Robert Aaron Driggers

LAKE BUTLER -- Robert Aaron Driggers, a lifelong resident of Lake Butler, died at his residence Monday following an extended illness. He was 80.

Mr. Driggers served as the Union County Clerk of the Court for 28 years. He also served as president of the Florida Clerk's Association and a member of the Governor's Council on Criminal Justice.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lake Butler.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Marjorie McGill Driggers of Lake Butler; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sara and John Lewis of Pensacola Beach and Shirley and Clifford Dance Jr. of Winona, Miss.; a son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Janet Driggers of Madison, Ala.; a brother and sister-in-law, Clayborne H. and Irene Driggers of Lake Butler; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Paul Driver

DAY -- Paul Driver of Day died Tuesday after a brief illness. He was 60.

Mr. Driver was a Day native, a farmer and a member of Pine Level Baptist Church in Live Oak.

Survivors include his wife, Glynda Driver of Day; three daughters, Renee Driver of Day and Tammy Sapp and Lisa Davis, both of Live Oak; two sisters, Margie Hunter of Perry and Virginia Johnson of Day; three brothers, Louis Driver, Charles Driver and Carl Driver, all of Day; and grandchildren Kailey and Brandon Sapp of Live Oak.

Ann B. Drucker

Ann B. Drucker of Gainesville died Saturday at North Florida Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. She was 81.

Mrs. Drucker was born in Yonkers, N.Y., and moved to Gainesville from Champaign-Urbana, Ill., 16 years ago.

She was a social worker and a member of B'Nai Israel.

She was a member of Founders Circle of the Gainesville Garden Club.

Survivors include her husband, Daniel C. Drucker of Gainesville; a daughter, Mady Upham of Rockport, Maine; a son, R. David Drucker of Utica, N.Y.; a sister, Lynn Schechner of Los Angeles; and many grandchildren.

Louis Hayes Jr.

LAKE BUTLER -- Louis Hayes Jr. of Lake Butler died Monday at Shands at AGH. He was 67.

Mr. Hayes was born in Gordon, Ala., and moved to Lake Butler from Jasper in 1958.

He was a retired janitor.

Survivors include his companion, Richmond Jonas of Lake Butler; and a sister, Lillie B. Powell of Jasper.

Dorothy Olson Hurd

Dorothy Olson Hurd of Covington, Ky., died Dec. 27 in Covington. She was 90.

Mrs. Hurd was an executive secretary at the University of Florida Law School for 15 years until she retired in 1973.

Local survivors include a son, Russell W. Hurd of Gainesville.

Janet Thornton Gay Johnson

Janet Thornton Gay Johnson of Gotha died Monday. She was 88.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Columbia, S.C., and moved to Central Florida in 1930. She graduated from Clay County High School in 1931. She was a retired U.S. postal clerk with the Gotha post office in Orange County, and she also worked at the University of Florida in the alumni office from 1943 until 1957.

Survivors include her son, Joseph W. Hood of Gotha; three sisters, Ann Bussard, Inez Geiger and Faye Barton, all of Gainesville; a grandson; and three great-grandchildren.

Evelyn Rena Luban

MELROSE -- Evelyn Rena Luban of Melrose died Tuesday in Shands at AGH. She was 78.

Mrs. Luban was born in Auburndale and moved to Melrose from Jacksonville 22 years ago. She was a homemaker, a member of the Homemakers Club of Melrose and of Faith Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her husband, George Luban of Melrose; a son, Dennis Dale Luban of Palm Beach Gardens; a brother, Edwin Dale Perry of Jacksonville and two grandsons.

Eloise Bouvier McRae

Eloise Bouvier McRae of Ocala died Tuesday at Harborside Healthcare Center. She was 101.

Mrs. McRae moved to McIntosh after living in Jacksonville at the time of World War I. In 1967, she moved to Ocala.

She was a member of McIntosh Presbyterian Church and was district chairman of the Suwannee Presbytery Women of the Church. She was a Worthy Matron in the McIntosh chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include four daughters, Betty Hamrick of Bradenton, Cecile Hooks of Atlanta, Patricia Powers of Longwood and Eleanor Hummert of Orlando; two sons, Angus Andre McRae and Richard W. McRae, both of Ocala; 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Ewell Stonewall Neal Sr.

WILLISTON -- Ewell Stonewall Neal Sr., a lifelong resident of Williston, died Monday in Gainesville. He was 90.

Mr. Neal was a mechanic employed by the Alachua County School Board and a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Williston.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Virgie M. Neal of Williston; three daughters, Janette Boudreau, Mary E. Parmerlee and Virginia Mauldin, all of Williston; two sons, Ewell S. Neal Jr. and James A. Neal, both of Williston; a sister, Dessie Cannon of Dunnellon; and five grandchildren.

George Ralph Vitatoe

George Ralph Vitatoe of Gainesville died Tuesday in Gainesville. He was 76.

Mr. Vitatoe was born in Fort McClellan, Ala., and moved to Gainesville from Miami Springs in 1985.

He was an analyst for Eastern Airlines.

He was a member of First Baptist Church.

Mr. Vitatoe served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Adda Loris "Pitsy" Vitatoe of Gainesville; a daughter, Barbara L. Vitatoe Shelow of Deerfield Beach; two stepsons, Clifford A. Jaco and Burton T. Jaco, both of Pueblo, Colo.; a sister, E. Mildred Mills of Macon, Ga.; and five grandchildren.

Kathleen "Kay" Carole Winkel

TRENTON -- Kathleen "Kay" Carole Winkel of Trenton died Monday at her home. She was 77.

Mrs. Winkel was born in Jersey City, N.J. She moved to Gainesville from Long Island, N.Y., in 1975. She was an executive secretary at Viking Marine Electric Corp. She also was a co-vendor of the Waldo Flea Market with her husband.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henning Winkel Sr., in 1988.

Survivors include five daughters, Elizabeth Cheney of Patterson, N.Y., Kathleen White of Lindenhurst, N.Y., Julia Winkel and Alice Baud, both of Gainesville, and Claudea Zimmerman of Chiefland; three sons, William Winkel of St. Augustine, Henning Winkel of Trenton and Peder Winkel of Newberry; 18 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to the Hospice of North Central Florida in memory of Henning and Kathleen Winkel.

Doyle Collins

MELROSE -- Doyle Collins died Saturday at his residence. He was 73.

Mr. Collins was born in White Springs and moved to Melrose from Lake City 25 years ago. He was a cottage parent at Sunland Training Center, now Tacachale.

Survivors include his wife, Edna R. Collins of Melrose; a son, Jerry Alford of Fort White; brothers George and Frank Collins, both of Lake City; and sisters Ruth Kemp and Helen Norwood, both of White Springs.

Buis M. Jonas

BRANFORD -- Buis M. Jonas died Saturday at his residence following an extended illness. He was 92.

Mr. Jonas was born in Gulf Hammock and moved to Branford from Palmetto many years ago. He owned and operated Jonas Survey Stakes in Hildreth. He was a member of Burlington Santa Fe Church of Christ in Hildreth.

Survivors include daughters Gloria Wilkerson of Orlando, Aletha Jonas of Leesburg, Alice Jonas of Branford and Glenda Sanford of Eagle Lake; sons Eldon Jonas of Fort Mojave, Ariz., Lee Jonas of Marco Island and Larry Jonas of Valdosta, Ga.; sisters Elva Ordway of Zephyrhills, Edna Courter of Steinhatchee and Onie Lee Sellers of Lawrenceville, Ga.; a brother, Gene Jonas of Pontiac, Mich.; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Robert J. Killeen

Robert J. Killeen of Mount Hope, W.Va., died Saturday following a brief illness. He was 72.

The former Chiefland resident retired from the U.S. Marine Corps.

He was preceded in death by a son, Richard James Killeen.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Karnes Killeen; sons Robert M. and Kevin S. Killeen of Woodbridge, Va.; and three grandchildren.
