Richard "Dick" Breter, 85, of Ocala
Richard "Dick" Breter, of Ocala, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2003, in Ocala. A native of Erie, Pa., he came here in 1993 from St. Petersburg. He was 85.
Mr. Breter was self-employed and retired in 1984. He was in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of Ocala West United Methodist Church; Pennsylvania Club; Golf Club; Shuffleboard and Bocce League at On Top of the World; and life member of the Prestige 55.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Jean Sturgis Breter; son, Donald Breter of Enterprise, Ala.; brother, Bob Breter of Largo; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Lillie Breter; sisters, Betty De George and Marilyn Dunbar; brother, Clarence Breter and one grandson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1180, Ocala, Fla.
A Memorial service was held Aug. 7 at the Ocala West United Methodist Church.
National Cremation Society, Fruitland Park, handled the arrangements.
Norma Falso, 79, of Spruce Creek North
Norma Falso, of Spruce Creek North, died Wednesday, July 30, 2003. A native of Oswegatchie, N.Y., she came here in 1980 from Cortland, N.Y. She was 79.
Mrs. Falso was a retired bookkeeper for Pall Trinity Micro Company. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Marion Oaks.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Anthony Falso Jr.; son, Timothy Towle of Cortland, N.Y.; daughter, Capri King of Cortland, N.Y.; and three grandchildren.
Donations may be made to Hospice of Marion County.

Joseph D. Fortuna, 73, of Ocala
Joseph D. Fortuna, of Ocala, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2003. A native of Astoria, Queens, N.Y., he came here in March 2001 from Teaneck, N.J. He was 73.
Mr. Fortuna was a retired elementary school teacher. He was a Eucharistic minister at St. Anastasia's Catholic Church in Teaneck, N.J. He was a member of the National Education Association and a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Dunnellon.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Irene M.; sons, Joseph D.R. Fortuna and Michael E. Fortuna, both of New Milford, N.J., and Nicholas G. Fortuna of Hamilton, N.J.; and one grandson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christian Foundation for Children and Aging, Animal Rescue Kingdom, or the Humane Society of Ocala.

John G. Marmaras, 81, of OTOW
John G. Marmaras, of OTOW, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2003, at Sylvia's Hospice House. A native of Providence, R.I., he has lived here since 1987, formerly from Warwick, R.I. He was 81.
Mr. Marmaras was a retired dean of Community College of Warwick, R.I. He was Protestant. He was a World War II Navy veteran; past president of Warwick, R.I. Rotary Club; avid pilot; avid snow skier; and inducted in the Community College Hall of Fame, Warwick, R.I., in 1999.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Audrey; son, John T. Marmaras of Prudence Island, R.I.; sister, Irene Grimshaw of Barrington, R.I.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Marion County.

Raymond A. Riffle, 71, of Palm Cay
Raymond A. Riffle, of Palm Cay, died Thursday, July 31, 2003. A native of Orlando, W.Va., he came here in 1970 from Hollywood, Fla. He was 71.
Mr. Riffle was a retired serviceman for a public gas company. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Mary Irene; sons, Raymond E. Riffle and Robert L. Riffle, of Columbus, Ohio, and William Thompson of Chiefland; daughters, Dawn R. Mathner of Oviedo and Linda S. Brodbock of Cumberland Lake, Ky.; brothers, William "Ike" Riffle of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Gaylord Riffle of Columbus, Ohio; sister, Ann Yokum of Parkersburg, W.Va.; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Alma Bertha Barco, 78, of Oxford, died Saturday, June 28, 2003, in Oxford. A native of Rocky River, Ohio, she moved here in 1945 from Tampa. Mrs. Barco was a homemaker and a member of Church of Christ. Survivors include sons Colon Barco of Oxnard, Calif. Cut Barco of Oxford; brother, Ed Shettle of Jacksonville; sister, Louise Everson of Riverview; and one grandchild. Virginia B. Bostic, 82, of Lake Panasoffkee, died Friday, June 27, 2003. She was born March 9, 1921 to Dennis and Nona Beverage in Garten, W.Va. and came here in 1978 from Rupert, W.Va. Mrs. Bostic was a homemaker and a member of Lake Panasoffkee United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Denney Bostic, Nov. 20, 1988. Survivors include a son, Denney H. Bostic of Lake Panasoffkee; two sisters, Elizabeth Wright of Pensacola and Edith Kincaid of Lake Panasoffkee; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Douglas Brandon DeWeese, 42, of Apopka, died Thursday, July 3, 2003, in Apopka. A native of Troy, Ohio, he lived most of his life in Central Florida and was a graduate of Zephyrhills High School. Mr. DeWeese was an architectural CAD Designer in the computer industry. Survivors include his father, Douglas T. DeWeese of Lake Panasoffkee; two sisters, Mary Hubley of Minster, Ohio and Lori Beyer of Houston, Texas; several nieces and nephews. Henry Ellingsworth, 78, of Webster, died Tuesday, July 1, 2003, in Bushnell. A native of Jeffersontown, Ky., he lived in Sumter County since 1998, formerly of St. Petersburg. Mr. Ellingsworth was the owner/operator of a landscaping company. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II. He was Catholic. Dorothy Barnes Gibson, 65, of Brooksville, died Monday, June 30, 2003, in New Port Richey. A native of Bushnell, she was a resident of Sumter County for most of her life. Rose Theresa Linary, 86, of Lake Panasoffkee, died Sunday, June 29, 2003, at the Citrus Health & Rehabilitation Center in Inverness. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on March 19, 1917 to the late Americo and Theresa (Spadafora) Vicinanza, she came here in 1990 from Cairo, N.Y. Mrs. Linary was a retired waitress and Catholic by faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Linary on June 4, 2001. Leslie E. Madison, 67, Musician
Leslie Eugene "Matt" Madison, 67, of Anniston, Ala., died Sunday, July 6, 2003, in Anniston, Ala. A native of Richmond, Va., he was a resident of Florida most of his life. Mr. Madison formed his own band, Bluevalley Boys Band, and performed at many charity benefits. He received a gold record in 1953 for the song he wrote and Hank Williams Jr. sang, "Nobody's Child." Mr. Madison was a deacon in a non-denominational church in Florida. He served in the Army Special Forces in the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Leroy and Lillian Cargelle Madison. Survivors include his wife Carmilla Jean; daughters, Kathy, Pam, Cindy and Lisa Marie of Richmond, Va., Anita Carol and Texana of Arizona, Dawn Madison of Florida and Tamula Capstick of Anniston, Ala.; sons, Les Madison Jr. of Mexico, Tommy Gregory of Anniston, Ala., David Jones of Bushnell, and Casey Jones of Douglasville, Ga.; brothers, Leroy Madison of Hernando and Edgar Madison of Richmond, Fla.; numerous grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
