Ben Grimes Bristol

BRONSON - Ben Grimes Bristol of Bronson died Thursday at North Florida Regional Medical Center after a short illness. He was 37.

Mr. Bristol was a maintenance supervisor at West Farms Landscaping.

He was born in Orlando.

Survivors include a daughter, Antonia Bristol of Washington Sstate, and three stepsons in Washington Sstate; and 31 brothers and sisters.

Chauncey Jerome Copeland

Chauncey Jerome "Chan" Copeland of Gainesville died Thursday at his home after a long illness. He was 91.

Mr. Copeland was a high school principal in Middletown, Conn., and later was a community college administrator.

Born in Bridgewater, Mass., he moved from Longboat Key to Gainesville seven years ago. He was educated at Bridgewater State College, the University of New Hampshire and the University of Connecticut.

He was a Protestant.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Copeland of Gainesville; two daughters, Susan C. Johnson of Gainesville and Carolyn Belt of New Haven, Conn.; a son, Chauncey Jerome "Chan" Copeland Jr. of Portland, Conn.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mattie Lee Townsend Hardy

Mattie Lee Townsend Hardy of Gainesville died Saturday in Gainesville. She was 90.

Mrs. Hardy was a homemaker. She formerly owned and operated Hardy's Fishing Camp on Newnan's Lake in Gainesville.

Born and raised in Hawthorne, she moved from Miami to Gainesville 48 years ago.

She was a member of Lake Forest Baptist Church in Gainesville.

Survivors include three sons, James F. Hardy of Gainesville, Paul E. Hardy of Archer and Richard E. Hardy of Jacksonville; a daughter, Marian L. Arden of Bakersfield, Calif.; a brother, Homer A. Townsend of Miami; a sister, Ruby F. Baxley of Gainesville; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Deborah Rae Rebmann

Deborah Rae Rebmann of Gainesville died Saturday at Hospice House of Gainesville. She was 50.

Ms. Rebmann was a homemaker.

Born in Burlington, Conn., she moved from Burlington to Gainesville 28 years ago.

She was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church in Gainesville.

Survivors include two brothers, Peter Rebmann of Gainesville and David Rebmann of Denver; and a sister, Ramona Johnston of Coconut Creek.

Thomas E. Martin

Thomas E. Martin of Gainesville died on Friday in Trenton. He was 80.

Mr. Martin was born in Cassett, S.C., and moved to Gainesville from Trenton in 1961.

He was a professor emeritus in the College of Architecture at the University of Florida. He served in the U.S. Navy.

He was a member of Holy Faith Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Doris S. Martin of Gainesville; two daughters, Lisa Martin-Stuart of Columbia, S.C., and Dolores A. Montero of Cumming, Ga.; five sons, Conan R. Martin of Apopka, John T. Martin and Clifford E. Martin, both of Gainesville, Walter "Gibb" Martin of Brunswick, Ga., and Charles R. Martin of Fort Wayne, Ind.; 15 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to the National Parkinson Foundation.

Victor J. Miller

WILLISTON - Victor J. Miller of Williston died on Friday at North Florida Regional Medical Center after a long illness. He was 95.

Mr. Miller was a retired gas station owner.

Born in Austria-Hungary, he moved from Detroit to Williston 14 years ago.

He was a member of the Holy Family Church of Williston.

Survivors include a son, Victor Miller of Portland, Ore.; two daughters, Joanne Hartoon and Ethel Cullen, both of Williston; three brothers, Joe Miller of Detroit, John Miller of Louisville, Ky., and Ed Miller of South Rockford, Mich.; two sisters, Betty Dietrich of Canton, Ohio, and Ethel McDonnel of Nelsonville, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Edith Thomas Reynolds

HAWTHORNE - Edith Thomas Reynolds of Hawthorne died Friday in Trenton. She was 94.

Mrs. Reynolds was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hawthorne.

Born in Grand Island, she moved from the Tallahassee area to Hawthorne 33 years ago.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd M. Reynolds; and a grandson, Bill Hart.

Survivors include two daughters, Hazel Etheridge of Chiefland and Nina Hart of Gainesville; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert J. and Shirley Reynolds of New Smyrna Beach; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

William Melvin Robinson

DOWLING PARK - William Melvin Robinson of Dowling Park died on Friday at Good Samaritan Center in Dowling Park. He was 94.

Mr. Robinson moved from Jacksonville to Dowling Park six years ago.

He was a member of West Jacksonville Advent Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Effie Robinson; a son, W. Marvin Robinson; an infant daughter, Carolyn; and a granddaughter, Sonya Robinson Gruse.

Survivors include three sons, Foster Robinson, Raymond Robinson and Glenn Robinson; two sisters, Mildred Hengst and Lorena O'Steen; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert Hal Thomas

JACKSONVILLE - Robert Hal Thomas of Jacksonville died on Saturday at his home. He was 70.

Mr. Thomas was retired from the U.S. Air Force. He served during the Korean War.

Born in Worthington Springs, he lived most of his life in Jacksonville.

Survivors include three daughters, Diane Thompson of Alpharetta, Ga., Marian Thomas of Jacksonville and Erma Lockridge of Lahaca, Ark.; a son, Dennis Thomas of Jacksonville; six brothers, Earl Thomas of Jacksonville, Ralph Thomas of Orange City, Henry Thomas and Lester Thomas, both of Lake Butler, Gus Thomas of Linwood, N.C., and Laffette Thomas of Cresent City; two sisters, Owetta Shuppe of Perry and Lawanna Coleman of Jacksonville; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pamela Kathleen Coxe Zwerski

Pamela Kathleen Coxe Zwerski of Gainesville died Saturday at her home. She was 69.

Mrs. Zwerski was a retired state employee.

Born in Jamaica, she moved to Gainesville 30 years ago. She was a graduate of Alma College in Ontario, Canada.

Mrs. Zwerski was a member of the Friendship Circle at B'Nai Israel Synogogue and the Senior Friends of North Florida Regional Medical Center, and she supported the Alachua County Humane Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald P. Zwerski.

Survivors include two daughters, Carla Lauercq of Lakeland and Diane Samuels of Amherst, N.Y.; two sons, David P. Zwerski of Rockville, Md., and Daniel P. Zwerski of Gainesville; and a brother, Charles K. Coxe of Boynton Beach.

Katie Mae Black

HIGH SPRINGS -- Katie Mae Black died Monday. She was 91.

She was born in High Springs and was a retired musician. She was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.

Local survivors include cousins Altamese Duncan of High Springs and Ferma Jean Freeney of Fort White.

Muriel Gomo Blanchard

Muriel Gomo Blanchard of Gainesville died Tuesday at Hospice House in Gainesville. She was 87.

Mrs. Blanchard moved to Gainesville from St. Petersburg four years ago. She also maintained a residence in Vermont.

She was a member of First Universalist Church of Barre, Vt.

She is survived by a brother, Kelman Gomo of Greensboro, N.C.

Helen M. Campbell

BRONSON -- Helen M. Campbell died Monday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. She was 72.

She was born in Lake Wales and was a children's development professional. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Bronson and graduated from the University of Florida with a master's degree.

She also attended Stetson and Florida State University, and enjoyed genealogical research.

Survivors include a son, Lowell Dickman of Bronson; daughters Kathy Heinz of Tallahassee, Jeanne Vuille of Switzerland, Dorothy Mathews of Snellville, Ga., and Camilla Appelo of Bronson; brothers Lowell Shaw of Plant City and Hugh D. Shaw of Lake Wales; a sister, Lynn Rees of Gainesville; and 10 grandchildren.
