Ollie Mae Dillon

FORT WHITE - Ollie Mae Dillon died at her residence Friday. She was 92.

Mrs. Dillon was born in Sumner, Ga., and lived in New York, Moore Haven and High Springs before moving to Fort White.

She was a restaurant manager, a Jehovah's Witness and an avid horticulturist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Dillon, who was a retired New York City fireman; and a daughter, Barbara Lesch.

Survivors include daughters Stella Johnson of Lake City, Frances Sabo of Newberry, Judy Preimsberger of Temecula, Calif., and Patricia Barker of Fort White; sons George Thomas Dillon of Clovis, Calif., and Robert Dillon of Orlando; a brother, John Langdale of Moore Haven; stepsisters Audrey Ward, Elizabeth DeVeny and Mildred Ford, all of Moore Haven; 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Carol Little

Carol Little, a lifelong resident of Gainesville, died Friday at the Hospice House of Gainesville. She was 51.

Mrs. Little was a homemaker and a member of Northwood Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses.

Survivors include her husband, John D. Little of Gainesville; daughters Cynthia Williams of Ocala, Lucrecia Charron of Wellborn, Melissa Little of Gainesville, Tracy Morris of Newberry and Kim Palko of New York City; a son, Jonathan Little of Gainesville; a brother, Coleman Padgett Jr. of Gainesville; sisters, Myrtle Parrish of Lake Butler, Mary Padgett of Gainesville and Claudia Avery of Interlachen; and nine grandchildren.

Mary Stanfield

Mary Stanfield of Miami died Tuesday. She was 76.

Mrs. Stanfield was born in Savannah, Ga., and moved to Miami in 1953.

Local survivors include a son, Michael Stanfield of Gainesville.

Doyle D. Sullivan

WILLISTON - Doyle D. Sullivan died at his residence Friday. He was 80.

Mr. Sullivan was born in Mayo and was a lifelong resident of the area.

He was retired from the city of Gainesville, where he worked with the parks and playgrounds division. He was a member of the Church of God of Williston. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Dora Sullivan of Williston; a son, Marvin Sullivan of Crystal River; a daughter, Martha Logan of Winter Haven; a sister, Hazel Lee of Williston; four grandchildren and two great-grand-children.

Gary Rodney Waldron

LAKE CITY -- Gary Rodney Waldron, a lifelong resident of Lake City, died Monday in Lake City. He was 51.

Mr. Waldron was a mathematics teacher at Richardson Middle School in Lake City and a U.S. Air Force Vietnam veteran.

He was a member of Westside Baptist Church of Lake City, a former Exalted Ruler with the Elks Club of Lake City, a board member of the Babe Ruth Baseball League, a Columbia High School Band Booster and a high school sports referee.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Markham Waldron of Lake City; four daughters, Stacy Waldron, Aundrea Waldron Reese and Savannah Waldron, all of Lake City, and Lori Waldron Bryant of Moultrie, Ga.; his mother, Cora Bell Waldron of Lake City; a sister, Carol Rosenthal of Lake City; and four grandchildren.

Bertie M. Bennett

Bertie M. Bennett of Port Richey died Tuesday at North Florida Regional Medical Center. She was 85.

Mrs. Bennett was a native of White Springs.

She was a Baptist.

She has no local survivors.

Stacy Crawford

Stacy Crawford of Gainesville died Friday at Shands at AGH following a brief illness. He was 81.

Mr. Crawford was born in Americus, Ga., and moved to Gainesville 68 years ago.

He was an automobile mechanic at the University of Florida.

He was a deacon at Mount Moriah Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Eugene Crawford of Gainesville; a sister, Vestina Wright of Tampa; and a brother, Kelcey Crawford of San Francisco; and four godchildren, Brian Demps of Laurel, Md., Walter Jones Jr. of Fort Myers, and Angela Medina and Regina Ann Medina, both of Sunrise; and many nieces and nephews.

Richard F. Emery

Richard F. Emery of Sarasota died Dec. 30 in Tampa. He was 81.

Mr. Emery was born in Albion, Mich., and moved to Sarasota from Williston in 1997.

He was a quality control supervisor for Mercury Marine in St. Cloud and a member of First Christian Church in St. Cloud.

He received the Purple Heart for his service in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Ocala Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 4209.

Survivors include his wife, Marillyn J. Emery of Sarasota; five daughters, JoAnn Godde of Marshall, Mich., Betty Gibbs of Spring Port, Mich., Barbara Eldridge of Traverse City, Mich., Gayle Weaver of Homer, Mich., and Martha Pellegrino of Sarasota; a son, Gary Emery of Mesick, Mich.; a brother, Thomas Emery of Charlotte, Mich.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Alva G. Gresham

NEWBERRY -- Alva G. Gresham of Newberry died of natural causes Monday in Gainesville. He was 90.

Mr. Gresham was born in Coffee County, Ga., and moved to Newberry from Miami in 1981.

He was self-employed in the auto industry.

He was a past president of the South Miami Lions Club and a member of the Family Church.

Mr. Gresham was preceded in death by a son, Robert L. Gresham.

Survivors include his wife, Lela R. Gresham of Newberry; a daughter, Ruth E. Lewis of Newberry; a son, Jack L. Gresham of Orlando; two sisters, Ruby Copper of St. Cloud and Nellie Spears of Jacksonville; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Gerald Leslie Jones

OLD TOWN -- Gerald Leslie Jones of Old Town died Friday. He was 59.

Mr. Jones was born in Broken Arrow, Okla., and moved to Old Town from Oregon 13 years ago.

He was a truck driver and a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Joy Jones of Old Town; three daughters, Tammy Jones of Arkansas, and Tara Holder and Raychelle Driggers, both of Old Town; three sons, Dwayne Jones and Rodney Jones, both of California, and Steann Robinson of Old Town; three sisters, Danna Jones of Alabama, and Barbara Pease and Anne Stien, both of Missouri; five brothers, Joe Jones, Brian Jones and Fred Jones, all of Missouri, and Burl Jones and Davey Jones, both of Minnesota; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

William Earld Marwood

William Earld Marwood of Gainesville died at his home Saturday. He was 75.

Mr. Marwood was born in Detroit and moved to Florida from Baltimore 22 years ago.

He was a retired U.S. Merchant Marine radio officer.

Mr. Marwood served as a radioman 3rd class in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and he was a communications officer with the U.S. Maritime Service during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the American Theater Medal, the Victory Medal and the Vietnam Service Award.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Margaret Frey of Baltimore; and his brother, Robert Marwood, and sister, Patricia Scott, both of Ontario.

He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Marwood Wheeler of Gainesville; his grandson, George Ronald Wheeler III of Gainesville; and his sister, Orion Greer of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Edith Ellis Perkins

Edith Ellis Perkins of Gainesville died Monday in Gainesville following a brief illness. She was 89.

Mrs. Perkins was born in Knoxville, Tenn., and lived in Orlando and Miami before moving to Gainesville five years ago.

She was a homemaker and a member of Parkview Baptist Church. Mrs. Perkins raised orchids.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Otis Perkins.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Richard Ellis and Patricia Perkins of Gainesville; four grandchildren, Rick Perkins, Chad Wood and Debbie Valle, all of Orlando, and Ron Perkins of Little Rock, Ark.; and four great-grandchildren, Jordan Perkins, Ryan Perkins, Katie Valle and Austin Valle.
