Oleta Sapp Lee

LIVE OAK - Oleta Sapp Lee died Monday at Surrey Place in Live Oak following a brief illness. She was 88.

Mrs. Lee was born in Williston and moved to Live Oak in 1936.

She was a homemaker and a member of Antioch Baptist Church of Live Oak.

Survivors include a daughter, Lavonia Sapp Green of Live Oak; sons Hoyt, Robert and B.J. Sapp, all of Live Oak; sisters Murtice Fugate of Williston, Savilla Westbrook of Monticello and Unavee Smith of Witchita Falls, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Leroy Merchant Sr.

Leroy Merchant Sr. of Gainesville died Tuesday at his residence following a lingering illness. He was 79.

Mr. Merchant was born in Jacksonville and moved to Gainesville from Hampton in 2000.

He was a retired pulpwood truck driver and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Hampton. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was preceded in death by a son, Leroy Merchant Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Mitchell Merchant of Gainesville; daughters Melissa Mitchell and Candice Merchant, both of Gainesville; sons Leroy Merchant III of Gainesville and Arthur J. Merchant of Jacksonville; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Minnie Lou Salmi

NEWBERRY - Minnie Lou Salmi died Wednesday at North Florida Rehabilitation and Speciality Care Center. She was 73.

Mrs. Salmi was born in Bell and moved to Newberry 67 years ago.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include a daughter, Ann Salmi of Newberry; sons John Salmi of Boone, N.C., and Carl Salmi of Newberry; sisters Mariam Birt of Starke, Myrtle McKenzie of Crawfordville, and Madeline Faircloth of West Palm Beach; brothers Paul Martin of Fanning Springs, L.P. Martin of Alabama, Franz Martin of Live Oak, and Milton Martin of Crawfordville; and a grandchild.

Isaac Grayson Sellers

KEYSTONE HEIGHTS - Isaac Grayson "Ike" Sellers died Thursday at his residence. He was 74.

Mr. Sellers was born in Jacksonville and moved to Keystone Heights in 1974.

He was the foreman of the fuel department at Naval Air Station Jacksonville for nearly 40 years. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the 103rd Weather Group of the 70th Air Force Base Unit.

He was a member of Eliam Baptist Church in Melrose and an ordained deacon.

Survivors include his wife, Voncile Sellers of Keystone Heights; daughters Nancy Dykes and Susan Sellers, both of Keystone Heights; sons Kenneth Sellers of Miami and Michael and Dave Sellers, both of Jacksonville; a sister, Mildred Russell of St. Augustine; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

John Edward Stubbs

John Edward Stubbs of Red Springs, N.C., died Monday in Erwin, N.C. He was 86.

The Jacksonville native was a trade instructor at Peterson High School and a retired brick mason. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of St. James A.M.E. Zion Church.

He is survived by a sister, Ella S. Daniels of Gainesville.

Essie Walters

CROSS CITY - Essie Walters died Thursday at Cross City Rehabilitation and Health Care Center following an extended illness. She was 76.

Mrs. Walters, a lifelong resident of Cross City, was a homemaker and a member of Central Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Lela Lavone Walters of Cross City, and a brother, Jack Fuquay of Cross City.

Kalyn Breann Harris

LAKE CITY - Kalyn Breann Harris of Lake City died Wednesday at Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville after a long illness. She was 1.

Kalyn was born in Gainesville and lived in Lake City.

Survivors include her parents, Chris and Tasha Harris of Lake City; a brother, Caleb Harris of Lake City; her paternal grandparents, Charlie and Pat Miller of Lake City and Ronnie and Jan Harris of White Springs; her maternal grandparents, Johnny and Elizabeth Nims of Lake City; her paternal great-grandparents, Inez Harris of Lake City and Art and Irene Harris of Sanford; and her maternal great-grandparents, Bobby and Myrtice Morris, Eloise Nims and Horace Williams, all of Lake City.

Jimmy Lee Daniels

Jimmy Lee Daniels of La Grange, Ga., died Tuesday in La Grange. He was 45.

Mr. Daniels was a custodian. He also served in the U.S. Army.

Born in Jesup, Ga., he moved to La Grange five years ago.

Mr. Daniels graduated from Gainesville High School. He was a Protestant.

Survivors include his mother, Laura Powell of Gainesville; his father; 11 brothers, including Billy Leroy Daniels Sr., Joel Ewell and Kenneth Johnson, all of Gainesville; and four sisters, including Joanne Williams and Vivian Zeigler, both of Gainesville.

David McCray Sr.

David McCray Sr. of Gainesville died April 1 at his home after a long illness. He was 48.

Mr. McCray was an automotive painter.

He was a lifelong resident of Gainesville.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia McCray of Gainesville; a son, David McCray Jr. of Melrose; four stepsons, Ronnie Bigelow, James Bigelow, Kurtis Jones and Paul Jones, all of Gainesville; two stepdaughters, Ola Bigelow and Gloria Bigelow, both of Gainesville; six brothers, Charles Calhoun, James McCray Jr., and Jimmie Crawford, all of Gainesville, Cecil McCray of Ocala, Lindsey McCray of Orlando and Larry McCray of Alachua; four sisters, Ernestine Miller, Debbie Kendrick and Janie Crawford, all of Gainesville, and Agnes McCollum of Fayetteville, N.C.; and seven grandchildren.

Dorothy Lillian Leynes

LAKELAND - Dorothy Lillian Leynes of Lakeland died Tuesday in her caregiver's home in Lakeland. She was 88.

Miss Leynes was a retired secretary for Couch's stores in Gainesville.

Born in Archer, she moved from Winter Haven to Lakeland two years ago.

She was a member of Highlands Presbyterian Church in Gainesville and was past president of the Crevasse Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

Survivors include a brother; a sister; and her caregivers.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to Highlands Presbyterian Church in Gainesville.

Nora Mae Scruggs

Nora Mae Scruggs of Gainesville died Wednesday at her home. She was 91.

Mrs. Scruggs was a homemaker.

Born in Baker County, she moved from Baker County to Gainesville 67 years ago.

Mrs. Scruggs was a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church and a charter member of the Gainesville Golf and Country Club and the Women's Golf Association.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sigsbee Scruggs.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews, including Winifred Stringer Peters of Gainesville; a half-sister, Louise Paschal of Jacksonville; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Victor J. St. Sauveur

OLD TOWN - Victor J. "V.J." St. Sauveur of Old Town died unexpectedly Wednesday in Old Town. He was 53.

Mr. St. Sauveur was a maintenance worker in public schools.

Born in Woonsocket, R.I., he moved from St. Petersburg to Old Town seven months ago.

Mr. St. Sauveur was a member of St. Judes Catholic Church in St. Petersburg.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie St. Sauveur of Old Town; two stepsons, Larry Figard and Charlie Figard, both of St. Petersburg; a stepdaughter, Kimberly Figard of St. Petersburg; a brother, Richard St. Sauveur of Harrisville, R.I.; a sister, Rochelle Caulkins of Chepachet, R.I.

Ashley Maria Bostick

Ashley Maria Bostick of Tampa died Saturday at St. Joseph Hospital. She was 6.

Ashley was a first-grader at Lockhart Elementary School.

Survivors include her mother, Janice Jordan of Youngstown, Ohio; her father, Mack Bostick of Tampa; two sisters, Mactavia Antionette Bostick of Tampa and Kelly Davis of Farrell, Pa.; a brother, Kennard Davis of Farrell; a stepbrother, Demarkis Dequorri Bostick of Tampa; and her paternal grandparents, Eula B. Conley and Paul Conley of Tampa; her maternal grandparents, Geraldine Bennefield and Steve Bennefield of Farrell; her maternal great-grandmother, Irene Johnson of Farrell; and her paternal great-grandfather, Louis Carnegie of Williston.
