Ruth R. Jefferson, 84, Hernando and Wood Dale, Ill., died Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness.

Born Sept. 13, 1918, in Chicago, Ill., to Andrew and Mary (Hanson) Olson, she came here two years ago.

Mrs. Jefferson was a homemaker. She was Lutheran.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Jefferson, in 1983.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen Graham of Wood Dale, Ill., and Judy Carnell of Hernando; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Eveline Kaminsky, 92 Homosassa

Eveline A. Kaminsky, 92, Homosassa, died Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at Cypress Cove Care Center.

Born Feb. 15, 1911, in Canada to William and Annie (Hutchinson) Highfield, she came here two years ago from Rochester, N.Y.

She was a retired grocery store clerk.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William (Johan) Closser of Homosassa; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Fred Lammers, 76 Inverness

Fred J. Lammers, 76, Inverness, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at his home under the care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County.

Born Sept. 10, 1926, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Louis and Agnes Lammers, he came here in 1981 from Miami.

Mr. Lammers was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired manager for the Ranch House Restaurant in Dade County.

He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Inverness and the Elks Lodge 2522 in Hernando.

Survivors include his wife, Marcella Lammers of Inverness; two sons, Frank Lammers of Miami and Carl Lammers of Duncan, Okla.; one daughter, Mary Diane Johnston of Panama City; a brother, Louis Lammers of Clovis, Calif.; a granddaughter; and great-granddaughter.

Herbert Moulton Jr., 83 Homosassa

Herbert E. Moulton Jr, . 83, Homosassa, died Friday, May 23, 2003, in Crystal River.

Born Nov. 2, 1919, in Dexter, N.Y., to Herbert and Mae Moulton, he came here in 1989 from Adams Center, N.Y.

Mr. Moulton was a retired machine tender for a paper mill.

He enjoyed shuffleboard. He was Methodist.

He was preceded in death by a son, Herbert Moulton, in 1973.

Survivors include his wife, Vera S. Moulton of Homosassa; two sons, George Moulton of Adams Center, N.Y., and Clifford Moulton of Ocala; one daughter, Beatrice Hewitt of Homosassa; two brothers, Frank Moulton of Greensboro, N.C., and Joe Moulton of Central Square, N.Y.; four sisters, Christine Oldenburg of New Port Richey, Gertrude Denny of Rochester, N.Y., Mary Marsh of Foulton, N.Y., and Orpha VanGordon of Homosassa; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Eva Priest Curtis, 88 Crystal River

Eva Priest Curtis, 88, of Crystal River died Saturday, May 31, 2003, at Seven Rivers Community Hospital in Crystal River.

She was born Nov. 9, 1914, to Crozier and Olive (Weaver) Priest in Red Level. She was a longtime resident of Crystal River.

She was a member of one of Citrus County's pioneer families. She was the oldest continuing member of Red Level Baptist Church.

Mrs. Curtis taught a Sunday School Class at river Oaks Assisted Living Facility for many years. She was the past president of the W.M.U. at Red Level Baptist Church.

She was preceeded in death by her husband, Joseph L. Curtis and her son, Charles Parham.

Survivors include her daughter, Betty Williams and husband Bruce of Crystal River; brothers Dean and Wayne Priest of Red Level; sisters Lola Daniel of Crystal River, and Bonnie White of Inverness; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many other family members.

Mary Edwards, 77 Homosassa

Mary E. Edwards, 77, Homosassa, died Thursday, May 29, 2003, in Crystal River.

She was born in Oneonta, N.Y., on Oct. 8, 1925, to LeRoy and Helena Huether Van Heusen.

Mrs. Edwards was a retired accountant for General Motors.

She was Methodist.

She was a member of the Crystal River Moose Lodge 2013. She was an avid Gator and Buc football fan.

Survivors include her friends, Dr. Joy and Delores Decker of Homosassa; Eulice Pleasant of Decatur, Ill.; Lena Ray of Bartow; Jean Lorenson of Decatur, Ill.; T.J. Salter of Homosassa; and Mary Boone of Dade City.

Ruth Mowers, 82 Lake Panasoffkee

Mrs. Ruth Jane Mowers, 82, of Lake Panasoffkee, died Wednesday, May 28, 2003, in Inverness.

She was born in Halstead, Pa. She came here five years ago from Sarasota.

Survivors include two sons, James E. Mowers and Jerry A. Mowers, both of Lake Panasofkee; a daughter, Barbara Ann Mowers of Binghamton, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.

Joanne Hugar, 71 Inverness

Joanne Lee Hugar, 71, of Inverness, died Saturday, May 31, 2003, in Inverness.

She was born Sept. 3, 1931, in Indianapolis, Ind., to Randle and Marybelle Loy Hughes. She came here from Brooksville in 1991.

She was a former secretary.

She attended Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.

She was a member of the Share Club of Citrus Memorial.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Hugar.

Survivors include four sons, Dennis Hugar, Darnell Hugar, and Douglas Hugar, all of Inverness, and Donald Hugar of Terrell, Texas; two daughters, Debra Dennison of Tampa, and Diana Gentry of Ponza City, Okla.; and 13 grandchildren.

John Snyder, 84 Lecanto

Col. John Joseph Snyder, 84, of Lecanto, died Friday, May 30, 2003, at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness.

A native of Albany, N.Y., he was born June 5, 1918, to Willard and Nora Snyder. He came here from St. Petersburg in 1990.

He retired from the U.S. Army Military Intelligence with 27 years of service. He served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam.

He received many awards and decorations including the Purple Heart, Bronze Star with cluster, Army Commendation with cluster, World War II Victory Medal, Korean Service Medal and the Army General Staff Badge.

He was a life member of VFW Post 14000, Retired Officers Association, Former Intelligence Officers Association and the 45th Infantry Division Association 23.

Survivors include his wife, Bettie Ann McAllister Snyder of Lecanto; a brother, Willard Lawrence Snyder of Albany, N.Y.; and nieces and nephews.
