.

Mrs. Parker was born in Cross City and moved to Gainesville from Fernandina Beach in 1965.

She worked at the University of Florida Student Traffic Court and was an avid Gator fan. She enjoyed bowling and playing Scrabble.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl A. Parker Jr.

Survivors include daughters Janis Smith and Marsha Harben, both of Gainesville; a brother, Fred Pearson of Gainesville; and two grandchildren.

Richard Eric Wood

GLEN ST. MARY - Richard Eric Wood died Thursday after an automobile accident in Lake Butler. He was 33.

Mr. Wood was born in Hialeah and moved to Glen St. Mary from Hinesville, Ga., in 1998.

He was a sergeant with the Baker Correction Institution. He was a member of the New River New Congregational Methodist Church and the Moose Lodge in Macclenny.

Survivors include his wife, Robin Rosier Wood of Glen St. Mary; a son, Eric Scott Wood of Glen St. Mary; his parents, Al and Wynde Wood of Ludowici, Ga.; brothers Thomas Wood of Waycross, Ga., Buddy Wood of Hinesville and Mark Wood of Daleville, Ala.; and his maternal grandmother, Alene Dewees of Lake Butler.

August Zimmermann

FORT McCOY - August "Jerry" Zimmermann died Thursday at his residence. He was 58.

Mr. Zimmermann was born in Cleveland and moved to Fort McCoy from North Madison, Ohio, in 1977.

He worked for General Electric in Gainesville. He was a Lutheran, and he loved the outdoors.

Survivors include a son, Scott Zimmermann of Gainesville; daughters Patricia and Heidi Mosher, both of Bronson; a brother, Rick Merrick Zimmermann of Escondito, Calif.; a sister, Audrey Hedrick of Waldo; six grandchildren; and his former wife, Rusty McCormack of Gainesville.

Arrangements by National Cremation Society.

Ray Thomas Lake

WALDO - Ray Thomas Lake of Waldo died Wednesday at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was 80.

Mr. Lake was born in Mineral Wells, Texas, and moved to Waldo from Homestead in 1993. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean War, retiring at the rank of colonel.

He was a Baptist.

Survivors include two sisters, Doris Williams and Louis Pesters, both of Midland, Texas.

Milam Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mattie Louise Murray

MAYO - Mattie Louise Murray of Mayo died Thursday in Gainesville. She was 74.

A native of Luraville, Mrs. Murray lived in Mayo most of her life. She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Charles Roscoe Murray; two sons, Charles Larry Murray of Mayo and Robert Wayne Murray of Newberry; two daughters, Linda Latrell Murray Owens of Drayton, S.C., and Amedra "Amy" Carver of Mayo; two brothers, David Clark of Largo and Bill Clark of Clearwater; two sisters, Ila "Marie" Flemming of Mayo and Mary Frances Vitello of Staten Island, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Joe P. Burns Funeral Home in Mayo is in charge of arrangements.
