Ruth Theresa Dunn

HIGH SPRINGS -- Ruth Theresa Dunn of High Springs died Tuesday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. She was 75.

Mrs. Dunn was born in Elizabeth, N.J., and moved to High Springs from Fort Lauderdale in 1982.

She was a homemaker and a member of Faith Christian Fellowship Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Peter Patrick Dunn.

Survivors include three sons, Peter H. Dunn of Branford, James G. Dunn of Lake City and Robert J. Dunn of Fort White; two grandsons; and a great-grandson.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to the building fund of the Faith Christian Fellowship in High Springs.

Nellie W. Gill

NEWBERRY -- Nellie W. Gill of Newberry died at her home Monday. She was 74.

Mrs. Gill was born in Central, Ala., and moved to Newberry in 1963.

She was a newspaper carrier for The Gainesville Sun.

She was a member of the First Christian Church and a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Mrs. Gill was preceded in death by her husband, Jim S. Gill Sr.; and a son, Daniel Gill.

Survivors include three daughters, Teresa Watson of Williston, Myra Gill of Newberry and Cynthia Steptoe of Gainesville; three sons, Jim S. Gill Jr. of Oceanside, Calif., Johnny P. Gill of Allentown, Pa., and Douglas Gill of Lake Helen; a sister, Betty Allen of Davidson, Ala.; a brother, Douglas Whitehead of Fort McCoy; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Darvin V. Hall Sr.

CROSS CITY -- Darvin V. Hall Sr., a lifelong resident of Cross City, died Sunday at Cross City Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness. He was 76.

Mr. Hall worked at the Georgia Pacific lumber plant in Cross City.

He was of the Holiness faith.

Survivors include four daughters, Mattie Williams and Ruthie Taylor, both of Gainesville, Jackie Richardson of Bronson and Carol Hall of Atlanta; five sons, Eddie Taylor, Calvin Taylor and Charles Hall, all of Gainesville, and Darvin Hall Jr. and Larry Hall, both of Cross City; a sister, Perry Lee Williams of California; 21 grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren.

Willie Henry Hogan

TRENTON -- Willie Henry Hogan, a lifelong resident of Trenton, died at his home following a lingering illness. He was 43.

Captain Hogan was a corrections officer with the Lancaster Correctional Institution, where he worked for more than 20 years.

He graduated from Trenton High School in 1975 and later attended Florida State University.

He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Shatonia Hogan Reese of Sumter, S.C., Lakedra Pitner of Tennessee and Tara Hogan of Ohio; his mother, Lorene Davis-Hogan of Trenton; four sisters, Sharon Thomas, Connie Baker, Pansy Gordon and Emma Hogan, all of Gainesville; three brothers, Benjamin Hogan of Orlando, Eric Hogan of Trenton and Carlyle R. Hogan of St. Petersburg; his grandmother, Susie Gray of Trenton; and three grandchildren.

Alma Gamble LeMar

Alma Gamble LeMar of Gainesville died Nov. 30 at Sunbridge of Gainesville. She was 95.

Mrs. LeMar was born in Madison and moved to Gainesville in 1923.

She was a homemaker and a member of Springhill Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther James LeMar; and her parents, Willie and Susie Copeland.

Survivors include two daughters, Edna Lee Colson Graham of Gainesville and Margaret LeMar Brown of Atlantic Beach; a son, Willie Gamble of Gainesville; a stepdaughter, Laura Simmons of Gainesville; a sister-in-law, Ruthie M. Grimes of Gainesville; a brother-in-law, Chandler LeMar of Gainesville; 22 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 33 great-great- grandchildren.

Joseph Joel Lane

HAWTHORNE -- Joseph Joel Lane of Hawthorne died Sunday at the Alachua Nursing Center in Gainesville following an extended illness. He was 55.

Mr. Lane was born in Detroit and moved to Hawthorne from Bradenton 11 months ago.

He was a retired insurance agent and a Catholic.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Lane was a former member of the Elks in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Survivors include a cousin and his wife, Lawrence and Selina Jablonski of Hawthorne; and their children, Eric Jablonski, Patty Jablonski and Michael Jablonski, all of Hawthorne.

Yvonne Taylor London

Yvonne Taylor London died Nov. 29 at her residence in Gainesville following a brief illness. She was 49.

Mrs. London was born in East Reddick and moved to Gainesville 27 years ago.

She was a dental assistant at Tacachale.

She was a member of Debose Chapel United Methodist Church.

Mrs. London attended Santa Fe Community College.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Leverett and Dexter Leverett, both of Tampa; a daughter, Vanessa Mitchum of Gainesville; a stepson, Leroy Street of Douglas, Ga.; two stepdaughters, Mauline Canady of Washington, D.C., and Angela London of Jacksonville; her father, David Taylor of Citra; two sisters, Roberta Baker and Bonnie Taylor, both of Gainesville; a brother, Theodore Taylor of Gainesville; and 11 grandchildren.

Leslie E. Moore

LAKE GENEVA -- Leslie E. Moore of Lake Geneva died Tuesday at Shands at AGH following a brief illness. He was 80.

Mr. Moore was born in Geneva, N.Y., and moved to Lake Geneva from Sanford in 1983.

He was a retired welder with Pan American World Airways and a member of Community Church.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and participated in the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Teamsters Union.

Survivors include his wife, Monica M. Moore of Lake Geneva; two sons, Leslie C. Moore of Keystone Heights and Terry A. Moore of Jacksonville; and three grandchildren.

Maude Harshbarger Sellers

MELROSE -- Maude Harshbarger Sellers of Melrose died Tuesday at Shands at Starke following a brief illness. She was 87.

Mrs. Sellers was born in Pleasanton, Texas, and moved to Melrose from Interlachen in 1996.

She was a retired secretary with a lumber company.

She was a Baptist.

Mrs. Sellers was active in the Putnam County Humane Society.

Survivors include two sisters, Ayleen H. Smith of Melrose and Martha H. Tipton of Gainesville.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to the Putnam County Humane Society.

John Norman Sirk

John Norman Sirk of Gainesville died Tuesday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was 78.

Mr. Sirk was born in Charleston, W.Va., and moved to Gainesville from Lexington, Ky., three years ago.

He was an architectural designer with the store planning division of Burdines.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Wendy J. Holt of Gainesville; two stepsons, Ronald L. Sanders and Robert G. Sanders, both of Lexington, Ky.; two grandchildren; and a step-grandchild.

Felton Showers

ALACHUA -- Felton Showers of Alachua died Nov. 30 at his home following a brief illness. He was 78.

Mr. Showers was born in Hague and moved to Alachua from Tampa in 1971.

He was a retired longshoreman and a member of New Grove Baptist Church in Branford.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mr. Showers was preceded in death by a daughter, Essie B. Showers Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Mamie Lee Lillie Showers of Alachua; a son, Charles Felton Showers of Gainesville; three daughters, Gloria M. Miller, Grace Garrison and Lilia Coe, all of Gainesville; three sisters, Queen Watson and Annie M. Spann of Gainesville and Daisy Dasher of Brooker; two brothers, Robert Showers of Brooker and Watson Showers of Connecticut; 19 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and three great-great-great-grandchildren.

Paul Judson Tew

Paul Judson Tew of Buncobe County, N.C., died Tuesday following an extended illness. He was 84.

Mr. Tew was born in Greenville, Miss., and lived in Gainesville before moving to Buncobe County in 1966.

He was architectural draftsman and designer for 50 years.

He was member of the First Baptist Church of Gainesville.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Helen Andreu Tew; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Frank Young of Gainesville; and two grandchildren, Stephen Young and Jennifer Young, both of Gainesville.
